So I have a couple of people coming with son over for Thanksgiving on Friday. They have duty on Thanksgiving. Just remember when you are out shopping on black Friday if its in your budget and you see a Marine Corp toys for tots drop a toy off. Or drop a donation off at the nearest USO. I won't be shopping this year I will be feeding a group of sailors out at the San Antonio KOA.
  • partyofseven

    Hey Ajsmom,
Hope you had a wonderful time this week and cooking dinner for the sailors. That was such a great idea. My sailor came home so I was so happy.
    God bless you.
Also, after they graduate and they have their orders and if they aren't on a ship and being sent overseas will they go to a base that is close to a hospital or how does this work?
    I was wondering.

    Thanks

  • partyofseven

    Hey plina,

That's what mine is going to do also. Leave on the first. Hope your Thanksgiving was good. :)

  • DereksMom

@partyofseven Once they graduate and have their orders for a overseas base they usually live on that base and work at whatever military hospital is on base or military near by. If they get a C-School those will be in different places in the U.S for however long the program is some are 3 month to 6 month and longer, then they will get orders again when they finish that program.

Hello!  I am a new navy mom. My son is at GL and will PIR (Lord willin') 01/05/18 and fly to San Antonio.  I am wondering if Liberty phases are granted at particular times (every two weeks etc.), does in depend on the sailor, depend on the group/class he is in? We are in Texas (about 5 hours drive from San Antonio) and would like to come see him at Ft. Sam Houston as soon as possible.

  • MELNVIV

Our daughter also scheduled to PIR 1-5-2018 also how exciting and flying to San Antonio on that Saturday 1-5-2018 how exiting !!!! I know she's very exited for her journey
  • MELNVIV

Oops she flies out 1-6-2018 for San Antonio for A school
  • Susie

Hello Moms. My son has. Even at Ft.Sam Houston since mid November. My son says they are changing buildings, rooms and roommates. Why does this generally happen?
  • Joy

Hi Susie, my daughter has been there since November 10th and they have to move also. I am a little concerned with this move and their schedule... she is very overwhelmed with this chaotic schedule.

  • Susie

    Hi Joy,
Had your daughter mentioned why they are moving around? I wonder if this is s typical thing? Is your daughter coming home for the holidays?
  • Joy

Susie, she said they have bootcamp grads reporting while they will be on leave and will need the space, so the school was rearranging some things before our Sailors went on leave. YES, she will be home soon!!! Thank God! I was just in San Antonio last week for her birthday and I’m still anxiously awaiting her arrival! Lol

  • Susie

    Well all that makes sense.

Have a wonderful time with your daughter.
  • DereksMom

Hi Susie and Joy, My son has been in San Antonio since Aug. He Graduates this Monday the 18th of Dec, he will move from his room again to a temporary one because he will be waiting to fly out, it will be the 3rd time moving. From our understanding it is normal, and it is rushed. They have new sailors coming and going so just be prepared as they move along in this A-School. Good luck and wishing them all well through the program.

  • Joy

Good morning and thank you for the information DereksMom.

  • DereksMom

Hi Joy, You are very welcome, it does get a bit challenging at times, It's all part of their training.

  • Susie

Thank you Derek's Mom! Where is your son flying out to?
  • DereksMom

Hi Susie, We are in Florida and after Christmas we are driving him to his C-School in Pensacola, FL.

  • Ajsmom

so i know there are 600 pages of comments and I probably missed it. but my son says he Graduates 1-12-18 but not what time or anything. and will have to fly home vs driving back with us which is like 2 days lucky him. so he may get there before us. my question on average what time has graduations ceremonies been in the past?

  • yorkshirelass

Happy new year everyone, wondering if anyone has general info on graduation, my Son said His is on March 9th or 13th, a bit vague, are they usually on at particular day of the week and usual time like boot camp?

  • UTgw05

Hi, our son must be in the same group. He is thinking March 9th as well but is hoping to confirm it this week. Looking forward to going to San Antonio for graduation.

  • PumPum

When did your son started school? I have not heard from my sailor yet. He started first week on Dec 2017. Wonder if it could be the same with your son.
  • Susie

Hello All. My son says he graduates on March 22nd. Is there a graduation like the one at boot camp? My son says it's not as big. What is the graduation like?
  • partyofseven

    Hi yorkshirelass and UTgw05,

Hi ladies how are you? My sailor started school Nov 6 or 7th I believe and he's graduation he said is on March 7th. Not sure about the times yet but I did hear that they are more personal than the PIR one's. I'm sure will find out more when it gets closer.  :)

  • yorkshirelass

Party of seven and everyone- thanks for the info, my Son is often very vague with his info.He arrived in San Antonio Nov 4th and started class about a week later, states graduation is March 9th or 12th he thinks.I think his class number is  0345 maybe

  • M &G's mom

My daughter is in class 035. She doesn’t provide much information. She states she doesn’t know anything yet other than she THINKS last day of class is 3/9.

Anyone else have kids in this class?

  • PumPum

Anyone here has sailor in class 060 ?
By the way, I think counting for 19 weeks will be great that you will know the graduation date. I count my husband by 19 weeks and got his date on 04/13/2018. My friend's family teaching there just help me check and confirm me that class 060 graduate on 4/13. So if you are not sure, maybe you can count 19 weeks from the first date class start like me.

  • Retta

I have a son in class 060. He believes that’s the correct date. Does anyone know how the graduation works? Or if they get liberty right after or do they go straight to their next orders?

  • partyofseven

    Hey Ladies,

I found out my son's class, it's 030. Anyone have that class?

  • InnaY

    Hi Partyofseven,

my son ,Dmitriy is also in class 030. he's going to Verginia Beach at the end of A school. Do you know where your son is going next?

  • 222natty

My daughter is in 035 she says she thinks graduation is March 9

  • yorkshirelass

222Natty - mine is in 0350 and has told me graduation is 9th March

  • M &G's mom

My daughter is 035 and also told me 3/9

  • PumPum

Hi Retta, i heard from other Moms that they will have 2 weeks leave before their next duty station. Or if they go to C school, they will head straight there. Do you know if your son already has his next order? I think class is busy so I have not heard from my hub yet.
  • InnaY

    Hello ladies,

My son is in class 030 and said his graduation will be on 03/07. Also he will have two weeks off before he goes to his next duty.

  • partyofseven

    Hey InnaY,

How are you? Hope your holidays were great and you had a great visit with your sailor. I will have to ask my son if he knows your son. I'm sure they know each other.

Does every sailor get two weeks off if they are not going to C school? He hasn't mentioned this to me yet, as he wasn't sure. He will be going to Florida after A school. I was hoping for a little closer but that was ok since he is still state side.

  • plina

My son Eric is in class 010 and he is graduating on February 5th. I'll be going there, but I have heard nothing about waiting two weeks. He has told me that he has not been told when is he reporting to NAS Jacksonville. Does anyone else here has a child in class 010?

  • NICUnurse&navymom

    Plina,
My son is also in 010. He said that he will have about two weeks before reporting to his next duty station (he will stay in San Antonio). He said he bought a reader so he as able to access his information from a personal computer. He said it showed his report date for his duty station.
  • Susie

    Hello All,

My son is in class 045. I think he graduates march 22. He owes right to NC. I don't think he gets a leave till June. So is that C school?
  • EAJmom

Hi there! Any moms with corpsman in class 070?  My son said this class should graduate in mid April.  I believe I read on FB that C school sailors report directly to C school, other sailors get a week or two at home before reporting to next duty station.

  • julieanns

Hi all! My son is class 065. Graduation is 4/12. Any other 065 moms? Anyone have any recommendations for sending frozen goods to the base? My son asked for a homemade meal that he can reheat in the microwave. Suggestions?

  • Hospital Corpsmama

Class 075 here. Are there any other moms on here from this claaa? I’ve been waiting for e weeks for an address to mail some things to my sailor who states that they still haven’t received that information. It’s entirely possible that he missed the info but sounds as though there’s some other issues going on.

  • julieanns

Hospital Corpsmama my son just sent me a pic of his mailing address this last week. He got a form letter and then just wrote in his box/unit number. maybe ask your son if he's gotten that form yet

  • Hospital Corpsmama

Julieanns: Thank you; I'll ask him. He hasn't mentioned a form but did ay this morning that he was waiting by on a box number. Is so frustrating for him to have this freedom but not be able to answer a simple question like "what's your mailing address".

  • kyliesmama

    Hi,

My daughter is graduating tomorrow from San Antonia A School. Can anybody tell me if the graduation is going to be live streamed? She is in 005.

  • Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom

No, graduations from now on (A School, FMTB) are much more low-key than PIR and are not live-streamed.

  • Shelbie's Mom

Julieanns:  my daughter is class 065 also.  Was beginning to think she was the only one.  Glad you have the same graduation date.  I have sent her canned food but nothing frozen.  Good luck it seemed very complicated when I googled it.

  • julieanns

Shelbie's Mom, yay! Another 065! I can send things 2nd day air frozen but oh boy is it expensive. Maybe I will figure out something else to send.

  • Shelbie's Mom

Juliann’s:  my daughter wants ice cream from Greater (local to Cincinnati)). It’s 79.95 to  ship 6 pints!  So guess who is not getting any ice cream!

  • SailorMomfromNE

I sent frozen food to my Sailor son at Fort Sam thru Omaha Steaks website. They have a lot of microwavable meals to chose from. May also want to look into Schwann's.
  • DereksMom

When my son was at Fort Sam Houston, about 2 times a week he jogged or walked with his backpack to the commissary to get his dinners for the week and other snacks. It's about 2 miles away from their dorm, he said it was pretty nice because he got some exercise and bought the stuff he liked to eat. Just a thought....
