Hi all - Happy HOMECOMING day USS VINSON!!!!

    NancyJo -woohoo!!!!!

RebeccaJ - I'm sorry to hear there is a problem on your sons sub - I sent you a PM.

Kbpoohbear - thank you for posting that reminder for everyone.  We do need to keep in mind that this is an open forum and anyone can see what is posted.

  • NancyJo (NNPTC)

    Woot! Woot! Almost there!

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

    It's beautiful NancyJo!

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

Momofbyron - so glad to hear that your son is settling in!

PacNWmom - can't wait to see some pictures of the before/after kitchen remodel.  Have fun on your ladies weekend - sounds like it is much needed ;-)

Submom - enjoy your visit next month with your sailor.  I'm sure he'll be happy to have his car.

OR_NavyMomx2 - good to hear your son is enjoying prototype.  That was my sons favorite of all the schools.

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

Gosh, can't they drive that thing any faster lol?!?

  • CSW

So change of subject. We're planning on visiting our sailor at Prototype in NY. Any recommendations for good places to stay? We're working to make it for his four day weekend in June and we know things are filling up.  THANKS!

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

CSW - The first time we visited NY we stayed at the Roosevelt Inn & Suites in Malta.  The 2nd time we stayed at the Hyatt Place Saratoga/Malta for graduation.  I recommend both.

  • CSW

THANK YOU. We'll look those up.

Have a great afternoon. It's getting easier cause it sunny here but more snow expected by the weekend.

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

NancyJo - I hope your son's off the ship!  Have you been able to talk to him yet?  I bet the littles are so excited to see him ;-)

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

We pick B up late tonight at the airport in San Diego.  Can't wait.  Tomorrow B will get to see gmas new place, nephews wedding is Saturday and then we hang out back in San Diego on Sunday and he flies back to VA Sunday evening.  Quick trip, but hey, I'll take it!  I probably won't be on here much over the weekend (I'll try to pop in but no guarantees!) so you all just carry on without me lol!

Don't forget to wear your RED tomorrow!

    Have a fantabulous weekend!

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

  • SubMom

Rebecca J - you are in my prayers.

  • Rebecca J

Submom....thank you. I'll let everyone know when things get better. I am.counting on it!

  • Buzzbeck

Rebecca J: Your sailor became a nuke which took herculean stamina and grit, so he can get through this too. Praying for him!

Nancy Jo: That must have been quite a site seeing his shop come in!!

  • NancyJo (NNPTC)

B'sNuke, if you see this in the middle of B's visit, have a great time! We'll try to carry on without you! ;)

Yes, I had a nice chat with my sailor. Everyone's so happy he's home! His 5 yo waited somehow for Daddy to get home before she lost her first tooth last night, and today the kid's request was 1 more visit to Sea World.

I said to my son that deployments are hard but it's sad for me to say goodbye to the CVN70. He said, "Not me!" Yep, he's ready to move on to the next thing. He already began to clear out his rack.

RebeccaJ, N4M hugs. Let the dust settle and I bet things get better. Prayers for you both.

Well, today in NE it should hit 80*, then tomorrow snow. Welcome to the midwest.

  • Chipmunk

Congratulations to any sailors this week both at GL and GC!!!

For those unaware, as I said little about my trip here, I left OK on the 3rd with my youngest and drove to GC for 1801-T graduation last Friday, we arrived back home later last night and am I thankful that I was not driving home today in the high winds and now the smoke!!

Please keep OK in your prayers. We have wildfires that have burned 200,000+ acres and a state of emergency for 52 counties so far. Our beautiful sunset is being masked by a foggy haze and smoke over the city right now.

NancyJo - we have the same weather going on 80+ degrees and freeze warning for tomorrow!!

  • Ceej0347

Sitting at the airport waiting for my ‘nuke’ to board his plane.  Navy way ‘hurry up and wait - arrived 0dark30, boarding 1xsunset. Yes 15+ hours and is Navy Nuke Moms enjoying every minute of it.

would love to get on the fb page for nukes- can anyone direct me??

  • momterp

Ceej0347 Congratulations and you are only experiencing the beginning of 'hurry up and wait'! It's a fun ride!! I don't belong to FB so can't help you there. I'm so glad you have gotten to have all day with your sailor!

  • proudNukemom

Ceejo347 I can help you get on the nuke fb page. I’ll friend you and will let you know by private message

  • soccermom19

Hi everyone.  What is a good challenge coin for A school graduation for my ET?

  • Chipmunk

Ceej0347 - Congratulations on your son's PIR!! I am glad that you were able to have some extra time with your sailor at the airport. You never know what flight the Navy will get, so every circumstance is different. I am glad it worked out for you to be able to stay with him.

Soccermom19 - I honestly didn't even think about a challenge coin. Just driving to GC, was a gift enough for my son, at least so I thought. Hopefully, someone else will have some ideas.

  • Buzzbeck

Ceej0347: Congratulations on your sailor's accomplishment, and good luck to him, as he enters the Nuke Pipeline at GC. You must be very proud.

  • Nukelukesmom

Soccermom19 Amazon sells a Petty Officer 3rd Class challenge coin. We got that one for our son since we could not find one that related to the A school graduation.

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

    Hey everyone - Happy Monday!

NancyJo - Oh that's so sweet that daddy was able to be home for that first tooth to come out!  And I hope they were able to get to Sea World one more time ;-)

We had a fantastic time in Temecula and then San Diego this weekend for my nephews wedding.  Of course I'll share a few pictures a little later.  The visit was too short but we made the most of it!

BZ to those that had PIR and A school grads and Power school if there were any of those too!  On to the next phase!

Rebecca - I hope things are improving for your sailor.

Ceej0347 - were you able to get on the FB page?  I can help if need be.

Chipmunk - glad you had a good time at A School graduation and sending prayers for the wildfires to be contained quickly.

  • NickSydmom

I just got back from goose creek this morning. I had a wonderful visit with my sailor. He passed A school! I loved calling him petty officer. One school down and two to go.

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

Welcome to our newest members ~ Kristenz12 and UpNorth!

Please be sure to read the ***NEW MEMBERS*** info up above and of course, feel free to ask any questions you may have.

  • Kristenz12

Hello, everyone! I’m happy to be part of this group. My husband is currently at Prototype in GC and we live in the area. If anyone needs information about the area or the schooling, I am happy to assist! Let me know if you have questions!
  • Chipmunk

NickSydMom - Congratualations on A school graduation!! Glad you had time with your son.

Kristenz12 - Welcome to the group!! I am sure some of us newer moms to the pipeline will have questions for you. My son is ET, but we still don't know yet whether he will for sure be staying in GC for Prototype or not. He just finished A school.  - Feel free to add your own comments on any of the above discussions, especially ones about things to see, or do, or places to stay in GC / Charleston.

  • NancyJo (NNPTC)

Welcome aboard new moms! You've come to the right place for support. Don't be afraid to ask questions because we all have had those same questions. Best advice I got: be flexible because it's all needs of the navy in navy time.

The Nebraska Navy moms, some of us anyway, got together for lunch on Saturday. The weather was cold and yucky but that didn't stop us. Love those face-to-face moments. We're all different but we're all in the same boat.

  • JayDee659

Ladies, do we have any Truman moms on here?  There's a lady on our Mom's of Daughter's Group who needs to hook up with the Truman family FB page.  I'm at a loss on how to help her with that but I'm hoping one of you can help - B'sNukeMom?

  • NancyJo (NNPTC)

ps B'sNuke, so glad you had a good time! Yes, of course, pictures! Please share!

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

JayDee - I saw her post - I'll send her the link to the Truman page.

NancyJo - so glad you had a mom's get together!  Any pictures to share?

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

The dog was happy to have him home!

This was at the wedding (hubby was not happy wearing pants lol!)

No visit is complete without a trip to In N Out!

And of course - a visit to Ocean Beach (San Diego)

  • JayDee659

    Thanks B'sNukeMom!

  • NancyJo (NNPTC)

Awww the dog pic melts my heart. <3<3<3 Great pics! Isn't it great to have the whole family together? Hate to see it end but it sounds like a great visit. So happy for you!

  • Rebecca J

B nukes mom. ..great pictures.  So.glad you had time together!

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

NancyJo - this was when B left <3

And one final one of all the cousins.  My boys are the bookends (for the longest time I had the oldest and youngest until my SIL had her son):

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

When B was home we somehow got on the topic of ironing in bootcamp (I think because I saw him pull his full suit out of his backpack and it didn't have to be ironed!) and I had to chuckle again about how he said he NEVER ironed anything in bootcamp!  He figured out how to fold his clothes (underwear included) just so and then he would warm up his hands by rubbing them together and then he would lay the clothes out on his coffin rack (in bc the rack lifts up and the storage is underneath where they sleep).  He would then continue to "press" them with his warm hands and he said once he was certain there were no wrinkles he would carefully lower the lid.  I asked him why?  and he said the only time you could sign up for ironing in BC was during lights out (which was 10pm-5am) and he said he would rather sleep lol!  And he always got the highest marks on his uniforms lol!  He said the key though was to make sure you had your creases exactly right!

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

Boy Patti - they're really taking this hurry up & wait thing to the extreme!

  • SubMom

B'sNukeMoM - awesome pictures. Thanks for sharing!

Chipmunk - prayers to your family and others facing the wildfires.

  • soccermom19

B'sNukeMoM⚓️MM - Great pics!!!  I'm sure you are very happy to have him home!!!

  • soccermom19

I am so very happy.  My son called to say that he passed everything.  So now with that worry behind, I am busy getting ready for graduation this Friday!!  Long drive.  But it will be great to see him.  I have a new job and been working very long hours the past couple of weeks but they did agree to let me off.  I am very excited!

  • Rebecca J

Soccermom19. ..congratulations.  So glad you get to go..it is an amazing experience ...one you will never forget.

  • Chipmunk

soccermom19- Congratulations!!! I was wondering last night if you had heard anything yet. Safe travels.

  • proudNukemom

    soccermom19 : congratulations! Hooyah!

  • NancyJo (NNPTC)

Oh B'sNuke, love the cousin pic. They all kind of look alike. Isn't that something, considering they get DNA from both sides. Cool.

PattiP, it's got to be soon! Fingers crossed you all won't be waiting much longer.

Congrats, soccermom! Which graduation is this? Is it PowerSchool or A school? I can't remember. Safe travels, Sea Sister and all the other navy travelers coming up this weekend.

  • soccermom19

NancyJo - This is A school graduation.  Class is 1803-T.

And if there are any other Sea Sisters heading out this Friday to GC, give a shout out!!!
