My daughter is stationed in Yokosuka and she loves it. She has been there a little over a year.
  • DREW7062

T Lynn. OMG HOW adorable such a beautiful pic.
CLASSYCALCAT - my son is in a Yokosuka almost 2 years for almost 2 years,
  • Anti M

Tlynn, that is an adorable picture.

  • 2tymeNavyMom

Checking in.  My son has been in Yokosuka for 2 years 2 months.  We miss him terribly but he is having a great time and while he is young and unmarried we encourage him to explore the area.

  • Besties4dogs (NukeMM)

I didn't realize there was a Japan Mom's group.  My son has been in Yokosuka since last October.  My husband and I will be visiting him next year!  I can't wait.

  • Mississippi Mom

Blondie, you have to be totally exhausted!  I needed a nap after reading your post.

T-Lynn, love that picture!  I would love to give him many kisses on those sweet cheeks.

Hubby my yard ornaments out last weekend, and I tried to get all the spot lights on them yesterday.  I got so blooming frustrated with extension cords that I was about to melt down by the time hubby got home from work.  I have a blood blister from the sledge hammer and whacked my other hand really good on the steel culvert that runs under our driveway.  I finally gave up last night, as it was getting cold and dark.  I was in my yard this morning at 7:00 a.m. trying to get it all done.  It was 28 degrees and a heavy frost.  I finally managed to get it all lit up.   I told hubby that I think I almost got frost bite on my toes sticking out of this goofy boot!  LOL!  He was aggravated that I didn't leave it for him.  He is off today but has to drive his Mom to a Dr. appt. 2 hours away.  I have not even started inside.  Hubs was bringing my tree in this morning.  We are suppose to have rain tomorrow and Sunday, so hopefully I will get the inside decorated.

Hope all of you are having a great Friday!

Hi all. Just got news from sailor about new orders... he will be returning to the states for his next post. After 3 years in Yokosuka, that he enjoyed, he reenlisted.  Have loved reading everyone's posts and will continue doing so. This site has always been there anytime I had a question or just needed not to feel alone.

  • Lauren - Ship 11 Div 317

my son has been in Yokosuka for a year now, I am more of a stalker, I don't post much, but am certainly learning from this site

  • Wheatonpup

My son has been in Yokosuka since August.  His first deployment--3 months at sea on the Ronald Reagan.  Any other Ronald Reagan moms here?

  • Greenbelli

My son has been in Yokosuka since June, his wife was just able to move there she arrived there laast night. They will be there for 3 years. I don't post a lot, but really enjoy reading all the posts. I am struggling with the holidays, this is the first year I have ever been apart from my son for the holidays and it is VERY emotional for me. The thing that gets me through is knowing that he now gets to start making his own memories with his wife in a new place! I look forward to hearing about their adventures for the next 3 years.

Prayers and strength to all you wonderful women this holiday season.

  • Chewy's Mom

My son is also stationed in Yokosuka, for a little over 2 months now. He has yet to send me an address. How does he get that information (the post office I would assume). He seems to think it's hard, I think he is being a little lazy. :) He hasn't been there long but the time difference makes it hard to communicate. He has made a few friends and likes to go out when he can. He has sent some pretty cool pictures. This will be our first Christmas without him home and it is very emotional. Thanksgiving was hard enough. I'm not looking forward to it and if I can't send him anything, I really won't be happy. How long does it typically take to get a small package to Japan from the Mid West?

  • Casu

I would like to send cookies for the holidays how do I ship them to keep them fresh
  • NavyMum

Chewy's Mom - My son is Okinawa so I'm not sure on specifics for Yokosuka but he got his address from his sponsor before he even got there. I would assume the post office would be able to help  -I'll check with my son as he works in the post office and should know.

As for how long a package takes - I find if I mail on Saturday, he usually has it a week Tuesday or Wednesday (priority mail) coming from Florida so about 10 days? I know my son said to mail Christmas priority packages by Dec 9th.

  • Lauren - Ship 11 Div 317

    my sons is:

      his name

    PSC ###  Box ####

FPO AP  96350-1500, so maybe he needs to find out his PSC and BOX #'s and you should be good to go?

  • Anti M

Every ship has a unique FPO.  Finding the address is simple, he just asks at work.  His LPO or chief would know, no need to go to the post office.  They all have the same address if they work together.  You can google the FPO, knowing his department or division is the tricky part.

Holiday mail takes a little extra time, so ship soon.

Freeze the cookies of they are the kind which can take it. Use a plastic container packed as full as you can get it, use wax paper between layers.  Or use a Pringles can.  A box which is tightly packed will have less damage.  Do not mix soaps or scented items with food.  Use socks as padding!

  • VirgoMom904

Hello Navy Moms, I'm getting ready to ship out my daughters Christmas gifts to Yokosuka and I'm wondering if I can ship them out wrapped? This is her first Christmas away from home and it's gonna be hard on all of us. I'm shipping her stuff Monday, I'm wondering if that's enough time for Christmas arrival.
  • NavyMum

VirgoMom904 - I wrapped my son's - they are going to directly to our sailors via the mail so wrapping shouldn't be an issue. I think Monday should be fine for mailing for Christmas - my son in Okinawa said Dec 9th was the latest he suggested.

This is our 2nd Christmas without our Sailor - he was at basic last year for Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years so it's easier this year knowing we can send gifts and even phone him

  • VirgoMom904

NavyMum- Thank you :) that's really helpful information.
  • NavyMum

Chewy's mum - I asked my son and he said if he's shore-based, then he should check with the (Navy) post office on base. If he's ship-based, he can either ask his coworkers or the ship's post office.

  • JDMK-NavyMom

Just saw the following message...not sure if it is accurate...so I'm posting, because I don't want to be deleted...I follow posts by way of email..

“Deleting inactive members - The ad agency that handles N4M is in the process of updating the site.  If you have not been active since 12/1/15 you will be deleted to make room for new members.  You will be able to re-join.  If you don't want to be deleted you will need to post something in any of your groups to activate your account.  They have already started deleting members.”

  • ellen0502

The message about deleting members is real. We are trying to get to all the active groups, but there are hundreds. If you are a part of another group, and the deleting members post is not there, please feel free, and do share!

The ad agency is working to delete members, and take care of other critical website issues. A group of us are moving our fingers as quickly as possible to let new members in, clean up some other things etc., it will take some time. If you look to the left of this page you will see new members incoming, something that hasn't happened since April.:)

    Good things are coming!!!

  • daysia

    Good morning
My son is a STG in Japan
  • Suzan

My sailor is coming home for two weeks at the end of this month!!!  It has been 1.5 years since I've seen her... except for Skype :)

  • disneygirl64

My son is on the Reagan he has been there since mid July

  • misser

    Hi Wheatonpup

My daughter is also on the RR.When they're out to sea communication is sparse. They are now in port and we can talk on a daily basis. Being a Navy Mom, you learn to be quite patient and savor those conversations you are able to have !!!

  • T-Lynn

    HI

Thank you, we think he is adorable too. But this morning, I don't think his parent agree with that. He was his shining personality of being what my dil calls a "brat". And Yaya here made matters worse, I was giggling at the table. Gee- its fun being a Yaya - aka grandma.

Hugs to all the new Pan Mons and gentle hugs about this being your first Christmas without your sailor. It gets easier - well - you just don;t cry so hard the longer they are there. Our sailor's first Christmas there - we planned a phone call when we all opened our gifts together. That way we could hear the joy and excitement of opening the gifts. Couldn't see his face, but my heart could feel his joy.

Hey - are we all going to have a date and time to have a Pan mom's Christmas toast? To the new Pan oms, we pick a day and time to being thinking about each of us Pan Moms and we give a toast to all. I'm going to toast with that Cranberry Ginger Ale!!!! So how about it ladies - day and time?

Blondie, how are things going for you and baby? All better I hope.

Did any one else have a vision of the movie " Christmas Vacation" as Miss share about putting up the decorations. Hey - Miss share how the decorating the tree goes :) !

    Kim - check in please.

    Maggs - all going ok?

Well, I need to get - I am going back to work today. Its the roller skating party. No I am not skating. Last time I fell. You guess it too - on my bottom and I didn't bounce.  But dil and grandson going alone. Will get some pics to share.

All have a good day hugs

  • kjsdaughter

My sailor is also coming home the end of this month can't wait to see her.
  • DREW7062

Hi everyone this is probably a repeat question but does anyone know how long it takes to get a letter and or parcelso to Yokosuka Japan from the US I have not sent my son's Christmas card yet hopefully in the next couple days I'll be sending it in a couple Days. Also another question does anyone have a hard time with their sailors sending their address my son took almost 6 months to send me his address and he says well I'm not sure and I think he was just lazy trying to find it also he doesn't call home often I don't know if he's home sick and he just doesn't want to hear our voices or he's having so much fun he just forgot about us LOL. Well I guess I just have to let go and let God
  • misser

    Drew7062
Now that the sailors are in port a package will probably arrive in 7-10 days. Go to the post office and get the flat rate box. The big one will cost around 16 dollars regardless of weight. You can also track and get alerts on the packages' whereabouts.
  • VirgoMom904

Would like to stay in this group, also so happy for the Moms who's sailors will be home for Christmas!! Yay!!
  • DREW7062

Misser - thank you sooo much blessing to you and your sailor
  • tytulip40

DFEW7062 - takes about 10 days from Fort Lauderdale, Florida - we are about as far as you can get.  I'd use that time frame for sending - I sent a box Sat and will send Christmas box this coming weekend.

  • tytulip40

God bless all sailors who are going home!

My son didn't get approved for leave - I'll pray some time next year I'll get to see him.  It's been 1-½ years - whewww, choking up!

  • Anti M

I am so sorry he didn't get to take leave.  But he will eventually, and you can have a big celebration then!

  • DREW7062

Good evening everyone I'm getting ready to mail a package to my son for Christmas however he sent an address to me I don't know if this is the complete address I don't want to give the address online but do you include the city or state or country because he didn't send a country he just said his name and E3and then Box number and then and the FPO address but I didn't see anything That said Yokosuka Japan doesn't it have to say that in the address on the box as well. Does the mail service note to send that to Japan with just the info that I gave example all my son sent was
    Name E3
    PCS ---
    Box A
    FPO AP 11111-1111
The 1's are just numbers I put in I didn't put the address that he sent me does that look like an address do I have to put the country as well
    Thanks
  • 2tymeNavyMom

That looks just like my sons address. I think you have got it.
  • DREW7062

Thanks 2 Tyne navy mom but do you hav to put Yokosuka Japan on the package also
  • Anti M

No, you do not need to put Yokosuka or Japan.  The "FPO AP" is what stands in place of the city and state.  It is in the military mail system, so they know where ot goes by that and the zip code.

  • DREW7062

ANI M and 2TYMENAVY MOM -- -Thank you soooo much putting in mail now this is such an awesome site everyone's so helpful thanks again
  • Kim

I haven't been on in a few days and this site exploded.  LOL.  Good to hear from so many people.  Sorry for all of you missing your sailors this Christmas.

My sailor made the drive across country from New York to San Diego.  He is still sick, heading to the hospital today.  He is supposed to fly to Virginia Beach on Thursday for training.  He received a NAM and other awards for his time recruiting.  The day he was leaving he heard that a young 22 year old girl that he had just put in died of a heart attack overnight.  It was such a shock.

I'll catch up more later and post a picture of my grandson.

Forgot, welcome new moms.  I can't wait to hear all of your stories.

  • scully_the_skeptic

Guess I'm a stalker. My sailor is in Yokosuka & assigned to a cruiser. Just back from being forward deployed in support of the Reagan. He won't be coming home but will be taking time at new year. sending off his Christmas package this week - uses flat is the best & the folks at our post office are so great at getting our boxes & forms done right. We have our marine in Okinawa & his package goes out this week too. No time home this year over holidays - his command let him come home twice for funerals. Thank goodness for technology. I wish all of you a very merry Christmas, or a wonderful holiday that you celebrate.
  • Woodruffmom3

Good morning all! I am so excited!! We get to go see our son for Christmas. He couldn't take a whole lot of time off so we are going to him. He is stationed in Sasebo.
