early voter here! and yes Anita I agree no matter who you vote for just vote!
  • Mahler

You're right Anita in Ohio. I felt so fortunate there were clear blue skies above me, today, as I voted. While, in other countries mil. fly overs must be done to ensure folks aren't "disturbed" as they excercise their right to vote. Yes, beautiful clear skies, here! And truly thankful for it. Proud to uphold an American right, I was, today. :)
  • SailorMom94

    Got my vote on.
  • Anita n Ohio

Well, the election did not turn out as I had hoped...but at least all those mud-slinging ads are gone.  Now two more years of politicians acting like spoiled brat children on their teams.   I wish they could completely wipe the whole capital clean of every single person there, get a whole new group and start over.  Term limits need to be put on ALL positions in government, not just the president.

  • Anita n Ohio

Found these last night at my local Lowe's Hardware store.  YEP, you bet - I got my Navy one for my sailor for this year's Christmas tree.

  • Mahler

Anita in Ohio, I absolutely LOVE the ornaments. Collecting special ones is a family tradition of ours. Thanks for sharing!!

I'm making a homemade craft project with my sailors name on it, in big, tall letters, which I may show some of you. My older daughter is into crafting, too. Her craft project reminds me of the rainbow line, aboard ship. I think I'll sign my name to mine, as well. Who knows, I may get recognized for my artwork, hopefully. I'll share my craftiness with you when it's completed.

Anyway, I can't believe it's nearing the holidays, already!
  • Mahler

I have a question. How to best bring a smile to our sailors and air crews faces?

I've suggested a daily theme for my sailor and buddies, a while ago. I thought today could be Thankful Thursday, suggesting they think of something they're rather thankful for. I think I'll light a candle for them in honor of Thankful Thursday!

For a smile to add to their tomorrow, maybe it could be their Friendly Friday-- appreciate a friend.

Sassy Saturday-- they can strut their awesome selves, lol. Sluggy Sunday-- take a moment to exhale and unwind?? Magnificent Monday-- for they are.... Thoughtful Tuesday-- say something kind to a friend. :) Wacky Wednesday-- "get jiggy with it"?? (Have a silly sense of humor).

Any other ideas on how to bring a little sunshine into the mix? Tastey Tuesdays?? Sing-a-song Sundays?? Corny, I know, lol.
  • Mahler

P.S. I voted. As the sticker says, I "made freedom count".
  • SailorMom94

MOG Anita N Ohio I love those. Each year I also add a new ornament for each of my 4 kids.
  • Anita n Ohio

Had to share this.    I know there will be thousands of ladies out there doing this, but God bless Grandpa's too!

Anita N Ohio thanks for making me cry. No one knows the day our Sailor is coming home and it will be a day just let this. Last year I surprised my son's girlfriend when she was taking pictures with Santa, surprised his brother when he pooped out from behind a car he was picking up and surprised his Dad at a meeting in a restaurant. What a day of happy tears and hugs. This year will be the same but with a lot more surprises.
  • lbimom

thank you all for the comments and links that have so much during my sailor's first deployment!

  • JackieD

Anita, that video made me cry (at work)... my co-workers are so used to seeing me in tears these past months, they don't even ask if anything is wrong anymore, lol...

Love the direction the ship is going :)  I can't wait to hop on that plane to VA.

  • Anita n Ohio

Awww, I'm sorry, Jackie.   But they soon will be tears of joy!!

You on a plane - me on a ROAD TRIP!!!!  12 hours :-)

  • KathyWQ

We are leaving Sunday.  Heading to Washington DC for a few days before heading south.  I have been a nervous wreck because we are from the St Louis area and my husband works for a local police department and last week he was told all vacations were cancelled due to the anticipated riots that they expect to break out here.  I was like uuummmmmm noooooo not happening.  Luckily nothing has happened so we (more like he since I was going no matter what) will be there when our guy walks down that plank!

  • Anita n Ohio

HEY DAD OF SAILOR!!!     Be sure to tell your sailor "HELLO" from this group!

  • JackieD

Yes, can't wait for the "happy" tears.  12 hour roadtrip?  I can't do that from California :(  Actually I can, but would probably need like a week to get there, lol...

  • SailorMom94

I didn't see a video umm. I am so jealous and envious for all that will be there. I miss my boy so much. I need to turn his phone back on but don't know when I should I don't want his service to start to soon but don't want to miss his call when he gets back.
  • Dawnette7

Just got a pretty cool, informative email from my sailor! This Oregonian is getting VERY excited to visit the East Coast soon!! Only trouble is that our youngest (a senior) is in the state football playoffs... how can a mom be in two places at once?!?!
  • KWats Momma

Hi dawnette7. I too will be traveling from Oregon. I got a very informative email as well from my sailor, it started with we are so many days weeks months away : ). Reading that, there is a very happy dance in my step today and the Ooo shoot what to wear. Would like to say hello to a fellow Oregonian /uss bush navy mom!!
  • SailorMom94

Oooo Dawnette7 that's a hard one. I know in our town football is a high thing our Sailor has been out of school for 3 seasons now and we still go to the games. I'm sure they will video tape it and I'd pray they win so you can make it to the next game. Plus I'm sure your senior would understand your Sailor hasn't seen a family face in months, good luck to you and enjoy your homecoming.
  • NavyMomDPL

Getting very excited here in Colorado as well. Going to Homecoming , I am so proud of my sailor and yes I am gonna brag. He came into navy as an E3 due to JROTC. He came in june 2012. Since the deployment he has earned Blue Jacket of the Quarter and went to boards for Blue Jacket of the Year.  Waiting for that outcome. He earned his E4 and is now a Petty officer, earned two certs on this deployment and received the Navy Achievement Award as well two weeks ago. We have so much to celebrate  this homecoming.

  • Eddies Mom

I just tried to send an email to my son and it came back undeliverable. I never had that problem until today. All I did was respond to the email he sent today. Anyone else getting the same issue?

  • KWats Momma

I have had the same issue, so have a few others I've heard from.
  • frandnavymom

Getting excited also in Ohio, won' be going to Homecoming though cause  my son will be flying out with his squadron to their home port after they get off the Bush. Very proud of him, he made Avenger of the day and also Blue Jacket of the Quarter and waiting to hear about Blue Jacket of the year also.... congratulations NavyMomDPL on your Sailor's achievements.

  • Eddies Mom

Thanks everyone! I hope the email problem is not for long though. I am excited about going to homecoming. My son made E5 and received the NAM while on deployment. His dad and I are so proud of him!

  • frandnavymom

I had the same issue yesterday, 2 came back undeliverable also....   :(

  • TLC72

Try not replying to the email and send a new one. That one was forwarded from up the chain, so may have something to do with it. I sent one to my son to let him know I had received it and didn't have any problems.

  • JackieD

I've been emailing with my son this morning.  His hasn't been down and he didn't know of it being down.

  • Eddies Mom

Thanks ladies, let me try sending again.

  • Eddies Mom

Sent a new email and it is still not working. Maybe I need to contact an admin on the ship?

  • KWats Momma

I just now got a email from my son, tried to reply and got back a undelivable email. So seems they can send out but not receive.
  • PinkVenom

My husband said he was going to message me after we got off of the phone and that was four days ago... I have not gotten anything since before the pit stop they last had. I sent a message that day we talked on the phone and the day after and the messages went through. I have been waiting and no reply. I tried sending an email today as well and it did not go through. So, I am not even getting messages sent to me either.
  • frandnavymom

Just tried to send a new email, came back saying the following address has permanent fatal errors   :(

  • frandnavymom

Don't forget they are going through several time changes also

  • Eddies Mom

I think my email finally went through to my son! I emailed the Ombudsman earlier to let them know about the problem.

  • TLC72

I have emailed my son twice today, once earlier in the day and once late this afternoon, and he responded to both. I know my husband was emailing back and forth with him this afternoon also with no problems, so the problem must not have been with the whole system.

  • Eddies Mom

That's right Tracy. I think it was just happening to some and not others.

  • Dawnette7

KWats Momma... A big "O" to you! We should try to connect or wave at each other at least! Let's PM to coordinate.
  • Dawnette7

SailorMom94... Oh, football is pretty much everything in our town! I'll probably have to sequester myself to a corner to catch the radio broadcast from home. So very torn, to be sure. Quarterfinal Game, First Homecoming... what an emotional rollercoster it will be for me! Yikes!!
  • Dawnette7

I had trouble most of the day sending a YAY! email, but they've gone through tonight now. Must have been a gremlin...
  • SailorMom94

Also got my email. Congratulations to all of you and the accomplishment your Sailor have made.
  • Mahler

Sailor Mom94, thanks for the congrats. I know I'm "singing to the choir" but I am so proud of my sailor!!! By jan. mil. life is over and college will begin, for 3 straight years.
  • NavyMomDPL

Thanks for the congrats from you and yes we all have reason to be proud momma and wives and dads

  • SailorMom94

I can't tell you all how much you have all ment to me during this deployment I couldn't have gotten through it with out you. Your joy, your stories, your updates your friendship has made my past 9 months. I wish each and everyone of you health, joy, wealth and many years of blessings with your Sailor. Again thank you all for your daily support xoxo. Bravo Zulu
  • Mahler

This is quite a supportive Facebook page! It makes a difference, for sure. Warms my heart and helps fill the kind vof lonliness, or empty nesting that isn't easily found. My hat's off to this page and it's members.

  • Clara Rodriguez

Hi everyone I've been following online but barely understood how to comment! My son is aboard and this is our first deployment. We are unable to make it to see him. Is there a live feed?
  • TLC72

Clara- If they live stream the event, it will be on www.navy.mil. Check there or watch the US Navy facebook page the morning of for the link. If they do, it probably won't be announced until that morning.
