Blondie and everyone else facing winter storm Hercules this week.....Stay safe.

Happy New Year everyone.  Best wishes to you, your sailors and your family.

We hit every topic on here.  I welcome every ones customs and beliefs as long as they are for the greater good and no one else is harmed.  I love this site because I learn so many things.  I am fascinated by others customs.

I am trying a new diet and trying to better my excercise routine.  I was supposed to get up an hour early this morning and excercise.  I hit the snooze button instead.

  • Anti M

Hitting the snooze button is a form of exercise!

We could use a storm here.  We have had day after day of valley inversion, trapping the pollutants in the valley, you can see and taste it.  I was going to take the bus downtown and start up my gym membership gain, but walking to the stop, just a few blocks, makes me begin to gasp.  We don't need Hercules, but maybe a minor hero to sweep out our atmosphere.

  • CatMom509

    Hello All~

"He put a new song in my mouth,

a hymn of praise to our God.

          Many will see and fear

and put their trust in the Lord."

                                     Psalm 40:3

  • CatMom509

Prayers for safety to all who are in the path of this newest storm~~  Also, may any pollution be cleared so we can get done what we need to get done!

    Blondie,

May all who live in areas like yours be ultra careful!!  Glad you are probably already home now!

  • boocoo

Barbara I bet you can't wait till August. How exciting for you!!!

Blondie, saw on the news tonight the north east is getting hammered by a winter storm. Hope you are all home safe and warm!!!!

Kim they say diet and exercise is over rated! Ha, all kidding aside, I could definitely us a better exercise program and diet!!!

All I can say is our weather here continues to be gorgeous. Sunny and mid 60's to low 70's. I have been off from work and out riding and enjoying the weather every day. I am blessed!!!

  • T-Lynn

    HI ?

Why the "?" . I'm  a bit confused here. What did I miss?

Gee - not on here for a few days and things happen. But this time I can't figure out what's up. Why  are we all back to saying how we feel about our sharing our beliefs?. This is the safe place, did I miss something? Guess I'll chime in. I'm the witch :). But promise, I gave up the broom flying .

Right on Barb, about the sailor's move. BUT still can't share. I love my sailor and he is standing up to his "hard lesson". Promise I'll blab as soon as I can.

Oh - Happy New Year all :).

Congrats on getting deals for the wedding dress. I hope she keeps sharing she is in the military and get those discounts.

Only 10 hours is still long enough for us to get there and visit with your Larry. It would be such an honor to meet him.  I hope it happens and the time is perfect so my hubby and I can have that chance.

Cold here too.  The weather was strange today. You know how you look outside and it just has the look that says: " go back to bed". That was how it was today.

Maybe that is why Kim and Anti M hit the snooze button. ( Hey - me too )

Have to share my fun night on New Years. It was fun :). My dil dressed me up. For some reason she says I dress old and I am not that old - well, that is what she says. She put me in a Victoria Secret push up bra , with matching blouse. the reason I found out one wears a matching blouse - those darn neck line will slip off the shoulder! And you bet , what I have - got pushed up. My hubby even whistled! Maybe I need to get those bras for myself?

Anyway - it was me - hubby-  son and dil and another adopted son - Chris. We were given hots, horns, champaign and classes. Bingo cards and all you can eat buffet. Also, four games of bowling.  Then you could purchase chances to win a $100 if you bowl a strike. Yes, I just had to purchase 20 tickets.

We had another 3 couples that were next to us and we all ended up  having fun together.  One lady - in group next to us - won a door prize. ( $25 gift card and goblet.)  Bu what I so enjoyed the most - the chances to win $100!!!!

Guess who's ticket was called first? Go ahead and guess!!!! Ok - it was me and I left 4 pins standing.  So the next time a ticket was called - that strike was worth $200. That next person won the $200. Then the third strike was worth $100 again and that person missed - so the fourth ticket was worth $200. Guess who's had the fourth ticker???????

    Any guesses???

    Ok - me !!!!!

And I nailed it!!!!!!! I got the best strike ever and won that $200 ! I still will gt those two 100 bills out to look at them. So I can honestly say, my first time OUT celebrating the New Year was awesome.

Need to sleep- Wish all sweet dreams.  hugs

  • T-Lynn

I so need to proof read - Hats not hots!

  • T-Lynn

  • Anti M

T, congrats on the win!  Your new year was much more exciting than mine.  Sound slike so much fun.

Ha, I bet you have a broom tucked away!

Larry is home overnight, and part of the day.  We have chores and errands to fit in, he probably won't be back home until right before we go on vacation.  Poor guy, always running.

  • barbara10/08

Ugh, hit the wrong button and lost the post.

Cold and snowy here too.  High of 5 today.  -15 wind chills.  Most schools closed.
My sister lives in Providence R.I.  They have the storm too.  Today is her birthday so she gets a paid day off-nice!

Kim, your post about the snooze button made me smile.  I like the winter, but it def is easier to get up and exercise when it is warm and sunny.

Anti-M- he'll take anything stateside at this point.  Supposed to be getting shore duty, but you know how that goes.  He's got 3 more years and then he says he's out, but by then he'll have 10 years!  He's changed his mind before, so we'll see.  As you said, the medical benefits would be worth sticking it out, and not too many companies are giving out pensions anymore.
    Hope your weather improves.

T-Lynn,  haha, was going to tease you about them passing out the hots-you would have been prepared!  And even hubby noticed!  Ooh lala.  I'll bet you looked gorgeous-any pics:))    Sounds like a great time and congrats on bringing in the new year with $200!   nice.

Boocoo, someone on this site (thank you) mentioned an online tracking tool called myfitnesspal.   Now, I don't usually like doing this, but this site was different and really helpful for me.  Between that and eating smaller, more frequent meals I lost 18 lbs. in 2013!!!   After years of trying unsuccessfully to lose weight, that is huge for me.
Gotta keep at it though-I gain weight with little to no effort, lol.

Blondie, I like your system.  Is the level 2 for cold or snow or both?
ha ha, I can see my hubby doing the same thing.

  • MaggieMay

Hello ladies!  I've been so busy since Christmas...non stop on the go....two family gatherings after Christmas (I'm blessed with a wonderful family so had a blast)...our High School hosts a huge basketball tournament every year that runs from 12/26 thru New Years Eve so guess who's been working concession stand...me!  Throw in my son's wrestling tournament too...yep busy, busy, busy.  I've been reading all your posts.....love the scriptures (keep 'em coming CatMom!)...enjoy all the wedding news.....prayers for healing (Kim, good luck with that foot)...,Happy Belated Birthday Maggs!.....AnitM hope you and Larry get to spend more time together in 2014....Shelly put that jerk in the past you're a great person....Blondie you and your family stay safe and warm and that goes for everyone else affected by this winter storm....oh TLynn what a fun New Years Eve I bet your hubby wouldn't mind you spending some of that money at Victoria Secret - you're One Hot Momma!...BADma good luck with the baby shower, relax everything will be fine, how's the momma -to-be doing?  I know there's more I should comment on but I'm going brain dead...just know I do read all your posts....enjoy the pics so much!

You ladies are all so wonderful and this is such a supportive group which brings me to a little issue I have.  N4M's is the only Navy social group I participate in but a few months ago I decided to join a Navy group on Facebook....hey I figured you can't get enough of Navy Mom support!  This FB group is a closed group and so I had to be accepted into it.  I requested to join over two months ago and I filled out the forms and everything I was told to do right away and then I never heard back from them so I had pretty much assumed I was forgotten or they just didn't want me in their group..  Well this morning I get an email apologizing for the delay and telling me they're happy I applied but now I have to fill out more forms and I must reply within 2 days!   I'm questioning their integrity.  I mean it took them over 2 months to get back to me and now they are only giving me 2 days.  Am I over-reacting?

Gotta go...that winter storm is heading my way too.  Snow expected over the weekend and frigid temps...our high on Monday is only suppose to be in the single digits...brrrrrrrrr

{{{{{HUGS}}}}} to you all and thanks for always being here!

  • Anti M

And Larry is off and away... we had to buy a new battery for the car and the commissary was very busy.  I did snag some after holiday deals, and am set with basic groceries for a few weeks.  We did have a nice lunch together, and I was able to get some cute underthings at Lane Bryant on clearance.

Barbara, that ten years is a huge tipping point.  I got out at nine.  The retired pay is a nice cushion, the healthcare is golden, and there's other benefits too.  Maybe a few years of shore duty will change his mind.

Gee, joshmom, I'd not want to join a group who made me jump through hoops.  Sounds annoying.

LOL, Blondie.... yeah, it ain't easy for sure.

  • boocoo

Thanks Barbara. I will check out myfitnesspal.

We finally got to Skype with our Sailor last night. It was nice "seeing" him and getting to visit for a while. He is doing really well and likes Japan so far.

  • Anti M

Oh Maggs, I hope you get over that fast!  No fun.

My cats have learned not to sleep on my face and head, and rarely ask to get under the covers.  One does like to sleep on the back of my legs and uses my bum as a pillow.  They get upset when Larry is home, they sleep on his side of the bed when he;s on  the road.   I put a folded throw at the foot, they like to use it as a little bed.  They can't claw the mattress, I have a good undercover for it, and a bedskirt.

  • CatMom509

Oh yikes on Angel scratching you while she gets acclimated to her new territory!

Our master bedroom is offlimits to our 4 cats.  My husband did not want cat fur on our blankets and one of our cats likes to go behind our bed and hide between the drawers under the base.  We have a custom platform bed with drawers on both sides--no dustbunnies under the bed!!  So they go and crowd my daughters around their legs...or each has claimed a part of our sectional sofa now~~

  • CatMom509

    What a nice pic, Blondie!

  • T-Lynn

Laughing Maggs . NOT that you are sick, but your humor is amazing and funny. I was so worried as I started to read your message but then burst out in laughter and then ran to the bathroom - IN TIME NOT to pee my pants.

So how are your new abs? We all know now how your new mattress is doing  - made perfect for Angel.  By the time I read only a few lines, I could SEE this happening. MAGGS - write a coffee table book about Angel's  antics !!!! Then make it into a calendar - OMG what a delight to have, not to mention with all the profits you can pay for all of us to get together :). See, I'm thinking ahead.

    thanks Blondie:

    1. Explaining the Levels. I was going to ask that too.

    2. For LISTENING to your boss and NOT shoveling !!!!!! Ah - there is hope :).

    3. Pics are beautiful and yes, nice of your friend to invite you over. Can't get together , but memories you two have being out there and chatting - beautiful.

    4. And yes, "MEN !!!!! - and how they think."  Got one too.

Joshmom - comment about other Navy moms ; no, I was taught if you don't have anything nice to say - stay quiet.  So nothing nice now.   Sounded like fun at the games. How did your son's tournament go?

Hey - isn't today the baby shower for BADma? Waiting to hear details of all the fun and what gifts were.

Talking about pic of me - have to go on fb and I'll check out my son's and  dil's sites. Maybe they posted some pics from New Year's. Was having a time with mine - the flash did not work and then I just forgot.  By the way - I have not gone and purchased any VS bras. I want to take dil to help me out and she is sick again. She just keeps catching what the kids she takes care off have.  she too is coughing up a lung and she was told she only has a virus. Doesn't sound like it to me.

Anti M - so are you packing for your trip? Is  the trip on your birthday this time? And you have not shared where yet? Begging for gossip here. And have to mention - I was on here - typing a message and suddenly a message from you popped in.  It came in between CatMom and Maggs. Has this happened to anyone else?  And naturally - I have a back up broom :).

booo - how wonderful for you to Skype !!!! That does make the time better and to SEE that he is doing fine in Japan. Glad your  heart is happy

hey has anyone heard from Jeffiner - Miss - Ang - and VAL of late ?

Check in ladies Oh- Aleicia too.

Barb - you lost 18 pounds ! Congrats to you.

And can't remember what else I wanted to say - sorry

Hoping all are staying safe and comfortable. here  we are in warnings now. Now our temp is 10 degrees and dropping to -21 tonight. An Canadian Clipper is moving through. I can say  - all my family is inside and staying in too. WE were able to get all foods, medicine, etc for humans and pets. So today we will being making soup - beer bread - pumpkin pie and fun snacks. Watching movies, doing some crafts and calling sailor so he can tease us about his great warm weather in CA. ( Still no gossip sharing about him - but soon )

Suppose to start back tomorrow with Cub Scouts. BUT tomorrow is suppose to be -14  to -16 as a high! And back down to -20 at night. Still waiting to hear IF our schools will be open. I find this hard to understand. Area schools are closing ( guess their school leaders can READ what temps it will be) and no word about ours. I cannot see a parent placing their kid on a curb at 6 AM - temp being in the negative and WAITING for the school bus! Let you know how it goes.

Need to get off here - laundry fairy still visiting. Plus, now that hubby is back in from snow blowing. He wants to iron. Hey - alright by me :)

    Hugs all

  • T-Lynn

Hey - had to check in again. Schools system is closing all schools here !!!

    So good to hear this.

and honest, I was going to call in and NOT go to scouts tomorrow. I just can't think of asking parents to let their kids stay for a 45 minute meeting and temps dropping.

    Hugs all

  • bsb

Our governor ordered all public schools closed for Monday. One more day of vacation for all the kiddos! Shortly after he announced that on Friday, we got an email at work--"we will be open, business as usual." I work at a hospital/clinic so I guess that makes sense.

  • horsegalnurse14

Hi! I'm brand new here. My son is OS and shipping out for Japan in the next two months. This is all so new to me, so I'm glad to be connected with this group. Lori

  • BADma

GAH....yesterday  posted about the baby shower, I thought. It disappeared!! We had fun, only half the women showed up. That was okay BUT some that didn't  show up RSVP~ed that they WOULD be there.People are rude. Babygirl got LOTS of diapers, always a good gift. One of her co workers cross stitched  a wall hanging with a verse and the baby's name on it. My daughter has to give it back after baby comes so the co worker can add the birth date, weight and length.

My heart goes out to those in COLD country...stay safe, stay warm.

My 2 cats sleep near me. one at my shoulder, the other near my feet (if she isn't on my wheelchair). The Hubmeister's cat sleeps at his feet.

Welcome horsegalnurse 14..... my son is an MM2.He is on the GW and has been since May 2011. his time in Japan is winding down. I can't wait!!! He has never taken leave.  You will love this group of ladies.....fun and helpful!

  • colette(14/198)

Its official, my son got his hard orders and will be leaving for Japan in 5 weeks.. :-(

  • boocoo

T-Lynn, you amaze me that you can keep up with all that!! :) Yes my heart is happy knowing my sailor is doing well!!!

Welcome horsegalnurse14!!! This is a great place to hang out. Congrats to your sailor!!!

Badma, people are rude. They rsvp and then don't show? Wow! Guess they don't know how rsvp works? Glad you had a nice shower for her anyway and you can never have enough diapers! LOL!

Our cat sleeps in the sink. Sometimes on the floor by the door. She doesn't come in the bed till the alarm goes off in the a.m.

Speaking of alarms, yuck, tomorrow is back to work after two weeks off.

Colette, congrats to your Sailor! He will love Japan!

  • BADma

Collette.... WELCOME aboard!! My son loves Japan. The ladies on this page are so helpful and fun. We all laugh, bitch, cry and cheer together and for each other. We are truly sisters here.

  • Kim

    Welcome new moms.

TLynn, congrats on your new years.

Blondie, drive safe and stay warm everyone.  We get it tomorrow.

Maggs, Angel is so funny.  I hope you are feeling better.   I always brag about my sailors cat.  She is all cuddly and perfectly behaved.  Christmas dinner we were all sitting around the table and chatting after dinner.  I guess we were too long, because out of no where the cat is on the table and licking the butter.  That is the first time I saw her do anything naughty.  Sailor got her down and let her sit on half of his chair were just her face peered over the table.  She was happy.

  • MaggieMay

Me & hubby both got a snow day today - YEAH!!!  Unfortunately it's too cold to go outside to play so I'm working on my new years resolution - cleaning out closets!  Getting rid of lots of junk...why I keep so much stuff is beyond me.  I gave hubby some chores but obviously he wasn't in the mood to clean.  He just informed me that the temperature had reached 1 degree so he was headed outside!

Welcome to the new moms - hope your sailors like Japan as much as most of them do.

Blondie - hope you're home safe and warm!

My sailor called the other day and he was going snowboarding and very excited about it.  He loves to snow ski but this is his first try at snowboarding.  I'm so glad they have snow in Japan!  He did admit that he is getting homesick.  Says he's been fine all year but now that he's coming home he's really missing us....just a little over 3 weeks now!

Youngen had another wrestling tournament on Saturday and got 1st place  He had his game on and pinned all his opponents in less than 1 minute.  He really needed the boost because in the previous tourney he didn't even place.  I told him he finally found his inner grrrrr!

Have a great day everyone and for those of you dealing with this arctic blast stay safe and warm!

  • Anti M

Beautiful sunny day here, I had to go to the dentist. Not too cold, although some of the houses between the bus stop and the dentist apparently don't own snow shovels.  Ice on the sidewalks, several inches deep and slick as could be.  Grrr.

LOL on cats... my cats will not get on the table or counter, but the cats I inherited from Dad sure will.  I forgot a stick of butter I was softening in a bowl, found about a fourth of it gone the next day!  I have to put it in the cupboard now.  I should try the cookie sheet and pennies in a can training trick, you balance the cookie sheet on the edge of the counter, when they jump up, they knock it down and the pennies make a racket!  Dad spoiled his cats after Mom passed, he'd feed them right off his plate during a meal, with them in his lap.  Nope nope nope.

Oooh, snowboarding in Japan!  They have amazing ski resorts, although not close to the bases.  Usually you have to take an MWR weekend trip.  I live in Utah,20 minutes from an Olympic venue ski resort,  but I've only been skiing in Japan.

  • boilermom

Anti M: Yes, they were very fortunate to have it approved.  They are both the same rank and same rate so I don't know if that makes a difference.  He does a slightly different job than she does.  They don't explain anything to me since they are both CTR's and I can't know.  Whenever he does get transferred he will most likely have to extend his time by a year or two and may be on a ship. The CTR's don't stay on a ship the whole 8 months though.  You probably know more about this than I do.

  • boilermom

    CatMom 509:

It did not take long to get the transfer approved but my son and his wife both have the same rank and rate.  He will not be moved until there is an opening or something like that.  The Navy continues to be a mystery to me.  Yes, he needed a certified marriage license but that only took about two weeks.  It came in the mail to my daughter-in-law and then he had to turn it in to his superior.  They seem to be content skyping for an hour every day.  If he gets transferred and is on a ship their communication won't be as consistent. Their terms are both up in July 2015  so the worst case scenerio is that they will be together then.  She went to see him over Christmas for 10 days.  It was fun to see their pictures at Disneyland in Tokyo and at his base.  They both knew what it would be like for them being apart. Of course our prayer is that they can be together as soon as possible. Marriage is hard enough without being thousands of miles apart.  Thank you for the congratulations!  We were able to have quite a few family members there! Hawaii is breathtaking!  I hope that your daughter and son-in-law will be able to be together.  Meanwhile they both need to surround themselves with people who will uplift them and support their marriage. Blessing to you!

  • CatMom509

Oh my, all of you in the freezing weather~~be careful!!  Relish those snow days for yourselves and your younger children!!  Count all the animals if somebody wants to go outside to use the potty!

Myself, it was 80's today, so definitely not complaining!!  Happy to be wearing shorts and flip flops!!  ;)

    Welcome, horsegalnurse14!

  • CatMom509

    barbara10/08,

Such sweet pics from Christmas!!  Why does it seem so long ago when it has not even been 2 weeks???

  • CatMom509

    boilermom,

Thanks for the timeframe of what happened with your son and daughter-in-law.  I will copy it and send it to my daughter.  So, basically someone has to finish their duty assignment in Hawaii or want to trade with someone in Japan with the same rating before your son can go over to Hawaii?  Praying for that!

Both my daughter and son-in-law are ITs, but he is in the Marines, so there may be some leeway there.  Personally, I don't mind if she goes to Japan because that is one of the reasons why she joined the Navy--to see the world!  We know that God is in control, so I am awaiting the revealing of His plan~~

  • Anti M

boilermom, I don't know much about CTs, no one does but them.  However, I do know that the Navy won't move one of them unless there is a billet for them to fill.  An opening, just as you say.  Also, they are not supposed to serve at the same command (but who knows with CTs?).  They can't work together, but can be on the same base.  Being the same rate and paygrade doesn't hurt them much as junior sailors.  When they advance it will bite them in the rump.  There are fewer billets as you get promoted.  Look at any chain of command, there is a chief, a couple first classes, a handful of seconds, and then a bunch of thirds and lower.  They'll be okay until they both make first class.  Then it gets tricky to find billets in the same geographic area.  They'll end up on the bigger bases.

There's a reason my husband served 20 years, and I got out at nine years.  We were both ET1, did the exact same job (overlapping NECs).  We got together for a year after being apart for two years, but then it was time for me to transfer again.  I declined re-enlisting because we could not get our PRDs (projected rotation date) to line up.

catmom, your kids will face much the same thing.  Yes, they can apply for a duty station swap, but that is no sure thing.  Not every base has both services, at least, not full components.  Are they both looking to do this as a career?

  • MaggieMay

Barbara -  love the pics.....they are so cute!!!!

I love winter so I'm not complaining about this snow or cold but it sure would be nice to visit CatMom right about now - 80's wow!

  • pammyjs39

I just have a question my son just arrived in yokasuka and is getting a divorce his wife did not go. He is staying on the ship and is getting depressed is it true he can't get housing or barracks should I say because of going through his divorce? Please help I cannot stand him feeling this way!
  • CatMom509

    Anti M,

I think Daina is looking at 10 years?  Not sure about her husband.  Glad for your input too!

  • CatMom509

    joshmom,

Southern California rules!!  (At least when a good portion of the nation is frozen!) Praying for warm snuggles for you all~~

  • CatMom509

    pammyjs39,

I am so sorry to hear of your Sailor divorcing.  Hope you can contact him and encourage him.  Poor baby!!

From my understanding, if he is assigned to a ship, he has to stay there and sleep on it when it is in port.  When he gets assigned shore duty, then he will be assigned to be in a barracks.  I don't know anything about their status whether they are married or not.

  • CatMom509

    Friends!

         "A word aptly spoken

          is like apples of gold

          in settings of silver."

                 Proverbs 25:11

  • BADma

pammyjs39....  How recently did your son arrive? I think they all live on the ship at first. He may be able to get barracks at a later date . Hopefully one of our members, AntiM, will log on and be able to fully answer your question.

  • Anti M

catmom, ten years is a good goal, however, if one of them can make it to 20 years, being retired military and starting a second career is a very good thing.

pammyjs ... single or unaccompanied sailors assigned to ships live on the ship, or if the ship has been given barracks rooms or barge rooms, they may be assigned to those.  There can be a waiting list for the on shore rooms, so he may not be eligible just yet.  Because she did not go to Japan, he is unaccompanied, so he will not get base housing. Nor will he be allowed to rent an apartment until he is an E-5.  It must be difficult for him to go "backwards" from living with a spouse to being the new guy with fewer privileges.  Also, liberty privileges in Japan can have very strict rules, he is in a very new place learning new customs, and winter there is just depressing.  It won't stay that way, be encouraging.  He's not only going through a divorce, but culture shock too.  Sorry he is having trouble, if he can stay busy and explore the base as much as possible, go to the gyms or join a martial arts class, pick u a hobby, anything, it will help a lot.  My Japanese friends from when I was stationed there teach Akido on base!  Maybe that would interest him.

  • Kim

My son was able to move into an off base apartment as an E4.  Not at first and he had a ton of paperwork and needed approvals.  However, he did not receive BAH to cover the cost until he was an E5.  That happened a couple of months later.

  • Shelly

Hi all! Barbara, such adorable pictures. A pair of cuties there. pammysjs39-sorry to hear about your sailors troubled. Keep in touch as best you can. He will reach out when he is ready. Just be available and positive. Hope all in the bitter cold stay safe and warm. I for one am very happy I live in AZ. I just can't do the cold. We lived in Denver when my sailor was born. I was so happy to get out. Cold is just not my thing.
So I will have some happy news in a couple of weeks but I can't share just yet. Let's just say it involves my sailor and a hug from me! I will update with details later.
AntiM-thank you for being here to help those of us through the ins and outs of the Navy. I am grateful to have you here.
  • cbc mom

Shelly -- looks like you and I will have the same news to share.

  • Shelly

cbc-really?  Oh so wonderful. We are so excited!  Hope its the same news!!!!

  • cbc mom

Shelly -- I'm going on a hunch since they both are in the same squadron.  Either way sounds like we both have exciting news!

  • T-Lynn

    HI

Ok - Shelly and cbc mom - my ears are ringing . What's teh news? Next time say: Tease Alert - then we all be ready that we have to WAIT to hear the news.

Hi New Moms - welcome aboard :).  My only question - did your sailors bring along their long johns? When my son was there - that was an emergency call home to send those long johns.

Oh - Barb - the pics are precious !!!!! Glad Santa brought him  a train.  Does he have an Engineer's hat? And the baby ( sorry forgot his name) hat smiles  just melts ones heart.

So Angel is not helping to take down the tree? I thought she would be right in there helping.  And how are you doing - feeling better?

Blondie -  check in. Worried about you with the weather alert being level 3.

Kim - what's new? Any trips planned? Really - cats like butter?

Anti M - my dil feed the puppy off her plate. SO I am learning how not to give in to the little thing. I have to tell teh kids about the the trick with the pennies and cookie tray. I like it.

Oh dear, I can't remember any more. I do so need to take notes.

Here , I have been off two days because of the cold. Windchill on Monday reached -50 and today - 30. Schools are suppose to be open tomorrow, but I learned that the schools will not open if temp ( wind chill) is -20. Makes me wonder if there will be school tomorrow.

Need to get some sleep.  Wish all sweet dreams  hugs

Blondie, BRRRR!  We're lucky, a balmy 30 degrees here in the daytime.

Shelly, thanks.  Hmmm, news?  Same squadron?  If so, one will be transferred once the deed I think is being considered is done.  Can't be in the same command.

Kim, had be been selected for E-5 when he got his apartment?  E-4 over four years are also qualified.  Yokosuka can be strict, but some commands are more lenient than others about applying the regs.  Even under E-4 can get a place offbase if the barracks fill up, and they are on the waiting list for OHA.

Blondie, Brrrr!  Have a great time with your crew.

AntiM, he moved to the apartment a couple of months before he was selected.  He had been an E4 for over a year.  They were positive that he was advancing, but I remember he had to get a lot of signatures and jump threw a lot of hoops.  He was moving in with his girlfriend, so she already had a lease.  LOVE.  They are married now.  I remember that some E4's were able to move to barracks in Sasebo.  Some moms talking about it on the N4M site for his ship.  I don't remember how they qualified for it.

Speaking of my sailors wife.  She is leaving this weekend for Japan.  She will be staying in Sasebo for a month, visiting her family.

I can't wait to hear all the news.  Jump in new moms.  Tell us all about you and your sailors.  There is a wealth on information on this site, but we get chatty.  All are welcome.
