Anti M - you have been there for me and I am here for you and sending many many prayers your way!
O Jesus Christ, Messiah and Lord, grant Anti M a joyful acceptance of the surgery which awaits you, and let this be the relief and cure which You seek. Make skilled the work of the surgeon and that of his team for it is unto their knowledge and skill that gives you the healing. I pray You, O Lord, that this procedure will be without complication, and that your recovery will be speedy and complete.

  • Jesusintheboat

Hi everyone my son is going to be going on a ship from shore duty and I know absolutely nothing about mailing stuff to what he may need to communication     zero

any input I would appreciate very much   thank you

  • Kim

AntiM, Prayers for a quick recovery.  Still prayers for Maggs and all others who need them.

Welcome new moms.  Glad to hear that sailors have arrived and they are getting communication resolved.

Jesusintheboat, your sailor will give you a mailing address.  It will be an FPO box.  You will pay U.S. postage and the large flat rate box is discounted for APO/FPO boxes.  The post office delivers it to San Diego and the navy transports it to your sailors ship.  Mail usually arrives with supplies when they are underway.

  • Jesusintheboat

Thank you Kim and LisaG I appreciate the information

  • Jesusintheboat

Good morning Anti M thinking about you and hope all is well with you and a still prayers for a quick recovery

    OMG Maggs

  • Anti M

Oh Maggs, the thing love does to us!  Newton needs to run off with the dang bike.  I have a t-shirt which says, "Gravity is the most dangerous SOB in the universe".  I hope your foot heals quickly.  I hate those freaking boots.

I am home, feel very whoozy. While I do feel better, I also feel crappy.  Getting there.  Hubby just went out for groceries.

  • Jesusintheboat

Glad to hear  you are home Anti M  and feeling somewhat better

  • scully_the_skeptic

Oh, maggs, that looks awful. And I'm sure the guys feel worse :(
  • T-Lynn

    HI

Glad to  hear you are home Anti M.  Now I hope you are resting.

Kim - how you doing? So good to see you post. How perfect of an award to give Maggs. So your toes are all ok? What is grandson up too? How many teeth does he have? Is he sleeping through the night? And if so, share the secret!

Om Maggs - now it not true I like your stories - I LOVE your stories. Just had to get that out there. And Ladies - she has had great one!  Usually she gives a pee alert though! Hey , I got caught off guard. I was laughing so hard, my hubby came over to see what was so funny. I just told him you were story telling again. He said - oh, Navy moms. And yes, i had to run to the bathroom before finishing. haha Maggs I have to agree with Blondie - so perfect an award. And you so earned ti too.  But you forgot part of the healing now - you need to paint your toe nails - or is that just for broken toes - bonded up with black electrical tape?  And sailors with their bikes are all the same - check the bike first before mom! My sailor has one and he babys it. But honestly - I am sorry you hurt so and hope healing is going well. Reiki coming.

Blondie - I was hoping you would have a restful time with Blondie Jr and all. Well, at lest you had fun. If we all ever get together , I am going to have four sexy guys carrying you around in a sedan chair. ( Maggs - will get one for you too, but the guys will be in kilts )

Well, need to get - it is late. Today was oldest birthday - he turned 36. He only asked for a homemade strawberry cake.  I had to make it and eat at least two pieces.

    Wish all sweet dreams  hugs

Oh glad you have an address/ po box for sailor and was able to send a package.  :).

  • Anti M

Adding prayers Anti M and keeping you in my thoughts.

  • Anti M

Thank you everyone.  I had an infection, so they cleaned it out and put in a wound vac ... basically a vacuum sealed bandage.  I get to carry around a little "purse" with a vacuum pump attached into my side, and have a visit from a home nurse every three days.  One day and I am already tired of my little constant companion.  Should be about a month.

We had a bad windstorm while I was in the hospital, wow.  Winds up to 90 mph. Lots of power outages, and hundreds of down trees.  I lost my pretty little garden arch to a falling branch.  Our neighbors to the back and west had their trampoline fly over the house and onto a car.  But our neighbors directly to the north had their trampoline blow over the fence ... into the yard of the neighbors whose trampoline went flying.  LOL.  Our south neighbors lost their shed and the entire power meter off the side of the house!!  East neighbor got a crunched car trunk.  But our beautiful new roof and gutters held up perfectly.  We got very lucky.

  • Chris, Forever Ray's Proud Mom

Anti M, sorry to hear about the "purse", hope all is smooth sailing from here

  • Anti M

Thank you Blondie, I am adjusting.  But it really sucks (LOL, get it?  hehe)

These winds come from the east, down the face of the mountains, known as downslope winds (canyon winds in local talk) and pack a punch.  This time was a doozy.   There is a house on the north end of the block, their cute little tree in front blew over, a big tree in back crunched the roof, and the tree in back next door took down the garage roof.  They had just sold the house three days before.  Wow.  Here's your new home, huh?

I am glad you are catching up!  Sorry about your BIL, best wishes to him.   I am so familiar with bowel problems now ... although through all this, I go like clockwork.  My gut just wants to stick to other organs and wander around where it doesn't belong.

  • Anti M

Maggs, so good to hear about the remission.  Sending all the healing love I can.

Blondie, sending visions of happy pooping.  Never take poop for granted!

  • Jesusintheboat

    Happy Mother's Day everyone.

I have a question -my son is going underway today is there ways to find out where his ship is or no??

  • 2tymeNavyMom

    Jesusintheboat,
Usually 24 hours before they pull into port they are allowed to release that information. Otherwise no.
  • Kim

You can follow navy times.  The ship will probably be in the news about the past locations.  Sometimes the current port stops.  The 7th fleet usually post a lot of pictures on there.   Read the OPSEC rules.  It is for their protection that we cannot read where the ship is going.

Maggs, AntiM, and everyone else, you continue to be in my prayers.  Great news Maggs.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!  I received flowers from my two away sons and the other is visiting today.  My sailor received orders....USS Roosevelt in San Diego.

  • Anti M

Jesus in the boat, have your sailor sign you up to get official info from the ombudsman. You can also Google the ship's page, and the ombudsman info should be listed. Still will need to verify who you are with your sailor.
  • MAMA_C

Jesus in the boat if you sign up with the ship newsletter they report every port of call after they complete their tour. It is quite fascinating! My son ship is with the 7th Fleet.
  • MAMA_C

    Happy Mother's Day every one!
  • tnmom50

how do you sign up for the jesus in the boat i have a son whom will deploy soon

    HI

Wishing all a wonderful Mother's Day and Great Aunt Day too.

Maggs - doing the happy dance!!! Remission !!!! Amazing and my fingers are crossed for a LLLLOOOONNNNGGGG Remission! Will look for a money spell. I will send it along. But until - positive vibes coming his way. Well, you forgot to mention - how is Angel?

AntiM - sending positive thoughts. And I honestly hope this is the last bump in the road for you. thankfully, your home was safe from those down slope winds. they sound as mean as our straight winds.

Blondie - I use to think your computer just had a visiting Gremlin. But I think it moved in. Try placing a quarter under the computer. Never take it back. The Gremlin might take it and leave the computer alone. Gee- what a day to little Conor. But what a sweetie he is - glad it worked out. do hope all works out for your BIL.

Hi KIm :) glad to see you on. I had to laugh - Your son will station in San Diego. My sailor just mentioned he might be going to back to Japan. Wow - how the Navy works.

Hi to new moms - do know how you feel about keeping in contact with your sailor when they go out to sea and visit different ports. But what information was just shared - please follow. It is for their safety.  And sometimes you have to just wait - wait - and wait for them to contact you. Then you come here for hugs.

Have to share, my hubby and I have done something we have never done before. We found that we had some extra funds - for once. So we thought about paying off a bill. Well, we didn't. Instead we just purchased two tickets to fly to San Diego to see our sailor!!! He has asked and asked for us to come to him fora visit - ever since he was stationed stateside. We never could - but this time - we put him first. He is so happy, he is like a little kid - trying to plan our visit. for the first time in 5 years - he will get to celebrate with his dad on his dad's birthday and our 39th anniversary. When plans are finally - I will let you all know.

Hey  go to get. Hope all had a wonderful day. Sweet dreams all hugs

  • DREW7062

Good afternoon everyone, yes!!!! I survived this more one day at a time
For His anger endure but a moment, and in His favor is life; weeping may endure for a night, but joy comets in the morning. One of my favorite verses in the bible psalms 30.5
Glad to know everyone is well yooohoooo as you know my daughter would have been 27 on May 5 died at 21 but I'm keeping it moving got to, went to the Cematary on her birthday and there was no headstone!!!! I walked around thinking I'm at the wrong grave site, no I wasn't losing it I was at the right spot. They said they accidentally moved it!!!!! You cannot imagine how I felt. I called everyone all the way to the attorney generals office. In an hour it was back down, but I'm still mad... Sorry folks for venting how can you accidentally move a headstone??? But anyway got a question my son applied for a chit to come home for 30 days he said it had to be signed by a few people does anyone know how long that usually takes? He is in Yokosuka working at the naval hospital. Thanks
    Drew

    Have a question
got a question my son applied for a chit to come home for 30 days he said it had to be signed by a few people does anyone know how long that usually takes? He is in Yokosuka working at the naval hospital. Thanks
    Drew
  • Anti M

Drew, a leave request chit usually takes a couple weeks to get approved.  They have to look at who will fill in for him, if anyone else is already on leave, who is transferring in or out.  It should never take more than a month.  He can keep after his chain, make sure it doesn't get set aside on a desk.

  • Anti M

I saw my doc today, he says I look good.  Home nurse says the wound interior is getting smaller.  I'm still exhausted though.

    Blondie, here;s to survival!

  • Jesusintheboat

Great news Maggs and Anti M  Oh Blondie I hope you get things taken care of at work and    Drew I hope all gets signed and taken care real soon.

  • Chris, Forever Ray's Proud Mom

I don't know if it is different overseas, but when my family member passed, I called the Red Cross. Some of the info they needed: Sailor name and rate, his ship, his CO's name, the name of the deceased, the relationship, the hospital/hospice or funeral home attending to the death/funeral address and phone number to verify the information.

I cannot remember any more, but I do remember that the person who contacted me was extremely helpful, quick to react and did a fantastic job with a followup after everything was over to see if we were ok and needed anything else!! I was so impressed. Prayers for your family.

  • 2tymeNavyMom

    glair1

You might want to also contact the Ombudsman for the ship.  You may be able to find out who this is (if you already don't know) through the ship's facebook page.

  • Anti M

The Red  Cross is the official way to send a notification, and they will make sure he gets the news in a gentle way (usually).  A grand parent's illness does not mean he gets to take emergency leave, but it will be good for him to know right away.  Much love to your family.

  • tytulip40

Has everybody spoken to their sailors this morning?  A 5.6 magnitude earthquake hit just outside Tokyo.  Mine called, he was so scared but ok.  Send lots of prayers.

  • tytulip40

PS - I didn't mean to scare anyone - momma bear is a little shaken up right now - want to get on a plane and bring my boy back home, lol - I know I can't do that, hence why I am here venting!  Everything is fine - everything is fine - everything is fine!

  • Anti M

Hang in there.  A 5.6 is a good shaker, but not too bad.  The buildings on base are really well constructed to ride out tremblors, and the ships just ride them up and down. Earthquakes are scary, but he will get used to them.  I know that sounds awful, but it is true.  I was a Californian, and I thought I was okay with earthquakes, but Japan taught me a whole new level of awareness and respect.  I was there a total of 12 years, and only remember a couple larger ones which made me go outdoors (on base), or shelter in a doorway (offbase in my funky little house).

Your sailors will be having renewed earthquake safety drills now.

  • tytulip40

We are used to hurricanes - this was his first earthquake - I told him the same, get ready for some safety drills.  Know what I find funny and odd, no one is reporting it on our end - nothing of Fox or CNN.  He called me on way in to work, so first thing I did was go online - saw one article after digging deep on Fox's site.  Guess Trumps latest drama is more important.  Thanks for words of encouragement.  Funny you say 5.6 is a good shaker - we look to cat 3 as a good party hurricane.
