JayDee659 - When your SIL fell, he hit his head so hard he just doesn't remember getting the text :)

  • JayDee659

kai cat maybe....  More likely he doesn't need anything from me at the moment so I'm just an annoyance.

  • NancyJo (NNPTC)

JayDee, your SIL is very like my son. Sometimes he returns a message but he will almost never initiate one. The only time he does is when he is deployed and he knows I can't text him so he lets me know he's OK. But when he is stateside, like you, crickets. ps I was sad to hear the no snow/no ski story. Hopefully next year will be better.

B's Nuke, the house selling is grueling, isn't it? I'm so glad she's enjoying the new place! When my folks retired to town from the farm that they had lived in for 40 years together, we had many hands (9 kids after all, plus spouses) and it was still massive. It was the huge farmhouse, the barn, a variety of sheds, and then just stuff. Gah! That was also the house my dad grew up in so you have to factor in the grandparents stuff that was just too special to toss.

So great to hear about the PIRs and other progress our little sailors-in-training are achieving. Well done, Mamas!

  • Chipmunk

The Hammer - yes their time at GC is more like them being off to college, at least for us moms and for them, probably 3x the study intensity of most college students. It is helpful to have a roommate with some experience to help the new sailors along.

Lazerguppie - enjoy your visit with your sailor. I am sure he will appreciate the blanket!

B's Nuke - I can empathize with you on preparing a parent's property for sale!!  We managed with my parents, but this spring and summer I will be working on clearing out my aunt and uncle's!!

JayDee - You might want to check with your daughter's MIL - she may not have any text from her son and so your crickets response might be viewed with envy!

  • JayDee659

Chipmunk I'm guessing you don't have any married children yet?  Checking with his mother isn't worth it, that opens a can of worms that I just don't have time to deal with.  It would be nice to hear from him but even if he doesn't bother to respond, I've done my part and been a good MIL by checking on him.  He'll grow up eventually, I think.

  • kai cat

Bnukes- has your son moved to lansing yet?

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

Ah JayDee - you would think a text about a nice car would at least merit a response - heck, even just a thumbs up emoji would be nice!  Maybe he doesn't have a close relationship with his mom so he just doesn't know how to react when you reach out to him (but again a simple thumbs up would suffice!). (Or maybe he did hit his head lol!).Someday he'll figure it out :)

kai cat - school is out the beginning of May and his plan is by the middle to end of May to be moved to MI.  We were really hoping to make one more visit to VA before he leaves but right now I don't see that happening :(  I'm excited cuz he's coming to CA in a couple of weeks.  My other nephew is getting married so B's coming for the wedding.  Unfortunately his GF can't make the trip this time - but we will get to see both of them in June in Vegas.  One of their Navy friends is getting married there so a bunch of them are flying in.  (She's also a nuke, stationed in WA.)  So at least I know we'll get to see him a couple of times over the next few months!  Not sure when we will get to MI but I'm sure it will happen at some point in time.

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

NancyJo - yes, it has been grueling.  We've spent every weekend for the last month+ helping my mom. Problem is I'm an only child - right now I really wish I had siblings (and their spouses) to help out!. It's been me, hubby, youngest son and sometimes his GF has been able to help out.  But even youngest son isn't available both days on the weekend because he coaches track and field at the local high school and they've been having meets.  Luckily youngest has been able to go over during the week sometimes so that has helped.  Times like these I really wish B was still here!

And I'm so thankful my hubby doesn't mind helping out.  He just keeps reminding me that hopefully in another month or so this will all be behind us!

  • JayDee659

B'sNukeMom, he's hit his head but I think he was dropped as a child.

You'll have to let us know when you head to Michigan.  Since that's "home" I'm up there frequently.  Maybe Michigan will be kinder to us than Vegas was...

Welcome to our newest member ~ mamag!

Please be sure to read the ***NEW MEMBERS*** info at the top of the page.  Lots of good info there.  And of course, feel free to ask any questions you may have!

  • Chipmunk

JayDee - Actually, I have two married children, and sometimes I get responses from their spouses faster than I do from them. (mostly phone availability issues). I do understand that "in law" situations are not always the greatest. I guess I was just laughing to myself about your little comment and thought it was cute and figured, maybe you actually had more of a response from him than maybe his mother even has gotten!  And yes, you are being a good MIL reaching out to him!!

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

    LOL JayDee!

Oh and you know I'll let you know once I ever make it out that way!

  • NancyJo (NNPTC)

Well, I wasn't there but it looked like Vegas with you gals was a rather good time. ;)  I'm all over Branson but it doesn't sound like B'sNuke will be free to make that trip in a while.

  • kai cat

Bnukes - I am just waiting to take your son and GF to dinner/lunch!  I know all the best places around here! LOL  And these college kids at MSU never have any $ :)

I will keep waiting to send the invitation

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

awwww kai cat - that is so sweet of you!  I'll definitely pass the invite on to them once he arrives :)

Trust me NancyJo - I'm gonna need a trip lol!

  • Ceej0347

Just got word my SR’s rate is ET.

Less than three weeks until PIR.

It’s flying faster than I thought.

  • CSW

Congrats!  Your heart will go through your chest when you see your sailor at PIR!

  • Chipmunk

Ceej0347 - Exciting news!! And yes the time to PIR does fly faster than we think! Be sure to check my discussion on BCMoms group about Flying out from GL - and as time gets closer - Nuke A school daily schedule. The first section is in the pages to the right but there is more info in the discussion and is geared a little more to ET since that is my son's rate as well.  Be sure to read the other pages to the right also, they give you insight into what is ahead - always remembering Semper Gumby (stay flexible)!   Also, I think they will be in their dress whites by then, so plan accordingly and have a Tide to Go pen ready to send with him to GC.

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

    Hi all - Happy Tuesday!

Ceej0347 - yes, exciting news.  The next 3 weeks will definitely fly by!

Good morning everyone!! I want to say thank you to all of you! I so enjoy following the conversations and I learn so much from each and everyone of you. I'm sorry I don't respond more and individually. I have "issues" with using this site on my phone so I am not able to respond and many times I want to. By the time I get to my computer I can't remember who said what. So I apologize but please know I value all of you and this site for the support it provides me!! Thank you so much. I cheer for those with good and happy news and my heart breaks for those who have difficulties in life and in the pipeline process. I have to say I've never met a more intelligent, supportive and kind group of women in my life. It's just so amazing. I wish so much that I could know you all by name and face (then maybe my 55 year old brain could keep you all straight. LOL!! )

I did want to share some exciting news to the conversation!! My son is in A school to be an ET and his graduation coming up in May and I am so excited! He was able to get reservations for us at the Foster Creek Villas!! I really thought I had waited too long and that they would all be taken!! But for once I got lucky!! My daughter is not happy because I hear they either don't have wifi or its really bad but hopefully we can come up with strategies to overcome that issue!! I heard someone was able to connect through the camp ground wifi. We shall see. It's becoming real now and I can't wait to see my son. I haven't seen him since January 1st!! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. After he told me he was able to get the Villa he said "guess I have graduate now" LOL!! Yup cause I'm coming!! LOL

Hope everyone is having a happy hump day!! :)

  • Rebecca J

NNLori....congratulations on your sons A school graduation. Each milestone is so important and I'm so glad you are able to go. Enjoy your time with him. Be sure and attend power school graduation. It is impressive.
I'm hoping to have my sailor home for Easter weekend but he is not sure yet. Someone has to switch with him in order for him to come home.

Happy Wednesday everyone. I'm looking forward to Easter weekend and family dinner!
  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

NNLori - that's what we are here for - to help everyone through this crazy nuke pipeline in any way necessary.  No need to apologize my friend!  I too have a hard time responding from my phone but I'm lucky in that I sit at a desk all day so I can keep up with what's happening (during the week anyhow!).  The weekends I read but don't respond as much.  And I agree ~ it's gets a little difficult to keep everyone straight sometimes (especially since I know many of you on FB too) but that's ok - no one will get hurt feelings (I hope!).

And that is wonderful news that your son got you a reservation at the Villas - May can't come soon enough lol!

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

Rebecca J - I hope that the "switch" works out and you get to spend Easter with your son!

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

    Good Morning!

  • CSW

  • bigsky21

NNLori, which class is your son? Mine is scheduled to graduate A school in May too, class 1807-T.

B'sNukeMom, is it OK to post a group photo of class 1807-T on here? I have one taken this week before their dash for cash....

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

bigsky21 - it's ok as long as no last names are visible.

  • bigsky21

I'll check to make sure, but I don't think there are any names - they're all in their gym clothes.

  • bigsky21

This is 1807-T before their Dash for Cash this week - wish I had an "after" shot as well :)

  • JayDee659

bigsky I love the picture!  It reminds me of my daughter's ROTC days a they wore the same PT gear.

I would like to wish all you ladies a happy Easter.  My company is closed tomorrow in observance of Good Friday so today is my last day this week.  I hope you all hear from your sailors.

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

Aw what a fun picture!  Hopefully someone sees their Sailor there too!

Have a wonderful Easter JayDee!  I hope you get to talk to both your girls :)

  • KayCee

bigsky21 - I love the pic and I spy my son!  You made my day... thank you so much :)

  • bigsky21

KayCee, I know how you feel, made my day when my son sent it to me!! :)

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

KayCee - Yay!!! So happy you spotted your son in there :)  definitely makes for a good day!

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

Hey everyone - don't forget to wear your RED tomorrow!

  • kai cat

B'sNukeMoM⚓️MM - Do you do the graphic design on all the awesome pics you send to us?

bigsky21 - I LOVE this picture!!!  OMG - they all look soooo happy!  I am surprised they are wearing yellow though.  I figured all their stuff is blue and white (except their new green camo!).  I can't wait to see me son doing this....a long away..

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

kai cat - No, I'm not creative at all lol!  Google search is my best friend for pictures and stuff :)

  • Rebecca J

The sailor suit on a 7 year old would be adorable in my opinion!
  • SubMom

I hope everyone has a Blessed Easter. For those who are traveling to PIR or lucky enough to visit their sailors - enjoy!!!

  • soccermom19

so, I guess this is a dumb question, but I'll ask anyway.  Does A School graduation have the same "Pomp and Circumstance" as PIR did?  So all the same hoopla, everyone all very decked out in their best, same as PIR?  Sorry if this is a dumb question, but trying to figure out what to wear to the event because I am roaring in and roaring out to be there because of my new job and I'll be lucky to get time to change.

  • JayDee659

Soccermom19 the sailors will be in their dress uniforms. It's a shorter ceremony, more to the point. I wore nice black jeans and a dressy shirt and felt perfectly comfortable.

  • Chipmunk

soccermom19 - hope things are going well with your new job!! And I think dressing nice, but comfortable, will be just fine.

    Happy Easter to all!!

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

Hi all - Happy Friday!!!!  What a week lol!

soccermom - A school is more comfortable and I'm sure you'll be fine it whatever you choose to wear.  How's the new job going?
