Northwoodsmom - Thank you so much!! Those are adorable! I was trying to picture the cookie in my mind but to no avail. Bless you as I know your heart was in each one of those cookies and all the love you shared with the students when delivering their meals.
mamaquilt68 - I am glad you found your sailor on the list! Bravo Zulu to him!!!
CSW - I had a link I was going to share with you, sorry it may be late. Check your My Page.
Hubby and I just went out to look at Jupiter and Saturn. We could see them separately with the binoculars. Because we had been viewing them the last few nights, we would almost make them out separately with just our eyes, but they looked close enough that it was more like a distorted speck.
Ohh CSW - you got me teary eyed there. I’m sharing my Sailor’s hug to you. Hug really tight virtually to y’all.
Chipmunk thank you - you still remember when Anti M posted the picture on BC page? My last page I read was Thanksgiving..
Northwood- love love your cookies. I wish you’re closer I would like to watch (help) you prep and decorate those if it’s okay with you (my mom and grandma didn’t want me around when they’re baking)
We’re too foggy and raining for a couple of days now so no Saturn and Jupiter catching for me. And Tennessee is the highest pointer COVID cases all over the country (and the highest county where I live and work). I’m worried for my Sailor being home.
Have a Blessed Holidays all. Thank you so much for being a part of this group.
B'sNukeMom - That touches this Snoopy / Peanuts loving heart of mine.
Merry Christmas to everyone and now this Momma must sign off and go get presents wrapped. I am getting to old to stay awake till Christmas morning doing so and some years we do Christmas a day early!! Which means Christmas Eve traditions are early as well.
Good morning everyone! I heard from my son last night. We were able to facetime. He looked so good and happy! It made my heart sing. He at GC and ready to move forward. Merry Christmas everyone!
Hi all - just received word that the COVID vaccine has arrived in GC and they have started administrating it to sailors in the nuke program. (And I verified that this is ok to post.)
Well I don't know how I feel about this. Hopefully they won't give everyone of them the shots just in case down the road there is a problem. I don't do well with vaccines and ended up extremely sick 7 out of the 8 years I received one. Last two years I opted out and never got sick. Same for my son, last 3 years I had him get the shot he was sick right along with me. Had perfect attendance up to that point. Just saying we all got different immune systems, I had Covid and handled it fine but my mom did not so I don't know the answers. I just wish we had more time to see what the side effects are.
Thanks for the prayers and well wishes! Suzy PW, Gigi, Chipmunk and BsMom thanks so much for the words of wisdom. P has separated from Navy, but will be in DTP for awhile. It seems he was masted at some point (spoke in general terms to ombudsmen to get more info) which is why he's on restrictions. The 10 min call a day was not enough to change his mind! Still trying to get all info from him. He doesn't have to pay anything back cause he hadn't received the nuke bonus yet. Depending on how they classify the discharge will depend on any benefits. He may possibly have one last chance to change his mind, but feel he is unlikely to. Also discharge code will determine if he can reenlist at some point. There's too much info to try to gather at this point, so he's plugging along and glad he's not stressed & is sleeping better. Will lurk here for awhile, as I really enjoy you all and keep you all and especially the sailors in prayer.
Hope the vaccine will be ok for all! The pics of boots in the house are awesome! Also many creative ideas-love the snowman cookies!
I am so thankful that they opened up the mail room, my son got his birthday present and Christmas present today. I put a little tree that he could decorate in the box as well. Now I don't feel that he thought we forgot about him.
Ksailmom, I have no words or experiences for you but I want you to know you are in my prayers and thoughts along with your son. My son never had to do any studying in school but now he has his nose in the books all of the time and he struggles at times. I can tell because he doesn't call hardly at all. He is a proud young man and I know he doesn't want to disappoint us, but the only thing I want for him is to be happy. I know you want the same for yours. The stress is beyond what many can absorb so I pray that your son can find happiness in whatever he chooses to do. I am grateful that he was willing to protect my freedoms, but strong enough to know this wasn't for him at this particular time in his life. We stand also with you for the Sacrifices you have made on his journey, God Bless you!
Ksailmom - it took strength for your son to make the decision that the Navy was not for him. I pray for you both during this transition time. I know it can be painful. We moms are their biggest cheerleaders and we mourn when they change paths. Ultimately, all we want us for our kids to be happy. I look forward to hearing from you again when you both are happy again.
Ksailmom - I agree, no shame in deciding the Navy is no longer for him. I'm sure there is something bigger waiting for him. Please keep us posted on what happens.
Northwoodsmom - Yay that your son got his gifts! Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas to him!
Shortcake - so happy you were able to facetime. I remember the pure joy I felt with my first post BC facetime with my son.
NWM - happy to hear your son got his gifts. Since we did not hear until late 12/18 that we were allowed to travel to GC, I was sure it was denied and started to imagine my son would not get his gifts.
My heart is so happy today since we are all here in GC with my son. Bought a little tree and decorated it. So much fun!
Good Morning everyone! Merry Christmas on this Christmas Eve day!
Northwoodsmom - I am sooo happy that your son received both his b'day and Christmas presents!
Ksailmom - Thank you for the update on your son. I am glad to hear that he will not have to pay back any bonuses. I know that has been an issue for others and did not want your son to have any surprises. As the others have stated, we are all here to encourage both of you in any way that you can and you are most welcome to stick around!
The DTP discussion that is in the queue above is our most up to date, to my knowledge. Please feel free to post any additional comments or information to that discussion as you glean from your son.
Belated Merry Christmas from me! We have a couple of family celebrations and just too much going on.
D'sMom2020 - I love your tree! I am so happy that you are able to share Christmas joy with your sailor. I am sorry I missed your post.
I know this holiday season can be both joyful and exciting, especially with seeing little ones and their faces light up with new things, but it can also be somber and a reminder of what we have lost or years we can no longer retrieve except through memories. I am thankful for my family who I can offer hugs to and who can give me hugs in those saddest moments.
It is not the same, and we as humans need to be touched and held, but I do send many hugs to all of you. I know how important it is to us as Moms to see our sailors get their gifts, or a facetime, to have someone able to reach out and do a little extra for them. I am thankful for my son's gf who helped me, not only by providing a home cooked meal for my sailor's Christmas dinner, but sharing and giving to some other sailors as well.

We are on our way home after Christmas with our sailor. I’m thankful we got to see him and spend time with him, but it’s not easy to say goodbye, not knowing how long it will be until we see him again. This picture was taken Sunday afternoon at Folly Beach. You can see the lighthouse in the background.
Well mine did get to come home for a few days and left again already. It was good to have him in the house even though we could not really do anything due to his and our restrictions. Maybe in a way it was a good thing. No running around seeing others just sleeping, playing games, and beating mom as usual at most of them. He only let me take a couple of pics with the promise not to share.
Gifts were mostly ideas for here and the nuke fb groups. Pen lights that have his name on them, extra fine writing pens for the logs, cash for misc, and a few items for the new apt such as a pair of good kitchen scissors which as we all know are jack of all trades. The big gift was a Switch which he loved. (saw that one last year and kept it in mind) So thank you everyone.
MyKidsMom - love Folly Beach! What a great picture ;-D
New Adventures - glad you got to spend some quality time with your son - woohoo!

Happy New Year to all!! Here is hoping to a new and better year!
Well we were blessed to have boots in the house for the holidays. My sailor is now in his transit time between GC and his next duty station and I am soaking it all in as much as I can while he is here as I know this will be the last time he is in this house for a long time. He is already been in contact with his boat and the command and it seems to be a tight knit group all texting him welcoming messages. Makes a mom's heart happy to know his co-workers he has never met are already looking out for him.
Looking forward to the New Year and all the wonders it beholds.
I do not come on the site often, but I continually read everyone’s comments. We were blessed to be with our son over the holiday. We drove to be with him because if he came to visit us he would need to quarantine upon his return. We had a wonderful time being with him, especially since he hasn’t been with us for Christmas for a few years. We also met his gf and her parents. Very nice family and we look forward to seeing them again. Best wishes to all for a safe and wonderful New Year.
Happy New Year Everyone!! We have watched one ball drop and ready for another one and then to bed! I finally got my Christmas letter w/ pictures emailed to immediate family and some friends. I will have to send the rest tomorrow!
Played cards last night and tonight: Catan - Trade Build Settle. It was the first time for youngest son, hubby and I. I was pleased I actually won!
Good Morning everyone!! If you didn't get any snow this weekend, feel free to go to my page and check out a couple of pictures I posted. Our Canadian Geese flock that seems to winter with us every year were fun to watch in the snow. They were forging for food and made a path in the snow. They flew away for awhile, I assume to go find some water in a nearby creek. It always interests me to see them come back each year and feed.
I was going to post on here that I woke up early this Sat morning so that I could have a good mom to son conversation time with my sailor who is in an earlier time zone. However, that booger, got himself ready for bed and then stayed up playing a computer game!!! Yep, my nerd husband and son, two peas in a pod! I was nice and when my phone call ended up waking him up instead of the other way around, I told him to go back to sleep. No sense having a good heart to heart conversation with a sleepy head - which is why we didn't do it last night - as I was the sleepy one.
Enjoy your day today! Maybe some of you will get to have some phone calls, facetime, video chat, Skype or Zoom!

Chipmunk
