  • Suzan

Read about needing to post. It has been a loong time. Suffered a concussion in march 2015, and was unable to be on computer for a very long time. Lights and loud sounds still bother me, and balance problems, headaches; but slowly improving.

My sailor left Japan after 5 years and is now at Pax River, MD. Lovemyson-he was on the Shiloh while in Japan. Smaller ship, more frequent, but shorter deployments than the bigger ships. He liked that.

My hubby recently had his second heart attack, first was 10 years ago. Now, they also put in a pacemaker/defibrillator. And he is only 64!  But he is still here, so thankful for that and I am a grandma 3 times now!  Nolan & Blake have a baby brother-Carson. Will try to post picture over the holidays.

Keeping all in my prayers & will be toasting on the 25th!

  • Vicky

    Hi

Blondie, I had that happen. I just entering my password several times and finally I got my pages back. Hope you do to soon. How is Blondie Jr. doing?

Yippee, for moms heading to Japan!!! Have an awesome trip and share one hug from all of us Moms here please.

Hi Barb, glad you are back. Sorry about all the "bad bumps in the road" you and your family has has. Wishing for all this to leave soon and you have a joyful Christmas. Gentle Hugs

Sorry - gossip here. Just a Friday!!!  Wish all a great weekend. hugs

  • Blondie

Blondie Jr. is doing well.  finished up school until after Christmas, She is one of her Professors record student!!!  Best student he' s ever had(highest grade %)  she is so Happy.  LOL  some things never change.  She has gotten baby brain...meaning she thinks she's loosing her mind.  LOL  lost her keys for 2 days,  they looked Everywhere and then again, I gave every idea including laundry, fridge...she found them in a coat she swears she hadn't wore for 3 years!  You ask her a question and she zones out.  it's quit funny

Old man Winter has come to stay.  last 2 weeks, Winter Storm Advisory, then Windchill Advisory, then wind, rain, freezing, more snow...repeat.  Hubby never home, lots of furnaces and wells (water freezing)  my work goes either way, elderly calling off not wanting to be outside, we don't want them out!  but then a lot of injuries....Dr. M's middle daughter was in and out of ER wed. they transferred her to Children's Hospital 2 hour away so it's been a mess here!  But I'm holding it together.  Feel so much better knowing I can get back on here!

Hugs to all.  Stay safe and warm!

  • maggs

Not getting any notices, so I decided to pop in.. They had deleted me!!!

  • T-Lynn

    HI

I have another mom on another site deleted too.

     Anyone know what's up?

Isn't there a complaint area we can send to?

Well, glad Bondie and Maggs are back on. It appears like you a a total new sight - just like on for the first time. Guess I better Friend You. Hugs

Going to find the complaint department.

Oh - welcome MamaB. My sailor was in Sasebo several years ago, but it appears he is going back this Spring. Your sailor will love the place :).

    Hugs all

  • T-Lynn

Hey - i just sent a friend request. You guys are totally gone!

And Blondie - I could only send you a friend request - no personal message was permitted.  Funny about Blondie Jr and not remembering. AT least she is doing great in class!!!

    Hugs

  • ellen0502

The agency in charge of deleting members has been asked to stop for now, and they have as far as we can tell. We don't know why active members have been deleted, and there have been several. We have already complained. :)

Please check your "My Page" and see if there is activity showing. Even post a comment to yourself on your "My Page" that you are still active. Don't know if that will help, but if your "My Page" looks inactive that might be the issue.

  • tytulip40

@ circusgrandma and  jenjen1968 - I'm an Atsugi mom also!  Son has been there for 1-½ years.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

  • DREW7062

Hi TYTULIP I'm a Yokosuka mom LOL my sons been there about a year and a half as well . He says he has two years but I think he really has three years he didn't want to hurt my feelings by telling me three years LOL after their tour is over do they voluntarily come to the states or can they stay there in Japan as long as they want or how does that work Anti M where are you... :-
Merry Christmas and happy new year!)
  • Anti M

    I'm here, Drew.

What you are talking about is an extension.  That can be asked for at any duty station.  If the sailor wants to complete their sea or shore duty rotation at the same command, they may request another year.  If the command needs them, and if their rotation and enlistment allows, it may be granted.  It is not just for Japan and it is not guaranteed.  It does save the Navy money if they don't move them around.

My husband extended several of his tours, one of them in Japan.  I extended there too, but before I married him.

  • DREW7062

Thank you Anti M as always you answered my question. You are great thank you so much merry Christmas to you and yours.
  • T-Lynn

If anyone needs to get a message to Santa - ASP!

    I'm your Elf !

  • maggs

I got an e-mail saying Some that were put on the ACTIVE list had been deleted by accident.

  • Blondie

maggs glad you found your way back too.  probably didn't have the problems I did, I'm so dumb about computers and internet.  Hope all is well at your house.

Blondie Jr. had a GREAT check-up even gained weight =5 lbs!

    Love the Elf

  • Blondie

did we decide on a time for our toast?  Did anyone write anything?????

  • Blondie

  • maggs

  • Circusgrandma

I have another dumb mom question.....  While skyping with my son on Christmas Eve, he used an acronym that sounded like obser, in reference to going to Japan.  Does anyone know what he was really saying, and what it stands for?

  • Kim

Navyfan, that has happened to my sailor and he had to get a flight the next day.  They have a phone number to call.  There is always someone on watch to answer the phone. My sailor had to use an extra vacation day.

Circusgrandma, Do you mean OPSEC?  That is Operations Security and there is a link to the left of this page.

  • Kim

Circusgrandma, No question is ever dumb on this site.  Just the opposite....Not asking would be dumb.  LoL.

  • Anti M

@Circusgrandma .... sounds like OBSERV, or obligated service.  It means they need a certain amount of time on their contract to accept overseas orders, and might need to "obligate service" to extend their time to get a set of orders they want, or to bring dependents with them.  There are a number of circumstances which might rerquier an OBSERV of more time.

  • Circusgrandma

@Anti M  Yes, that's exactly what he was trying to tell me!  Thank you so much!  His contract would have ended in March 2017.  Makes sense now. I am so thankful to have found you all - I feel like I'm going to be so much better informed, which makes me feel more connected to my sailor.  We didn't have 18 - 20 years to bond before he left, as he came to us as a 17 yr old foster son.  We don't have that long established pattern of communication and relationship that I have my other kids, which has made a long distance relationship a little harder.  Thanks for helping!

  • DREW7062

circusgrandma - YEP Anti M is the greatest she has helped me out soooo much and I appreciate her. Sometimes I felt like I was losing it. The folks here are awesome. Thanks all and HAPPY NEW YEAR.

  • T-Lynn

    Hi

glad to hear that Blondie Jr is doing better. Wow - 5 pounds !!!!

Maggs- another Navy mom on another site had the same email sent to her too. That it was a big oops that the VERY ACTIVE - NEEDED moms got deleted. And there is now way to get any of the information back! At least you got an answer.

glad your sailor made his flight and hope many were able to hug or have contact with your sailor.

Circusgrandma    you shared you had only had a few years to bond with your sailor. He is calling you and keeping contact -right? sounds like you did a great job of bonding. He needs you. And you sending packages, taking his calls at anytime - that is a bond :).  Hugs

And what Kim said - only stupid questions are the ones not asked.

Blondie - my fault that there was no toast. I had set a time on Christmas Day 5PM Central.

BUT -- on Christmas Day my family was invited to have dinner at hubby's parents home. We said yes because it has been so many years of them not hosting. Well, the food was great tasting going down - BUT two hours later - headache, chills, and becoming teh BEST of friends with the bathroom started. I have never been so thankful for 3 bathrooms! I - my son - and my dil - ALL sick! Sitting on throne - holding bucket sick! At one point water was hard to hold down./Knock on wood - hubby and Riker ok. Riker refused to eat any of the food cooked by his great grandmother. My hubby has a cast iron stomach. Maybe we should have listened to Riker - he must have felt something not to eat.

I am just now drinking full glasses of water and can hold down a peanut butter sandwich.

So thanks for putting on that holiday message for us Blondie.

Hey- I'm willing to try again for New Years. anyone have a time we should have the toast?

Hope all had a great holiday  hugs

  • T-Lynn

    For Circusgrandma.

Hey - ladies. i still think we need to have t-shirt made with this on it!

  • Circusgrandma

@T-Lynn I love the t-shirt idea!  I'm up for a New Year's toast.  What about 10:01 AM on New Year's Eve?  Wouldn't that be 12:01 Am New Year's Day for our sailors?  Thank you all for the love.... :)

  • Blondie

Glad sailor made it back and as always everyone is helpful with answers.

T-Lynn hope everyone is healthy now.  a lot of "stuff" going around here.  Thankfully hubby and I keep taking our vitamins and moving forward. No worries, I toast our Military and families with each first sip.

Toast time works for me, what's the toast?

Busy time at work since everyone's sick, re arranging schedules.....people falling on ice or hurting themselves cutting/moving wood, everyone wants in one more time before the end of year and insurance starts over (deductible) in Jan.  or changes completely.  One of our biggest insurance companies in Ohio decided to drop individuals policies!  What a mess.  Plus I have to do inventory and not only month ends but year ends.

I took last Saturday (Christmas Eve) off and Monday and plan to do the same this week. Then remembered I need to work Monday to close out last year.  So told everyone we will be closed Monday! So much easier on me when no one is here to bother me.  Boss lady was so excited we've never closed in the 25 years.  I told her YOU"RE the Boss, close whenever you want! I'm  also leaving Friday early to get my oil changed since I had to cancel last week do to gallbladder attack.  UGG

Joe will be home late Thursday or Friday.  fast turn around tho, just picking up his deer meat and baby things and heading back Saturday after getting adjusted.  So Only have the one day which he'll want to sleep after working all day and driving straight thru.....but at least I get a HUG and can send one back for daughter and baby!  So wanted Friday off to spend and cook for him!  Hoping he can get back before new year's eve drunks get on the road.  Then we're planning on going down for MLK weekend!!!!!  Pray the weather stays good through WV.

well got to run, patients filling up the reception room.

  • maggs

How about New Year Toast?  After saying Happy New year to one and all. WE should recharge our classes, and toast our sailors., No matter where we are, or what time zone?

  • Anti M

I love a toast just after midnight, doing it in each time zone would make a wave of love across the country!

  • Blondie

    Happy New Year.

busy weekend as usual.  Had a house full.  I picked up Connor Friday after work, Joe got in late, so we stayed up till 1am, doctor appointments on Saturday, gave Joe my massage, loaded his car with deer meat and baby things he left @1:30, Hubby and I went to Church and out to dinner....Connor/JD. Rhyen and Jeremy went to a kids celebration....yesterday was the same catch up[, shopping, dishes, laundry...hugging on my grandbabies.  Coonor left @6pm and Rhyen left at 11pm.  We both had to work this morning.

Weird drive to work, I'm the only one working in our village...it was raining and foggy and no one else on the road, no houses with lights....I was to do weeklies, month-ends and year-ends.  well nothing has gone right so far.  Finally got weeklies and month-ends done but why won't year ends come out, if every month-ends came out?  some is bounced checks and refunds but people REALLY need to stop voiding things!  I have a pain in my neck and headache, I need to eat something, maybe a nap and then think about coming back...nah, the rest can wait till tomorrow!

Best thing was with Joe on the road so much of the time, I got to talk/text X-Sailor alot

!!!  in 2 weeks we will be back out there to get a HUG.  Going for Navy Baby Shower, taking recliner and more baby things....Eldest daughter nad hubby are going too!!!!  waiting to hear from 2 aunts and a cousin...2 of Sailor's friends from here are going....gonna be a Great Time!

just needed to get away from books for a while but now I NEED to eat.  So guess I'm going home, screw the book work. LOL

  • maggs

  • T-Lynn

    HI

I fell off the edge of the world again. I somehow turned my cell to silent and didn't even know I had done it. Now I am playing catch up with family and friends. Then computer yelled it had no virus protection and the tv died during the new year eve's shows. So with all that was going on in my world - I forgot this world - and missed the toast and now hearing about Maggs' hurts.

Safe trip Maggs and gentle hugs.

Glad to see some of us check in.

And have fun Blondie with the baby shower. share some pics please.

I do wish for a Happy New Year to all. It will happen :). It just feel like some of us are stubbing our big toes as we start this year. some more so than the rest of us. But we can come here - someone is always there with a hand up and shoulder to lean on.

    Sweet dreams all - hugs

  • DREW7062
