If you read in the yellow banner above where the links are for the video, it says they are videotaped and posted each FRIDAY. I don't think they come up until sometime in the afternoon on Friday. :-( I am sorry. I don't know if the FB page is as up to date with that information or not.

* * * Graduation Ceremony Guest Attendance Suspension * * *
The U.S. Navy has suspended all Recruit Training Command formal, large-scale graduation ceremonies until further notice as part of its proactive approach to protect our mission and limit the potential spread of COVID-19.
Recruits will continue to graduate and participate in a smaller-scale ceremony, which will be videotaped and posted each FRIDAY on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/NavyRecruitTrainingCommand/ as well as our YouTube channel for RTC Public Affairs.
This virtual graduation will remain posted on Facebook and YouTube indefinitely for subsequent viewing.
This decision was made after considering recommendations from the CDC and medical professionals to support the well-being of our students and staff, and to maintain our mission essential function of providing basically trained Sailors to the fleet.
We will continue to monitor the situation and will resume graduations with guest attendance as soon as it is safe to do so.

Carolyn - They quarantine at an Army base called Fort McCoy near Sparta, WI. It is a 3 hour bus ride to/from RTC Great Lakes.
All - I got the first phone call from boot camp on Saturday. My son was starting week 2 of actual boot camp. He said they don't count P-days. He sounded really good, upbeat, and positive. His only complaint was that he has shin splints from all the running and marching. But says its common there. He was allowed to go to the infirmary to get ibuprofen. I was plagued with them when I was a runner in my youth. So I reassured them he won't be crippled or anything, just push through and they will heal when he is done with BC. I also got his first 3 letters on Tuesday. They are full of energy and jokes. So all is well in my world.

Carolyn - I am not sure about time outside when they are at Ft. McCoy - but they will march outside once they are in BC. And they will be dressed warmly. I will say, even if I don't like wearing a mask out and about, my cloth one is rather nice for when there is bitter cold winds blowing. It helps to keep my face warm.

Carolyn- Good Morning,
Sorry I missed your post. And Mama Bear thanks for the info. Like Chipmunk said sometimes we are not sure about how they change things from quarantine to bc. I also leave that to BBH and the others. :)
Yes I know that GL is very cold in the winter and you can see pictures of them dressed very warmly. Your son will definitely be bundled up when he gets to GL.
But once he does get to GL they do march outside cold and all. :) How are you doing?

Jayme0209-- Good morning and Welcome. That is a Firm Maybe!! Depending on when he leaves and if any of that is over Christmas 2021 and what happens with COVID and what the Stand down/ liberty policies are at his A school for any given week, where you are coming from... Maybe yes, Maybe no.
Sadly until he gets there you will not know for sure. Usually they are able to class up and they earn liberty so he would be able to spend some time off base with you but you will not know that until he is there. The Boot camp info is spot on however. I know it feels overwhelming but please know he's safe and after BC the communications really do get better!! COVID has really thrown a Monkey wrench into the works!

Good morning ladies!
Carolyn ~ hello! Reading your post about listening to his voicemail brought tears to my eyes! I love that you recorded him talking and laughing, on the sly! I did the same thing with tears running down my face while he was playing video games with his friends the night before he left. Your son is engaged? Awwee Our experiences sound similar in that my son is also engaged but oh man she didn't have her phone on her when he called saying "I'm here" so he called us and boy was she devastated! I told my husband I like to think that maybe he called us first... yeah nope LOL
So about the clothes - they give them everything they need for the elements and they also receive a "visa card" (not sure what they call it) so they can buy other things that are needed including a calling card. They do march outside from building to building but are pretty bundled up. I believe if you go on their RTC facebook page and go back to last winter photos you can see how they look when it snowed.
Big Navy Mom Hugs to you!! This is the hard part and we are here for you! "you got this!" I love the phrase that was told to me when my son went to bootcamp "Don't worry, we've never lost a mom to boot camp!" :)
Mom2blondies ~ How are you? :) You're in the home stretch! Here's to getting more letters and extra happy phone calls!
Mykenzie ~ CONGRATULATIONS!!! Bravo Zulu Sailor!! Soon you'll be back in communication! Big hugs to you!
Mama Bear ~ BNMH! Hopefully his shin splints subside and don't bother him too much. Yay for letters!
Comehereyoung ~ Welcome! We'd like to be here for you through your journey so say hello anytime!
Warriorprotector ~ One more week? Here we go! Whoohoo! What division is he? We can't wait to celebrate with you!
Jayme0209 ~ Belovedbyhim had a great answer! It really stinks that covid has changed things. He'll have the best info when he arrives in FL. It all depends on the state and city. BNMH!
Have a wonderful day AngesB, Phoenixmom, Chipmuck, Shanny, BBH, Partyofseven, and Anti M!

Good morning all! Although it is afternoon for most of you. I didn't feel like I worked extra hard yesterday or anything but I was SO tired and slept all through the night (that almost never happens) and woke up at 7am feeling ready to start the day....but apparently I wasn't because I fell back asleep and next thing I know it is 10am!!! I guess my body just needed extra sleep.
Hi Vintage! 28 days to go!!! I don't know why if feels like time has slowed down all of a sudden. I see a letter coming from SR/GF. It should be at the post office today, it wasn't there yet on Wednesday.
Actual winter weather in so cal is not a regular occurrence but they say we have a big storm coming. My oldest that lives in the mountains came down and got groceries yesterday in case they get snowed in.
Carolyn-thinking about you, the first few days are a rollercoaster of emotions and the leaky eyes will be unpredictable. Hugs!!
MIL has asked dh to come over this afternoon but he doesn't know why so not sure if I should go with him or not. Hoping he calls her to get more info.
Hope you all have a wonderful day!

B'sNukeMoM- Not too far from you! I'm in the foothills up by where the 210 and 15 meet. All of my family is in Riverside county and we used to go to Riverside regularly as we did archery there before covid shutdown the range. I got my bird on my profile pic down there at Magnolia bird farm.

Hi Mrs. Anti M, please be careful doing the chores outside. If I was near I would go and rake for you as I am doing my own here at home. I'm glad that you are ok.
Jayme0209 I believe we have a site on here for Pensacola let me find it maybe you can reach out to others and see if they are allowing visitors. with this Covid going around it may be slim chances.

Mama Bear—You are right that the shin splints won’t kill them or leave them lame for life but they can be miserable! Hopefully he will get better sooner than the end of BC! You are correct that ROM and P-Days do not count as part of the Training. So Correct me but he’s been gone for nearly 5 weeks now? 2 Weeks ROM, 1 Week P-Days and 2 Weeks Training? I am just verifying the timeline so I make sure I give correct info to all the other New moms.
Carolyn—As you already know they do go outside but not to play or relax or just hang out. It’s really just to move from point A to point B. They are bundled up but it's so stinkin' cold I don't think they would really want to play out there for long. Some do get to go out and shovel the snow so there is always that to look forward to!!
Mykenzie—CONGRATULATIONS!!!! WHOOP WHOOP!!! Sailor in the HOUSE!!! WHOOP WHOOP!!! Let us know if you see him in the video!! It should be up shortly!!
Jayme0209 – So same state make it a little easier. It will be some time before he classes up but he should get weekend liberty eventually and as long as your numbers stay low you should be able to see him at some point. Keep in Mind that this is the Navy and things are always subject to change until they are over and COVID really has everything in flux. Your sailor will be the one best able to tell you. However the fact that it’s a short-ish drive (is 8 hours short??) and not a plane trip does make it easier to remain flexible! Join the P-Cola group when you are able and they can give you more detailed information there. When did your sailor leave?

Partyofseven- Today is the first day in 3 days I have not cried.....yet....I've been teary a few times so I guess that is a plus. Thanks for the info. I'll be wearing my son's Packers toboggan this weekend hoping they make it to the Super Bowl. Any chance the quarantined kids get to watch the game? My guess is no. :)
Chipmunk- I agree on the mask keeping us warm but I'm so tired of wearing them, especially at work.
Vintage- Thanks for the encouragement!!
BBH-My son has not seen snow in 10 years, so I'm sure shoveling it may not be his idea of fun, but you never can tell with him, he may love it! lol!
Jayme0209- did your son leave for bootcamp/quarantine this week? Mine shipped on Wednesday. He's going to A school in Pensacola as well. Supposed to be 25 weeks for him. I'm hoping to make several trips to see him if at all possible.

Carolyn, had to go check exactly where you were from when I saw that you were a Packer Fan. Thought it might be close to me but no avail. My son said he was watching the game with his suite mates, he is in SC. I don't think I mailed him even a jersey come to think of it, poor kid. Prayers these next two months fly by for you.
Mykenzie, congratulations, Bravo Zulu! Don't feel to bad. I couldn't find my son and that was before the mask. My niece send me pictures she snapped from off the live feed she saw him right away. You would think a Mom would be able to pick out their kid from thousands but nope, and I didn't even have a excuse(mask). Yeah for communication soon.
