PattiP - where you been?  Haven't heard from you in a while.....what's the latest on your son getting out?  Any firm plans in place yet?

Son just texted and said he had misunderstood, it was just a practice PFA today the real Dash for Cash will be in a week or two. The funny thing is, that is what he had told me on Tuesday and then yesterday said it was today. I think he was more focused on his test. I said hopefully you got some of your jitters out this way!

J's/S'smom - If they are flying they will most likely be going over my head!! Some days the flight path goes over our place, not as often as it use to when one of the runways was being fixed though.

Chickpea13 - Check the Main Chat, if able, AZNuKeGma, told you that she would be at the March 9th graduation.

I just saw it and wasn't sure if she managed to convey that to you or not.

J's/S'smom - Are they in an area where they cannot get service from their provider?  Is that why the only call when there's wifi?

My son just passed digital now on to the last course, ICE. I hear it is so difficult. Then comps.....Prayers please....Graduation supposed to be March 16 (class 1749-T)

there is an app called, Whatsapp.  You can download that onto any phone Android and iPhone.  Anyone can make a call to anywhere in the world for free.  You don't need to be near WIFI in order for it to be free.  You can text and call.  I use it all the time to call a friend who is living in Istanbul.  There is never a charge.  Try it!!

Hello all, anyone have a nuke in class 1802?  I don't hear from mine often so it would be nice to have some information if anyone has any updates on their status?  I know they just started power school this week.

ok Nuke moms, I need some help.  My sailor cannot make it to his sister's wedding, so they want his sailor pic, life size face, on a stick as a prop for pics at the wedding.  He wants to use his portrait.  But the portraits I have are small, so blowing it up makes it look so grainy.  Not enough pixels. 

Anyone have ideas as to how to get this small face in a portrait blown up the size of a real face and on to a stick?

soccermom - we had B's boot camp picture put on a stick (I had posted some pictures of it previously or you can see them on my page).  A mom in our Blue Star Mom's group had them made but I don't know where she got them from.  Try something like Vistaprint.  They might be able to help.

Chipmunk - my son is ET.

 mjnavynukemom - That is interesting. My son is ET but his class is 1801-T, he is no where near power school yet. He isn't set to graduate A school until April 6th.  I believe the MM's who were class 1802 just had or are going to have their A school graduation and will start power school soon, but the ET's have 6 months versus the 3 months of the MMs, which is why I assumed your son was MM.

Hey everyone - this is being shared in the FB group. They are sending free care packages to the troops. You pick 4 items & they will ship them free of charge.  Easy peasy. It’s being done through Crown Royal so you have to enter  your birthdate to prove you are over 21.

soccermom19, you might still be able to order a larger photo from your son's BC graduation so it would be closer to life size for better resolution with enlargement. I'm pretty sure there was a form with our son's photos so we could order more if we wanted.

Comps for my boy and Z.horsey's girl tomorrow. The countdown is on for A school graduation on Friday. I just can't wait to see him! 

Our daughter, too, has comps tomorrow! She’s nervous about it,  studying a lot. Will be so glad when it’s over, what an achievement!

Prayers for those with comps tomorrow. My son will be there in a couple of months.

Proud Nuke Mom- My son told me they call ICE- I Cry Every Night. :/  My son isn't to that point yet but that part of the program has a reputation apparently. My impression is that none of this is easy!! They work so hard!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  We have weather back in the 80's today - only problem is there are some winds with it, which in turn lead to fires.  There was a fire burning in Malibu this morning but I think they got it contained fairly quickly thank goodness!

NavyNukeWife, I believe they start getting their E-3 pay in bc, but I am not certain of that.

Nuke wife- the first paycheck comes about 3 weeks into basic, it is E3 pay. It is very small. I think my son's was $50. They take uniforms out of the first paycheck. My son did not get leave between BC and A school, so you may need to have others help you move. Not sure about paying for the move, as my son is not married with a family. 

My son told us he "classes up" on Wed, so he should start class Mon. Excited and nervous for him at the same time. His only saving grace will be the required study time. He is really smart, just wont ask for help.

NavyNukeWife - I believe they should give your husband some time to go home and get you and help with the move to GC before he reports. It might not be much time though so you should have everything ready to go.  At least I know that when my son had PIR one of his buddies was married and he was given time to help with the move (of course it could have changed by now though).  Hopefully he'll get more info in BC and can relay this to you.  You should be able to move to GC right away as long as you were on his orders when he went to boot camp.  Again, they should be giving him info on housing. And like the others said, he will be getting E3 pay while in BC. Hang in there - you have a lot going on but try to relax for you and that baby!

My youngest just called - he said the interview went very well and they said they were going to recommend him for the program!!!!  He said he's not officially in yet, but it's looking good.  Let's hope the provost of the college agrees with the recommendation ;-D

Is this program out of the navy now?

kai cat - this is my youngest son - he wasn't in the navy (although I tried to convince him to join lol!).  He graduated college in 2016 and is now looking at graduate school.  He's one step closer now (to grad school, not the Navy!).

B'sNukeMoM⚓️MM - I have a non sailor son too.  JAG keeps sending him mail.  He says he is not Navy material.  I think the Navy is doing wonders for my other son.  But the other is not interested.  He went to college and then just finished law school May 2017.  He just now got a clerkship with a judge and didn't really have a job up until a couple of weeks ago, but even though he was starving (unless I kept giving him stuff out of my pantry and dropping off food), he still didn't want to consider military.  Says he can't take orders unless there is a discussion and he is on board.  LOL - like that would go well in the Navy.
