Aw JayDee, I'm sorry. Hang in there, Sea Sister. Get better before Christmas!

  • SubMom

JayDee659 - I hope you feel better soon!

CSW - so happy that your son made it home safe and sound

  • CSW

    JayDee

so sorry to hear....I chose not to get a flu shot this year, we'll see how it goes. Hope you're feeling better soon.

  • JayDee659

Thanks for the well wishes.  I do feel better than I did yesterday.

Just got a call from the kennel where my Nuke has her dog while she's out at sea.  Poor dog had a tooth come loose and it was pointing in.  I approved the vet care then they called me to say the tooth fell out in the vets waiting room and my granddog was acting happy again.  The up side is that they said they put pictures on their FB page and will add me as a friend so I can see my grand dog!

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

JayDee - sorry to hear you got the flu - ugh, no fun!  I got my flu shot this year too (I usually do) so hoping I don't end up sick.  I hope you are better by Christmas ~ my sister in law has been out of work over a week with it.....Ah, I'm glad to hear your granddog is ok.  And how fun that you can see pictures on FB!

  • Freebird

JayDee659.  Sorry you have the bug! Yuk!

If you ever have questions about dogs and cats I can definitely help.  Don't ask me about others animals, but I am pretty well versed about dogs and cats.  Seems to me your Nuke's dog needs a dental cleaning.  I will be happy to give you some advice on direction with that.  Don't know anything about nuclear power, but I know a lot about veterinary medicine!!

  • JayDee659

Thanks Freebird but in this case the dog just had a complete cleaning and check. She was a rescue and there were some issues before she was rescued that I prefer not to get in to here and now.  I've had dogs all my life and we raised and bred Boxers before we decided to go all rescue. Thanks for your input though.

Exciting weekend for our family. Our daughter graduated college with her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing. We surprised her by having our Sailor home for her graduation. They have always been very close. It made a special day even better! (The first picture is 3 of my 4 kids. We decided the 2 year old would not enjoy the commencement activities. Lol)

  • CO-TwinSalorsMom

Congratulations on your daughter's graduation. That was my first degree. Good field. So special that her brothers could both be there. Love those surprise visits.

Love all the cartoons. They put a smile on my face. I am taking a couple of days off to get ready for my two to come home. Right now they are together in Hawaii having twin adventures.

  • ProudOfK

Wow CO-Twinsailorsmom - looks amazing. So nice the can be together.

Nukelukesmom - congrats to your daughter! My mom was a nurse and I have sisters and a nephew that are. Super super your nuke could be there!
  • bigsky21

    Love seeing everyone's pictures :)

Getting excited for PS grad this Friday - who all from here is going? I will recognize KC, but I don't think I've met anyone else...

Keeping all the kids in my thoughts today as they prepare for comp tomorrow! Good luck to all!!

  • NancyJo (NNPTC)

Nukelukesmom, I just love that your sailor surprised your daughter. What a beautiful family. 2yo? I have a dear friend who adopted her sister's baby (long story) when her youngest was 12. That little girl is 16 now and they can't imagine what they did without her. Congrats on the graduation, the sailor coming home, and having them all together.

COTwin, love this! I think of your guys often. They look so happy to be together. Hawaii sounds pretty great right now. I know you are looking forward to them being home.

Last full week before Christmas. Can we even believe that? I hope lots of sailors make it home. Let us know all about those visits, for those of us who don't have our sailors home.

  • Chipmunk

Nukelukesmom - great shot of the homecoming!! Congrats to your daughter.

CO-Twin - what a wonderful time for your boys to be together.

Thoughts and prayers for all with Sailors going through PS comps tomorrow. Do we have anyone with A school comps today?  It will be a busy time at GC on Friday. Be extra early and have invite, and IDs. Hopefully the weather will be nice and able to have ceremony outside but if indoors, it will likely be split between two groups as in OCT. Be sure to get last minute info from your sailor.

So happy for everyone that will have boots in the house at Christmas.

  • Mammagoose

Big sky.....I will be there too!  Maybe we can meet up....

  • bigsky21

mammagoose, I think we have some of those stickon name tag labels here at work somewhere - if I can find one I will wear it! ;)

  • Mammagoose

I think a great big sign like what they do at airports saying NUKE MOM might be in order

  • Nukelukesmom

NancyJo, My kiddos are 22, 20 16, and 2! As a family we have fostered 21 kids and we have been blessed by adoption 4 times. Our caboose was a 3 day old foster when he came into our lives. When the question was posed if we wanted to adopt him a year later we just could not say no. We often get asked if he's our grandson. Lol We just smile and say "No, he's just a little extra gift from God." Like your friend we could not imagine our lives without him. This is Mr. A. He will be three years old in January.

  • Rebecca J

Nukelukesmom....how wonderful.  Your almost 3 year old is adorable. What a blessing. Congratulations to your daughter.

I will be with my sailor all day tomorrow! !! We got a private tour of the sub this afternoon.

  • SailorsLIMom

Nukelukesmom, That's a beautiful picture!  What a life you've had with these kids, and what a life you've given them!  We adopted our Nuke daughter at the age of one day from Florida, and she and our (older) biological son are oh so close.  We're older parents ourselves, and our daughter is of a different ethnicity, but the "grandmother" comment was rarer than we'd anticipated.  No matter, it's all family.  Keep up the good works!

  • NancyJo (NNPTC)

What heartwarming stories. We already know navy moms have big hearts. The thing about love is how it grows bigger the more it is given away.

RebeccaJ, enjoy today with your sailor. I'm jealous of the sub tour!

  • NancyJo (NNPTC)

Oh, I forgot to say how adorable little Mr. A is. I'm a sucker for red hair. <3<3

  • Chipmunk

Nukelukesmom - what a darling picture!!! Your son's smile reminds me of one of my niece's who also has red hair!! I also thought of Opie from Mayberry!!

All the best to all of our sailors testing today!!

ElizabethE - Welcome Aboard!! Be sure to introduce yourself and ask questions. My son is currently in Prototype at GC.

  • Chipmunk

A busy day for us, my youngest turns 16 and has his Christmas Band concert this evening, including setting up instruments early at the church venue. So, I will probably be silent the rest of the day but may your day be productive and filled with peace and joy! Waiting to see if my sailors Christmas package arrives today, USPS said it was to get there yesterday!

  • AZNuKeGma

Add info on KTN numbers, I work for a major airline. Travelers with dod numbers really don’t need to add them to reservation. They are already pre screened in the system. The KTN box is for. Global entry numbers & Trusted travel or TT numbers..Good to know about Sandbox

  • SubMom

Nukelukesmom - love Mr. A - he is adorable! My sister and step-daughter are red heads as oh so beautiful.

Chipmunk - I burst out laughing at your Mayberry comment - my hubbies nickname is Opie :)

Wishing all sailors and their families a relaxing and blessed Christmas.

  • Love2Read

Question: Do you have any idea when they would fly out to A school after graduation? My SR is graduating 1/18 and is going to South Carolina.

  • Chipmunk

Love2Read - if you go to BCMoms page I just bumped my discussion -
What PIR weekend may be like for those flying out of GL

back into the cue on the discussions there.

Generally they fly out on Sat from GL to GC (Goose Creek, SC). Sometimes they don't fly till Sunday depending on the airline flights. But there are also various other scenarios, especially with the Nukes that you can read about in that discussion.

    Congratulations!!

  • Scram

Our sailor flew out Saturday afternoon to SC but the bus left Great Lakes for the airport at 3:45 a.m. Saturday.  We met him at the airport for breakfast, then he went to the departure gate to sleep and we headed home.

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

Hi all - sorry I've been AWOL.  Caught me a stomach bug over the weekend and ended up in the ER yesterday getting IV fluids.  Not having a good time :(  JayDee - are you feeling better yet?  Hubby and I are getting ready to head to the airport to pick up B&C - I'm hoping my strength returns soon.  Of course I know I'll feel better when I see them!  I'll get caught up on posts soon I promise!  Love seeing the pictures you are sharing!

  • Chipmunk

B'sNukeMom - sorry to hear you are not well. Hope you feel better soon!! We have you covered so take it easy.

  • ProudOfK

B'sNukeMom - so sorry to here you've been sick. Hope you get feeling great so you can enjoy your family.

So we've had a pleasant surprise. We were so disappointed when our sailor wasn't able to make it home for TG and it seemed like a long wait for him to get her on Dec 6th. The plan was for him to fly out Xmas day. Well things have changed and he will be with us through New Years Day. He's still headed for the Vinson just at a little later date. Needless to say we are just ecstatic to have him for the extended time. So things that don't seem so great at the time can turn out just wonderful. I want to always remember to have a spirit of thankfulness - even when it doesn't seem so easy.
  • bigsky21

Awwww B’sNukeMom, hope you feel better soon!

PS comp grades are out - N passed with room to spare so I’m bound for GC this Friday! So excited for him, he sounded so relieved :)

  • ProudOfK

Congrats to your sailor BigSky21! Power School grad is awesome.
  • ProudParent

What a tough night. My kiddo passed comps but he is tore up a close friend didn't. There were six in his group that didn't pass and he is taking it hard. I feel so bad that he can't enjoy this moment of his accomplishment because he cares so much about his friends. The kids that didn't pass have to stay at GC until re-comps. His friend hasn't been home or seen his family since he left for bootcamp the summer of 2017. Heartbreaking for him and his family.
