USS Bataan LHD-5

mso ship11 Hello there, My son is just finishing A school in GL as well and will be joining Bataan in December.  He is looking for others who are going with him.  I sent you a friend request so maybe we can get our boys together.  I am worried too.

Can someone tell me where I find the Bataan family site?

does anyone know the "cut off date" ?  I sent a thanksgiving package, but not sur about if  a Christmas package will get there in time.. us post office insured it to be there in 1 week... we'll see.. tommorrow!!  Emails have been daily!!!  My sons first deployment as well... his meeting with Career development "higher ups"  said he will be in training for another year...not sure if it's in Norfolk..

   when do we need to start making reservation plans for homecomming.  If someone knows you can friend me or I will give my email address to you. Thanks in advance.

Well I hope we get somewhat of an idea. I have a 2 day drive and than I will hope for good weather.  I have to let work know real soon on when I'll be leaving and how long. My son gave me some idea but today he said he didn't know for sure anymore.  I know dates can change a lot.

my son got his Thansgiving Package last night. :-))   Everyone loved the

Puppy Chow to send at least 3 more big containers of it.  LOL

Just received an email from my son, he passed his EAWS board test.   :-)))))))))  Now he said he gets set of awesome wings that goes above his ribbons on his uniform..    SO PROUD!!!

Thanks!!  He was so sad when he didn't advance to E4 just missed that by not even 1/2 point.  So this brought his spirits up.

Hello Ladies, My Sailor is home!  He leaves for Africa before christmas and then will be flown to the Bataan.  I have a couple questions.  He says he doesnt want to take his laptop.  He wants to use his IPOD touch to communicate with us.  Is that going to work?  Does anyone know if there is a WIFI connection on board?  Anyone have any advice on what else he should take?

Oh, I see, I should send him with something for the shipmates christmas party?  I make some awesome baklava every year.  I will make sure to have a bundle for him to take:)

Funny thing is my sailor sent me the info of the Tiger Cruise and said sorry babe you can't go on it your forbidden. I said why am I forbidden and he said its because I have no self control when I finally get to see you. lol

For homecoming...will they know if they have duty or not??

I did a birthday cake in jar - does anyone have any other birthday ideas? After Thanksgiving and Christmas, I'm pretty braindead. Thanks. : )

He told me months ago that he might have duty on that day...I don't know if he was guessing or what. It would suck because I really want to go. I've never been to a military homecoming before.

I don't know about his duty section. He's an OS and he said he works in the master at arms shack...idk if that helps. 

Does anyone know if my Sailor needs his drivers license?  He lost it and is due to join the ship this month.

I don't have a military ID so what do I do to get in for the homecoming?

Jakesmom, Your son may need a valid DL depending on what his job is but in most cases he wont need it. I would recommend he bring his ssn and birth cert. because sometimes they do need 2 forms of ID.
