MomofJoseph - I'm so very sorry for your loss.

  • CanukaVet

MomofJoseph -- I am so sorry for your losses. My thoughts and prayers for you.
  • CanukaVet

Catching up, our Nuke is on post-deployment leave so we are enjoying some family time far away from the ocean...voluntarily in snow country.

Hello ladies! Does anyone know where they will post the recorded video from A school graduation tomorrow? 03/04/2022 Thank you in advance

  • Chipmunk

mamabearto3 - First of all congratulations to your sailor!! I am not certain about the videos, I thought there was a FB page for NNPTC but all I am finding is one for buying and swapping items.

Here is the ombudsman information, scroll to the bottom of the screen and you will find contact information - she might be your best option if no one else is able to direct you.

mamabearto3 - the NNPTC FB page has pictures posted from today's graduation - Classes 2207-A & 2149-M.  Search "Naval Nuclear Power Training Command" for the group name.  They usually post the video on YouTube - and they do have a link in the FB group.

  • Chipmunk

B'sNukeMom - Thank you!! I might be able to type in NNPTC in Google Maps and get the right thing to pull up but I will remember next time to type it all out for FB - because the other was not doing the job.

mamabearto3 - I hope you were able to find what you wanted!! Again, congratulations to your sailor!!

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

mamabearto3 - I just checked the FB page and as of 45 minutes ago they had posted the YouTube video of the A school graduation - Class 2208-A & 2150-T.

    Good Morning Everyone!!

mamabearto3 - I hope you were able to find the graduation video.

Just saying hi!! I know our sailors are working hard, whether out in the fleet or at school. It seems like their training and qualifications never end. And sleep and work are always rotating schedules, at least for mine.  Thinking about everyone!

Good Morning Everyone - I sure would not mind hanging out at the beach with Snoopy and Woodstock!

  • Chipmunk

I am posting this link to a news article from my local area. I can't recall who this is relevant to, but if you message me privately or post on my page, then I will send the link to you directly and delete this post. Sorry - I just don't want to share it with the wrong person. We had chatted about it, but now I can't search easily for that chat.

Inside The Shrine: Remembering Blessed Stanley Rother (news9.com)

  • NancyJo (NNPTC)

Chipmunk, I don't think we talked about it or maybe we did, I don't remember. Stan was my cousin! I'll be in OKCity for the shrine dedication in November. Will you be there?

  • Tulip

Chipmunk, thanks for sharing this story. It wasn’t me that you were talking with about it but I’m so glad you posted it! What an incredible story. And how cool, NancyJo, that he is your cousin!
  • Chipmunk

Good Morning!! I don't know if anyone else had issues but I could not get logged into the site last night. I kept having error issues.

NancyJo (NNPTC) - I thought I had chatted with you but could not remember. I don't know if I will be at the shrine dedication or not but be sure to message me before that time and I will see. It has been very interesting to watch the shrine be built, from the bulldozing of the land and even what tended to just look like a dirt mound, to find out it had a purpose to the shrine itself. I have not been by it for some time now, but I need to take a trip over there.

Tulip - I am glad you were blessed by the story. My husband found the link for me. With our winter weather, we have had the local news on more and they announced doing this piece, but then we missed it.

Congratulations Pizanche! BZ to your son! Have fun in Charleston and try She crab soup and shrimp & grits if you like seafood.

Question: is there a submarine or carrier docked in San Diego right now? Can I visit and take a picture closer where they at? My niece’s bf assigned in SD, just wanted to take advantage of his ID to get in. Btw is it possible for me to get in with him? Will visit next week.

My son is doing good in Prototype just complaining about schedule. But he would still visits the gym even he complained being tired. It’s funny when he calls/FaceTime with his roomies on how to cook this, how to set the oven, what should I buy to cook this ..

    Everyone have a good weekend!

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

Gigi - the Vinson is in San Diego and they recently returned from deployment.  You can get on base with him but you won't be able to get on to the Vinson.  When B was in Norfolk he was attached to the Truman and he was able to get us on base and on to the ship for a tour.  But that's because he was on that ship. Again, you should be able to get on base with him and at least get a close up view!

    Enjoy San Diego!

  • CanukaVet

Gigi, I will try to answer your SD questions.
The carriers and subs go in and out. Right now, there is an active carrier docked but it is subject to movement. You can't miss it if you are anywhere near downtown. The subs are harder to see.
Depending on where your daughter's BF is based...his ID should get you on base if he is in the car with you and stays with you. Then you could get close enough for a WOW moment at the size. The best way to get on board is to know someone who is stationed on the specific ship. Subs and their base are much harder to access.
I highly recommend visiting the USS Midway Museum...it is designed to help you get a feel for what carrier life is like. Last week my son, who recently returned from deployment, visited some friends at the museum and he remarked at how it really did feel familiar.
Send me a friend request and PM me...maybe I can help when you are here.
    Hope this helps.
  • CanukaVet

    GIGI - oops...niece's bf.

  • Chipmunk

Gigi - I hope you are able to visit the USS Midway Museum when you get to SD. If you aren't able to visit there, I would encourage you to visit the USS Yorktown when your son graduates Prototype. Also, there is a small sub ported next to it that while it is not the size, I am sure of any of our active duty ships it is still interesting to visit.

As for the Prototype schedule, as I have commented on before, every different class, T-track, and Prototype were all preparations for my son's transition to his time in the fleet. Their hours and schedules are not likely to change, they will continue to be hard, especially if they are out to sea. Not trying to be a downer, but just trying to be transparent.
