On Friday's you will hear us mention to wear RED.  RED meaning: Remember Everyone Deployed. Anything red in support of all our sons and daughters in all military branches serving our Great country.  I am always encouraging co-workers and others in our community to wear RED on Fridays and when my son joined the Navy it became much more personal & emotionally charged.  

Oh Shanny - your story about your Gma & her gold star made me tear up. Yes, it was only right that she be buried with it on her.  God Bless you for doing that for her.  

Yes, Amazon is making a lot of $ on us Navy Moms especially since so many of us dare not wander into the crowded stores.

I love the lantern & fairy lights idea too...Maybe I'll put fairy lights in my vases vs. a candle... When I ordered the handmade vases I never ever expected them to be anything but tea light size...Imagine my surprise they are Wonderful large candle vases... Such a happy surprise since they will be a focal point in my house.  I am still going to try to do something on smaller scale at my work station as I spend more time here than home... And yes, I will be burning through the batteries myself I am sure.  Costco sells batteries in bulk so...all set there.

Shanny I'm with you on that Girlfriend I love Etsy! I Have one of those candles but mine says something different. But I love them! at least we are on the same page. My daughter just bought me this Morracan lantern came in so this weekend I'm picking it up.

I like to light the candle in his room say a prayer and turn the Light on in the other. But My daughter told me she bought me a little something and told me what it was, I love it!

BelovedbyHim:  I am so not crafty!  I wish I were! I have tried to learn to crochet. Bought everything people told me to. Nope. I couldn’t even get it started. No matter how hard I tried. My mom tried to teach me to knit when I was a kid. After trying for 5 years she finally gave up. I can see on a button. But that’s about it. I can French brain and Dutch braid my own hair. But I can’t on someone else. I’m hopeless

Beloved That is awesome, I'm not a crafty person but my daughter can do about anything. but all these Blue light candles has got me in the mood. she always knows I think about bud so she surprised me with this lantern and lights. I can put in my Kitchen and light it up. one of the boys I raised surprised me after Christmas with some Lights that are on a timer and you put underneath your cabinets to light up the kitchen really nice. I can alternate with the both now.

Start writing your letters now and the key is to stay busy while you are waiting for that first contact. This is an emotional roller coaster ride but we are here along the way offering support, encouragement, laughter and even tears with you.   :)

Anti M- Good Morning, How have you been? We have had some very very chilly mornings here in the valley. Actually it has been wonderful. I love the cold since it's so hot here for so long. Lol 

How have you been? How are you feeling? I hope everything has been going well.

My son's first week at his new place has been an eye opener for him that's for sure. I give him another week and he will be good to go. Lol

Party, I'm alright, thanks for asking.  Arthritis is a bother, I tried mood boosting gummies and discovered they aggravate my inflammation.  Not mood boosting.  It has been a bot warm, we really need a good storm to clear out our valley air and add to the snowpack.  The snowpack is our summer irrigation/yard water.  

I have some color changing LED bulbs in small lamps, and some CCLED candles.  The tea lights cycle through colors, but the taper candles can be set to whichever color you like.

A word about Etsy, if the item is not handmade, or you have doubts, search Amazon for the same thing. One clue is the same thing offered by several sellers.  I wanted some cute chimes, and they ran $15 to $18 on Etsy, plus shipping.  I found them on Amazon Prime for under $10.  Shop around!

belovedbyHim - I am envious of your ability to French braid and Dutch braid your hair... I for the life of me can't manage it. I can French braid someone else's but, mine is just a mangled mess when I try doing it with mine.

Phonixmom- Yes, Etsy & Amazon are making a killing off of me... It is soooo addictive on Etsy...and so many ideas. Some I could probably do if I bought the supplies but...then again it might just be another project I didn't get to...I have TONS of 1/2 started things (mostly knitting & crochet).   LOVE your daughter sooo sweet to order you the lantern.  What a wonderful gal!!!  

Shanny - The hemp anchor bracelet is nice.  I was thinking of ordering something similar in red to wear on RED Fridays too.

Yes, my Maternal Grandmother sounds like yours.  As the oldest grandchild she and I had a special bond & relationship. And I spent a lot more time over the years with her than the other grandchildren.  She used to giggle as she became a Great Grandmother with the birth of my 1st & her sister who was 1 yr younger didn't get her first & only grandchild until the following year.  

I pretty much taught myself to knit & crochet...lots and lots of videos (play, pause, repeat, rewind over and over and over). Between all the free help/teaching video's online and some really good instructional books I do both now.  Granted I am never going to be as good as my Grandmother (she was a pro)...she always said I was a lefty so she wouldn't be able to teach me ... and I didn't pick it up until after she died too.  But here is the funny part... I do both Right handed not left....

My tension is not the best at consistency but, with dish cloths and baby blankets it is good enough and works out.  

Start with something small like a basic dishcloth then branch out... Just keep with it.  It is easy enough to "frog" it back and start again.  Sometimes that is as therapeutic as making it...sort of like a redo button that we don't get in life.  At least for me anyhow.

I have tons of projects I started & life got in the way so they sit .... all my kids give me grief about that too...hahahahaha!! but life got way too complicated for way to long so I haven't even had 1/2 a chance to do any of it. Plus now my hands give me issues so I can't do to much at a time.

HOOYAH! whoop whoop!

The wind is WILD here today!! I'm guessing around a steady 40 mph with regular gusts up to 80mph. Half our fence blew down and I didn't realize it until AFTER I had let the dogs out and they came back in....good dogs!!! The neighbor helped me prop it back up and secure it since hubby is at work. Because we live in a high wind area our fence posts are steel. The neighbor drains his pool pump or whatever he does that floods that side every week and it is obvious that the pool chemicals corroded the post and it just snapped. He acknowledged that was likely the cause so he is going to call someone to come fix it. Me and hubby already replaced that fence ourselves and it was a good, solid fence. He is also going to get some quotes for a block wall (actually he tried to get me to do it but I ended the conversation with, "Well, just let us know what kind of quotes you come up with and we'll talk about paying half."). So that fiasco was my entire morning. I did plan on going out to run some errands today but not in this wind, it isn't safe as this is the kind of wind that has semi trucks flipping over on the freeway and playing 'dodge the tumbleweed'. I guess etsy browsing it is today, haha!!

I’ve loved seeing the Navy mom swag and candles! Super fun! Today I’m wearing my RED Navy Mom t-shirt. :) HOOYAH!! not only does it support our sailors but it also makes me feel like I have a piece of my boy close to me. 
I’ve bought a lot of fun Navy stuff off of eBay but the last time I purchased something my credit card information got stolen. They spent almost $4000!! I don’t shop at Saks!! Lol luckily we got it taken care of. The same thing happened to my Sailor the week before, when he bought a Disney pin! Be safe out there and online!

Vintage I am always afraid of getting my identity stolen. My daughter actually does all my shopping for me, I send her a check signed and we keep a rounding account going. Gives her extra points on her card and I get the security of not having to use my card. She also checks out and makes sure that any donations I want to make are actually what they say they are. I am so blessed to have her and I know it. I am old enough that computers were not a part of our lives so I am not comfortable using them but I am trying, heck my 90 year old Dad just got his first IPad, just saying I need to get out of the stone age! Have a wonderful night. What month is that wedding?

VintageGal:  I need to know where you bought your Navy mom stuff!  I am so paranoid of the sites that come up in my FB feeds but they have some cool looking shirts!  I did just buy this bracelet on Etsy though!  I’ve been looking at it for 2 months lol I hate spending money 

Shanny, let me know if the cord is soft or scratchy. I was looking at those today and love all the color combos you can choose from. I was thinking 'gunmetal' anchor with navy blue bracelet. 

I see another letter coming from my SR. I plan to go to the post office tomorrow but I don't think it will be there yet as it has been taking 3 days from when I see it to when I get it. Next opportunity I'll have to get to the post office will be Wednesday and it should be there by then. I have his birthday cards ready to mail out just trying to figure out the timing on when to send them so they show up close to his birthday. 

I am leery of the FB ads, so many just use pictures from Etsy or private sites and send you garbage or nothing. I have learned to do google reverse image search to figure out what is real. Etsy tends to be okay.  I have shopped online for years and never had a problem with card theft, just a couple rip off sales.  My card is good about fixing those.  

I'm more concerned about identity theft from all those online quizzes which are just farming information.  

mom2blondies:  i ordered the royal blue and gunmetal.  I will definitely let you know!  I always second guess myself when I order things like this lol

Northwoodsmom ~ So the credit card mishap was literally last week! The person had a great time shopping at Saks and then bought over $100 worth of pizza and a couple of Asian parlor massages! My husband was alerted of it and a lot of it was denied. Thankfully we got it all shut down. My Sailor was alerted of the fraud as well and got it all straightened out.

Northwoodsmom ~ so the wedding is in one month! It’s going to be here before we know it. I was at his fiancé’s house this evening with her mother going through pictures for a slideshow. So I’ll be working on it this weekend while my dh and day are out on a quad ride. 

My sailor just text me and said that him and his fiancé are watching double Jeopardy with Ashley Judd. Of course she’s here and he’s at school but they watch them together. It melts my heart when my son shows her my favorite movies. Him and I are major movie and music buffs. He’s always asking me for recommendations <3 I LOVE THIS BOY!!

VintageGal-I actually didn't purchase anything today! Yay me! I browsed etsy for a bit then finished my housework that I was putting off because I thought my oldest was bringing his dogs so was going to do floors after they left but he didn't end up bringing them. The wedding will be here in the blink of an eye!! Have fun with the slide show!! 

Hello??? Is this thing on??? Everyone must be having a busy Saturday. Got another letter from my kiddo today. And here I didn't think he'd be writing to me at all. He's doing good. Things are not as he expected at all and he said he still doesn't really feel like he's in the military. I'm not sure what he expected and what is different but he said that he thinks working in the EMS/Fire service prepared him well as the thing most of the kids are struggling with his the sleep deprivation (which he said is not even sleep deprivation as they get 5-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep a night). He made me laugh because he said he isn't used to his hair getting so long, ha ha! He would normally cut his hair every couple of weeks and they are just now getting their 2nd haircut 5 weeks later. 

I am here now! I am in car shopping hell. My sailor found the car he wants. The dealership is going to ship it to him. But he didn’t think or listen to me when I told him he had to have insurance and all of that lined up. And he didn’t listen when I told him if they require it insured in Michigan even though the vehicle will not be in Michigan, he will have to have full coverage on it with a loan. So he has been doing quotes for plpd (that’s probably a no fault state thing). So his quotes are off by hundreds of dollars. And nothing I can do about it on a Saturday!  

Hi Mom2blondies- Yes, sometimes Saturdays are actually quiet. I have been busy with family things so not on. Another letter, whoohoo!!!  That is interesting about your son's perspective on sleep deprivation!!

I don't post much anyway ... my thrilling day has included custom painting an action figure and making a steak for lunch.  I put the new shower wand on, and it's missing one of the washers, so I had to take it apart to measure the one included so I could order a pack.  Whoot.  

mom2blondies- Hey another letter whoo hoo. That's awesome. I love how he describes about the kids saying that about loss of sleep and that he's not used to his blhair being that long. Lol 

I was busy this morning so I didn't do my usual post. But I'm glad you got another letter.

My son said the same thing about fire/ems. When on shift they had long days and lots of sleep interruption so this didn't seem so abnormal. He was my kid that never needed much sleep anyway. Hard for a mom from a family of good sleepers. We had a deal he couldn't wake us until the he heard the alarm. Sometimes I'd wake up and he'd be sitting on the floor by the side of the bed looking at a book waiting. I bet right now they are tired enough he's not laying in his bunk wide awake waiting for everyone else to wake up :) I love Etsy! I'm not crafty at all so admire & appreciate all those that are.
