Good Morning!  B&C arrive tomorrow night and the "wedding" is Sunday.  Can't believe it's finally here.  They'll be married 2 years in July and just so happy to finally have the wedding celebration!  Like they said on their last save the date - 3rd time's a charm!

  • NonnaB

B'sNukeMom, I am so excited for your family. Please post a picture or two.

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

Good morning Ladies, anyone that has been following knows my son was removed from the Nuclear program back in October and has been waiting to move on. He has been in DTP but this weekend they gave him a airline ticket to be in Lemoore for school Aviation Electronic Technician. He starts his new classes today. It has been a long wait, 7 1/2 months in fact but he finally has a new direction. I was extremely overwhelmed with the fact he was suppose to go submarine but now knowing aircraft can't land on subs that is off the table.

I will stay on this site if it is alright with the administration just in case another mom should find herself in the same situation and needs help manuevering through what's happening. Prayers to all the Nuclear Sailors, the pipeline is extremely difficult and stressful and I am proud of everyone of them that make it through.

Looking forward to the next adventure in my son's Navy journey. God Bless you all.

  • Pizanche

Northwoodsmom - Congrats on the new adventure for your son.

  • Chipmunk

Northwoodsmom - WooHoo!! I know your son and you have been waiting a long time for this. Yes, please stick around!

  • NancyJo (NNPTC)

    Northwoodsmom, I'm so happy for you and your son! He's on a new path at last and has a great future ahead of him. I'm so glad you want to stick around. Your experience will be so helpful for moms who might be disappointed or worried when their own sailor experiences the same thing. It's all about the right fit and what we have heard here is that it pretty much works out just fine. He's part of the greatest navy in the world. You have a lot to be proud of. {{N4M hugs}}

I just saw this about an alligator in Charleston. https://weather.com/science/nature/video/five-charleston-officers-n...  It reminded  me that there's a named gator on base at GC. My son saw it a few times when he was running there. I can't recall its name, but you can get a cute stuffed one at the NEX.

  • sunflower

Northwoodsmom - I'm so glad to hear that your son finally gets to move on.  Not everyone that volunteers for subs get it, but I'm sure that he's still excited to start this next adventure.

  • JayDee659

Sunflower, that alligator on base is Charlie!

  • Chipmunk

    Hi JayDee659!!

Sunflower - I did not know there was a stuffed version of him.

Thanks for sharing your video, I thought that was interesting how they all fell on top of the alligator to weigh it down, especially the young lady on the bottom!!

  • Northwoodsmom

NancyJo, thank you! Through these past 8 months of uncertainty I have learnt patience and that everyone's situation is uniquely different. Most stay at DTP for 4-6 months and I was getting extremely anxious but I knew he was safe and being taken care of. As any parent it was very difficult to see him struggle but the Navy went beyond, giving him all kinds of support hoping it would click but the Lord had different plans for him and I am beyond proud of the way he has handled this situation. I hope that I can add support for those going through the same thing.

B'sNukeMom - I am sure you are very busy with all that is going on, just letting you know that we hope the wedding was just wonderful. We have had rain for three mornings now, so I am thinking about your sunshine!!

I've been gone so missed some things. Beautiful photos, B'sNuke! So touching after all this time. It looks like the weather was perfect. I also note how B looks older than when we first saw photos of him, just like my son. Time flies. Anyway, I wish them every happiness. <3

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

Thanks NancyJo!  Yes, we are so happy they were actually able to finally have the ceremony!  Their last "save the date" they sent out said "Third time's a charm" lol!  And B is going to be 33 on the 19th!  Hubby and I just booked a vacation to MI - heading out at the end of the month for 9 days - can't wait!

We had a family day for my husband's work, and I proudly wore my RED shirt as I traversed our local attraction.

I just got back from Norfolk and thought that I would share what we saw.  We had just finished touring Fort Monroe and were walking through the tunnel to Outlook Beach when we spotted the Bush going out to sea.

  • CSW

Nice to see! Thanks for sharing.

  • Chipmunk

Such an awesome sight!! How fortunate to get this opportunity to view one of the ships leaving port.

    Snoopy Hugs back to everyone!!

  • WearsLargeHats

B'sNukeMom, what a lovely couple! I'm so envious: I would love to have another DIL and maybe even a couple more grandkids, but my bachelor sons show no signs of obliging, and I can't do a thing about it.

  • Northwoodsmom

WearsLargeHats, don't feel too bad we have a total of 4 and know signs of interest in babies. Age ranging from 43 to 28 and three married. My Sailor Boy is my greatest hope but hasn't found his perfect mate yet.

  • Gigi

BsNuke - what a lovely picture of B & C! After all the rescheduling and waiting it turned out perfectly!

    WearsLargeHats - in God’s perfect time ..

Northwoodsmom- in God’s perfect time and Congratulations to your sailor as he got his new order. I’m happy for you and your son

Sunflower - thank you for sharing the pics. Norfolk will be in my next list to visit because

BECAUSE my son got his soft order in Nolfork!! He is excited/happy about it as he will be working with his best buds. And that what’s important to me is where he will be happy. Not sure if I can tell on here which carrier

  • 4kidsforfun

Sunflower - thanks for those pics - if you could tell us where you were exactly (or close) I really want to be there when my son eventually heads to sea and have no idea what a good vantage point would be there.

Gigi - my son has been in Norfolk since March. His carrier is in dry dock for a while yet but maybe they are on the same ship? I'll message you!

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

Thank you WLH and Gigi!  Yes, we are lucky in that we gained a wonderful DIL.  I hope at some point I'll be able to share that I'll be a grammy......but for now it's just grand doggies for me lol!

And my youngest son got engaged the week before B&C's celebration so there will be another wedding to plan - and another wonderful DIL!

And Gigi - you can say what carrier he is on!

    Happy Thursday all!

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

4kidsforfun - here is a link for Ft. Monroe - has directions, etc.

    Hope this helps!

  • Chipmunk

    B'sNukeMom - Congratulations on your youngest's engagement!!

4kidsforfun - Ft. Monroe is a nice place to walk around and visit as well and many of the families take their kids there to watch the ships coming in and out as Norfolk does not have a webcam like San Diego does.

Gigi - and others - be sure to come join the Norfolk Family & friends group here on N4M - I am trying to keep tabs on it and I encourage anyone that does not have a sailor on the USS Ford to go to that group if you do not have an active ship group on this site. At least we can share general information there or if you have questions about the area or the base, or Newport News and the shipyards, you can ask them there.
