Blondie - these sweet FUN pictures gave my heart a lift .
Thank you
What darlings. And their eyes - so much love.
And yes, know that feeling - when you type out the details and the computer goes - "What - oh you wanted that to be seen or printed . Not deleted. " And yes, you said it perfect.
Emma came through like a trooper with her tonsils and adenoids out. And tubes in her ears. Only the right ear gave her some problems. the doctor stated the moment he put in that tube - that ear just drained of infection and mucus. So it was cleaned out. Now she is home doing ok. Weekend was good - she even when to a winery to pick grapes. but today - she woke up at 3 ish am. Saying her throat on the ride side and her right ear hurt. So I had her home for the day. She took a 3 hour nap! But she did wake up during her nap - well kinda - she was still asleep! She said her ear and throat hurt - right side. I asked to get her meds - but no. She cuddled back down in my arms and feel hard asleep She got up around 3:30 pm to Papa coming home from work and cuddled in his arms for a while. Then she was fine - like nothin happened. she is going to day care tomorrow. Maybe I will get stuff done!
Sailor news - Navy changed its mind Now he is going to Charlestown South Carolina. Not Japan. I give up.
Our son is an RN on Okinawa. He's been there 1 yr...1 yr down, 1 yr to go.
It's been a rough year for him and us. He just went through a divorce before he deployed. We're doing our bit for our country and are serving as his dog sitters for 2 years. LOL.
Hello chergui53! So sorry that your son had deal with this before deployment.
We did our part too, with our son's dogs. He came home married, and she had a dog, so we still have one of his dogs. The other one (Black Lab) passed away 2 years ago. I still miss that dog every day. My son says all of the time that Jack doesn't even think of him as his owner. I tell him he's not, he is my dog now. He a mixed conglomeration of many, but does have some Jack Russell, hence the name Jack! He is something else.
I hope you all have a great Labor Day Weekend! My begins shortly. We close on Thursday afternoons, and we will be closed Friday and Monday! No big plans other than trying to catch up at home and watch some college football with hubby!
My son took both his dogs with him to Oki. It was such a hassle especially in the summer. He was delayed over a week because he kept getting bumped off because it was too hot for the dogs. Ended up having to fly out of La. instead of San Diego so he would land at night when it was cooler.
My son is finally settling in at Yokusaka. He has some buddies there that he was in Nuke School with so I think that made it easier. He said he went through his first Typhoon and I laughed because we live in Texas and we have at least 1 a year, I explained that a Typhoon was just a hurricane spinning in the opposite direction LOL! He laughed! He said him and a buddy walked to Panda Express in the typhoon. When your hungry your hungry I guess! He sent me a picture of the Chilis menu and it had How to Eat a Fajita demonstration on the menu and we got a big kick out of it because if you live in Texas you are born knowing how to eat a fajita! It was good to talk to him and hear his voice. Miss that kid a bunch!
My oldest daughter is getting married in October and her and my son were close so she is a little bummed he won't be there, we all are but we know he is where he needs to be and we are super proud of him! Anyone have any ideas on how to have him be a part of the wedding without him physically being there or on the phone?
We are thinking of going to Japan next year some time. Has anyone been recently and have some travel tips?
Thank you Mississippi Mom. After our son finishes in Oki (rules say I can't say where he's going), but we might be caring for his dog another 2 years? She's a lab and is 8 yrs old. Not sure their life span?
Yikes, Wendy, can't believe your son took his dogs with him. Did he have to keep them in quarantine until the government said they were healthy to integrate into the population?
@ Chergui53...No, went straight from airport to hotel, and then from there to base housing. They just couldn't leave the base with them. If they would have lived in town, then they would have had to be quarantined.
We took one of our daughter's dog also, still have him. guess he's ours now. Lots of bills so would LOVE to give him back. LOL We love him and it's easier on her.
Glad they're all settling in. My daughter (and us too) Loved it there!
khryse, we've skyped them in. back in the day. LOL Video call them should work. For my daughter's wedding we bought a monkey stuffed animal (for Sailor, family joke) and took him everywhere with us, dress fittings, caterers, venue, florist.....and took pictures of him Enjoying himself and sent to her. She wasn't always available to video or call (almost never) she was in the Middle east at the time. we bought her a maid of honor dress had a picture and chair as her stand in. BUT she made it back and was present!! What a surprise ! For my Son's wedding, 3 years later Same process . She was His Best Person (man). She was leaving the Middle East and heading to Japan that same month so not likely to make it to the states. Discussed postponing it. But The let her leave the ME early and come home. so She made the bachelor's party and wedding. We Lucked out in both.
Gotta go, work is busy as always. Taking off Saturday and Monday so fitting everyone in today! Long, busy week with Month-ends and schedule, owner changes..... Can't wait to relax. well... After, mowing the yard, making my Dad's bathroom handicap accessible, picking and canning the garden, laundry, grocery shopping....! I AM going out to eat with my sister Sat. at 1:00. And hopefully a drink or 2 by the pond on Sunday, And hopefully Husband and dog snuggles sometime.
Hi khryse - Saw your post about your sailor not being home for his sister's wedding. My daughter has been missing our sailor, so we had a 'Flat Henry' made, essentially a photo of his head/face on a stick. Made sure that the photo was lifesized. That helped her. Then her dad got sick and couldn't go to a fan fest and get the photos he'd paid for, so we made "Flat Daddy" for her, for them. All of the actors there were thrilled to have their photos taken with him. I got the idea from others doing the same thing for weddings, holiday dinners, etc.
Quick question - is a Pan Mom, a Japan Mom? Relatively new here, my son doesn't land there until after his A school in Nov. but he's destined for Japan afterwards.
The name of Pan Moms. When it first started, we had a mom who's sailor's young nephew could not say Japan. But Pan came out loud and clear. WE all fell in love with this Pan and started calling ourselves the Pan Navy Moms. It just stuck. Abd by the way - once a Pan mom - ALWAYS a Pan Mom. Even if you sailor is no longer stationed any where in Japan or even OUT of the Navy. You stuck now.
The simply truth - we all really got to know each other over these key boards seas. We were able to share joys - saddness - frustrations - YOU name it - we all shared it. And even some of us got lucky to actually meet up. And those who did - first things - share hugs fro mall us. and then got back to the site to share pictures and stories. We even have Baby pools ! You know - name - date - weight - boy or girl - etc. It was bragging rights - but we were together. And we all have promised that one day we will ALL get together. Plus, we will be wearing t-shirts that say "Pan Navy Moms"
And for me - navy changed its mind. Now sailor will not be headed back to japan for a 3rd time - somewhere in teh states. I give up, but still a Pan Mom
Hey - Blondie and Kim and I know another went to Japan - need to share details go help a fellow mom here.
I like the ideas of having a "Flat Sailor" for pictures - but I do remember that monkey Blondie! What fun that was.
Oh did any of you see - blondie actually is taking Saturday and Monday OFF ! too the new moms - blondie makes the Energizer Bunny look like its standing still.
So new moms ask away - promise someone will have answers.
Here the weather is trying to be Autumn and I love it!! We even have maple trees turning colors !!!! We grew pumpkins again , but this time the pumpkins are black. Not kidding - black pumpkins. They even have a deep green shine to them. Yes, will try again to get pictures on here. I know it has to be me goofing something.
Grand kids are fine - honest - I am glad they are back to day care and school.
So to celebrate my birthday - several years back - and my first crown - I had a pink flamingo placed on it. I was told the guy who does the Crown art work - was so excited - its his first flamingo
T-Lynn, Love all the pictures, Sure brings back Great Memories!
I went to Japan 2010/2011 not sure anything is the same, Lots have changed. I remember everyone was so Nice and the whole country was Clean! no trash anyway, people would chase you down to hand back something you dropped. They'd go out of their way to help you get on the correct train and get off at the right stop even if it meant they went with you!!! Out daughter had an apartment off base so we didn't deal with hotels and such. We did backpack 3 days touring the country, staying in a hostel(?) 8 people to a room, common kitchen, bath and living area.
Even with the extra day in the weekend, I didn't get everything done! (sigh) I'm moving a little slower these days. Plus it rained. :( My kids still claim I get more done in a day then they do all week. LOL Canning season.... Yesterday day at work was catch up and boy were we Busy! Started early, worked into lunch, started afternoon back early and stayed late. today looks no different. I have 3 practitioners today!!! Geez getting too Old for this!
Sept. 1st. new owner took over the practice. Right in the middle of the week and Month-ends! And hours changed!! They wanted to raise prices too, I put my foot DOWN, Price change will go in effect Oct. 1st.
So, I arrived back home. and the Queen died! Now I am not saying it was Coincidence, However, she lived 98 years, and last two times I was here was for funerals!!
Hello Pan Moms! It has been a while....sorry T-Lynn. It has been crazy busy at work and at home. I can honestly say, mine life has not been as busy as Blondie's, but she is the Energizer Bunny and I'm not. LOL!
Blondie, I am just tired after reading about your work schedule, and then you throw in that 2 page list of what you have done at home and I need a nap! LOL! I just don't know how you do it. Hang in there sweet friend, and get some rest every chance you get.
Not much excitement going on with us at the moment and that is okay. We celebrated out son's birthday this weekend. Saturday he wanted to go to a gun show, so we did that. Sunday, hubby grilled steaks and they came over for dinner. Our daughter's birthday is on the 22nd, and I am getting her package ready to ship. She and her husband just got home from a trip to Spain. They had a wonderful time, and really enjoyed getting to see all that they did. She is still struggling with jetlag, and the time difference. She is also working some long hours at work, trying to catch up.
I have been busy with yard work, and trying to stay caught up, but I have determined that is a loosing battle. There is always something to do. Hubs is staying busy with his business. He is working on a set of kitchen cabinets, and has another job to start as soon as he gets this one done. He also has a couple of bathrooms that he has been asked to do. He helped our son last week on his bathroom. He said he got him started and then let him do a lot of the work. It looks really good.
Maggs, I am sure it was a coincidence! I have been watching a lot of the coverage on the news. She was certainly a very classy lady, even through all of her heartbreak with her family. Everyone loved the Queen.
Hello Fall! Our high today will be 61 and low tonight 44. The storm from the last 2 days has moved to our south, high fluffy clouds with bright clear blue sky moving in. To our North the next thunderheads loom, maybe by sat. night or Sunday we'll have rain again. I LOVE the cooler weather but could do without the rain, fog and frost!
When I picked my green beans this week, I pulled the plants (no bending over). Garlic has been dried and those for winter planting pulled apart and waiting. Onions pulled and drying about half the potatoes have been dug. Tomatoes and peppers still doing well, this cold will slow them down. By next weekend we'll be doing soup on the open fire and canning it for winter. That's why October is one of my favorite Months and our Anniversary. Work slows down and we Enjoy the cooler air before Winter hits.
Work is as Crazy as it gets. Busy, Busy, Busy! Everyone is trying to get us to the hour changes and which doctor is in which days. ALOT of long days, 20 min. lunches to run to bank, post office and let my doggies out. I have gotten my Saturdays off and only scheduled for 1 in Oct. But we have Church Festival and a family Wedding. So my Oct. weekends are still busy.
Eldest daughter I believe has given up getting pregnant again. So either 2 is it or maybe adoption down the road. What a relief not to have to Worry for her or another baby's life! Youngest daughter (ex-military) is on the move again. Moving to Texas! Although we back her a 100 % Can't say how hard this is on all of us. Yes, my heart is breaking again. Losing Tahlia again.... okay not losing but not being able to hug her, take her to the library, swimming....What it means for Joseph and Lilianna.... Another BIG change, school, daycare, house. this is they're 8th move in (almost) 3 years! My daughter is working for other ex-military doing security...that's all I can say. Hoping it's a good move for her and she found her "glitch" and that Tahlia bounces back. I told hubby in the military they moved every 2-3 years but....
Doors are open, place is hopping gotta go.
Hope everyone has a Sun shiny day!
Navy Mom Strong. Navy Mom HUGS (cause I need them)
Blondie - I have to take a nap. I forgot to get some coffee while I was reading all you do! Texas ? What move! fingers crossed that all goes well. Sorry about other daughter not being able to have another baby - but the love your family has - adopting a child will such a gift. So glad that you will only work one Saturday in October. yes, I know you will be busy the other weekends - but that is fun family work.
Well Miss, I say you came in a close second to becoming an energizer bunny like Blondie! that was a month full of activity.
Hope your weather is cooler and you get some Me Time
Here has been family drama - Vic cares for his parents and sometimes that means - 3 to 4 times a week. Well he was doing that 2 weeks ago and then after they tested positive for Covid - they tell him. Even though they knew they had been exposed and should have not called on him. He was so frustrated. That the nice way to say it. No none of us got it and the parents only had mild flu symptoms. But Sunday he got a call again and he had to run. His mom is back in the hospital . No not covid - dehydrated - and blood clots. they did a blood test and found she had a small heart attack. She didn't even know it! So far she is doing ok. But I am trying to help my hubby to say to them - go to assistance living. That way they will get emergency help fast. And they can have meals they do not have to cook. So just being frustrated here.
But I do have knee surgery on November the 18th. Finally going to get it taken care of. Keep you all posted.
i have to run - got to get grandson off the school bus
T-Lynn I hope your in-laws sees the benefits of assisted living soon. Hang in there girl.
Worst weekend ever!
42 year old niece had a massive heart attack thur. 40 mins. without oxygen, life flighted, revived 4 times. Was put on life support to stabilize her. Fri. (we headed to kids'). They did a brain scan on Heather (niece) had to revive her 2 more times. Nothing. Family pow-wow, she has a 17- and 12-year-old, 2nd husband (of 3 years), ex-husband, mom, dad and step-dad... Cardiologist and Neurologist showed the scans and explained. Sat. brain swelling causing seizures, started renning her off the vent. Sun. MRI you have to have 2 tests denying life before you can unplug.... mon. they decided she was a donor and they need to decide if there is anything they can harvest.... So the family sits and waits some more. It's Terrible! They had all said good-bye Fri./Sat. but here's it's tue. and we're on hold. Her mother (my SIL) Dorothea just stopped to see me at work. She sobbed, tomorrow, it's all over tomorrow! Work has always been a no cry zone, but Lord! I Hugged and Rocked her telling her That is NOT Heather laying there, She's in the arms of our Lord. That's just a vessel (body) laying there. She nodded and said I keep telling myself that but I needed to hear YOU say it. I needed YOUR hug, you give the best hugs. and I died a little, No Mother should have to deal with this.
so back track to Sat. where I had to tell our girls what was happening to Heather. And ex-military tells us she's moving a full month sooner, could we take her out over Thanksgiving break. Who could say no! Took the grandkids apple picking, pumkins, gourds...ate kettle corn, apple cider donuts, drank warm apple cider... 3:00 I took the 2 girls (daughters) back to youngest's apartment to pick up her car for later. We all stopped in our tracks, on her doorstep was 1 single red rose laid out. We looked around and ex-military says I'm going in, well we weren't gonna let her go alone! so we all went in, nothing out of place, all windows and doors secure, nothing on patio. She starts getting her car seat together, keys and food to take with us, eldest daughter goes outside to look around, I follow and stand in entrance. we found other doors with greenery on doorstep, some empty. We contacted housing, no ones in until monday, but no emails were sent out. We got in our now 2 cars, heading out different ways to scout out other doorsteps. found more roses and more greenery, I pulled in and parked, daughter comes around side of building walking! What are you doing! Jogger coming, she approaches him (he's in a hoody and has hands in his front pocket.) he says something and she steps back, oldest jumps out of my car and says I got her, you take him out. LOL He lived in one of the units we were at, said he had no rose, looked at the ones they pointed out shrugged and went into his unit. Another guy said nope, no rose, seen a women walking her dog, she didn't notice but was scared, so we followed her home. So police feels she's been marked No kidding! males no markings, stay away from those units, single women get greenery, rose single mom. UGG
Then Sat. night my SIL got a mild case of food poisoning!
He was okay Sun. so we came home around 3ish.
This is my Life! Just needed to vent and feel your support. Thank you.
Blondie - That is the Worst weekend ever! I am so sorry you are going through all of that. BNMH! so sorry for your loss and praying for you and your family.
Blondie - your SIL is right - your hugs and words heal. She needed you and you were there. Like when you come here and listen to us in need. We feel your hugs. Hoping you feel ours.
But gee wiz gf! Two Extremes events! Lose of a family member and then the roses! Plus food poisoning. Your roller coaster ride has to valley out soon. Hang in there - we here are right beside you.
Good news to share. Sailor got to come home for a surprise visit and then stayed another 2 or three days !!!! We did the important things - Apple Orchard, Beef a Roo cheddar fries, Mrs. Fisher's chips, and friends. Then he called the base he is reporting too and good news there too. Possible room available for him. So things are working out.
Hubby's mom will be going to a nursing home for the rest of her life. No home care is possible - too many medical needs. And father n law - not sure what he wants to do. But hubby has not been home after work all week. And it looks like this will continue for a while. Just wish I could help him - but he says he is handling it. I'll be here when he ask for help.
Other wise all good. Emma loves here her day care and Riker is really into Cub Scouting.
Thanks for the Hugs and kind words. It was/is alot!
Heather was disconnected from life support yesterday at 2:00 with the family present. Her body was harvested, then sent to an unknow destination (what is that all about?) for skin donation (I guess). First they told us they didn't know when we'd get the body back. Unacceptable! So late last night (after many phone calls) they said next Tue. but she would be cremated and we could have a funeral later in the week. What the heck?! Her poor Husband, Kids and Mom(Brother, Niece and Nephews let alone us aunts and uncles) How many good-byes can they take? How long? 2 WEEKS! And we all had to return to work/school, even tho we feel like throwing up ....busting into tears... UGGG
Housing development had no knowledge of roses or greenery. So Daughter took them out and showed them. Yes, some were still there, why anyone would leave them there! But daughter said there are still some there, the management didn't even take them away. Yep, Mama Bear got on her phone and cave them a talking too. Then I called the policy and told them housing wasn't doing a dang thing. Daughter said maintenance was out picking them up, with gloves on. Yeah what it they were laced with drugs and a kids picked it up? So feeling a lot better about her moving to Texas! (not really but that's what I'm telling myself.) She flies to MO tonight for her ex's wedding, Tahlia is in the wedding.
SIL had no lasting effects of the food poisoning, just not eating chicken. LOL I get it!
Hey gotta go. just wanted to say Thanks and update you.
Blondie, what events you and your family have been through. Gentle hugs. Honest I have no words, except how my heart hurts for you and your family. And that soon only happy memories will be stored in your hearts.
What s with management these days. Not caring to go out and look or pick up those roses. Its like you have to scream in their ears to get any thing done.
Here just going day to day trying to finish task. I give up. What ever gets done - is it. Not going to kill myself. I know one day , I will have things in order, sorted, and some stuff donated. Then pick just what I want to do ( dance shawls, weaving, etc) and that's it.
Will be decorating outside for Halloween, if its nice out. Hey, it was so cold on Monday and overcast too. And we had snow flurries! Not kidding. It didn't stay but what a tease.
Over the weekend we had a 40th wedding anniversary party. SIL and BIL renewed their vows. Almost got canceled because of Heather's passing, she was their flower girl. But her Mom said we're doing this, it was a surprise for my SIL and all her kids. BIL just told them they were taking family pictures. a TOTAL success! He dropped to 1 knee in front of his kids and grandkids and purposed all over again and then brought them to the Church where we all were including original maid of honor and best man. Lots of tears and celebration. We had a potluck at the farm and the weather was GREAT. Heather's mom and brother came, all was good. I think the family NEEDED this.
Still no word when we will get Heather's body back for a funeral. :(
T-Lynn, I admitted a few years ago, I can't do as much as I once did. I still make out my lists but if I get half of it marked off I consider it a good day. And on days I can't do any of it, I give myself Grace and Forgiveness. Trying to take "me" days but.... maybe 1 day. WE need to take care of ourselves!
We've had frosts and freezes, sleet and hail but no snow spotted yet. Our highs are mid-40's but they say this weekend 70! Indian Summer?
Blondie, so very sorry about your niece, my heart breaks for you and all of her family. Lots of prayers and hugs..... What a wonderful weekend for your family. That was so sweet and to think the Hubby did all of that. Happy he pulled it off and y'all were able to be together. I know that started some of the healing. Being with family is always a good thing.
T-Lynn, I think we are all getting there. I find myself quoting my Mother many times a day. She use to always say, "I just can't hold out to get as much done as I want to". I would remind her that none of us can. But I have turned into her, and it just aggravates me so bad. I am dreading the time change, cause I for sure won't get anything done then. We too have had some cold weather. They predicted 25 last night, but thankfully they missed it. It got to 35, and we did have some frost. It is suppose to be back in the 80's by the weekend, with cool nights.
I am trying to catch up at work. Hubby and I went went to Florida for a week and had a great time. Wish I was back there now. As the old saying goes, "when you play you pay". Sometimes I wonder if it is even worth taking off from work, but then I realize that yes it is very important.
Miss - you are so right! Taking TIME for a vacation is REALLY important. It lets us regenerate as i call it. I need that. One certain days - I feel teh need to get pack clothes and get in the car and go somewhere fun. Now just where that is - ? But I so want to go.
And I think we all turn into our Moms . And maybe that's an honor of our moms. They must of taught us something wonderful for us to want to do the same. Hugs Miss.
Blondie - after all these years - I finally got your code: " Got to Run". It means I am working on the To Do List and adding more!
What a loving celebration . It had to be heart warming. And YES this was a perfect kick off to healing.
Weather here was perfect Indian Summer - well now tis damp and cold. Fingers crossed this passes and Halloween is a perfect costume wearing weather for trick or treating.
Sailor was here for second visit. He was able to rent a room and is on the list for a room in the barracks. But he is back up his for his wife's daughter's graduation for navy Boot Camp!
And wee will drive in to Great Lakes area for a dinner with her. She has to report back to teh barracks at ( PM - she flys out to A School in Florida. At least we will see her.
the starting November 1st are the appointments to get ready for knee surgery. I came to a decision too, I am stepping down as secretary for the club. I have done it for 10 or 11 years now. I need to take time to heal. And be selfish and do some things I want to.
Well need to get. The Laundry Fairy - she moved in.
This Sunday we are having a Celebration of Life for my Niece. (finally).
Nov. 7th (my birthday) we had my Aunt's funeral. So GOOD to see all my cousins that I grew up with, raised our kids together.... then drifted apart because everyone's kids moved away and gave us Grandkids... My Dad is the only Elder we have left on either side of the family. My brother is next in line as oldest cousin. All I can say is, WOW. how did we get this old?
We are leaving here Tue. 22nd after work to start driving to Texas. Ex sailor and granddaughter is really moving. So, we're driving Tahlia to Missouri to be with her Dad for Thanksgiving, then driving with Daughter the rest of the way. Hoping to get there Thanksgiving night. Friday unload and unpack. Sat. flying back to Ohio and Daughter is flying to Missouri then flying back to Texas with Tahlia. I'm exhausted already! We were gonna stay until Sunday, I even took Monday morning off work. But... Cost of flights doubled from Sat. to Sun. so we're coming home Sat. and spending the extra time with other daughter 's family. :)
Then Hubby and I booked a get away for Christmas, we just NEED down time!
Everyone take a potty break, you're gonna need it!
a couple of weeks/ a month ago(?), I noticed my Static Guard at work was running low. Put it on my shopping list. I usually bring my partial from home and keep the new one at home. So today I remembered to grab my partial and put it in my work bag. Was in the bathroom fixing my hair when I grabbed the hair spray and proceeded to spray....looking in mirror. I realized the cap was orange and the bottle blue. My hair spray is clear cap and purple bottle!! Yep, I was spraying my hair with Static Guard! Confused I looked at husband, He deadpanned, No fly aways! I ran to the kitchen nope can in bag is static guard also. hmm. got to work and looked bottle here is hair spray, no static guard in sight. HOW LONG have I been spraying my hair with static guard ? No idea, could have been weeks or Months!
I SO NEEDED a laugh. Have to ask - does Static Guard work as will as hair spray?
Did you get the kids moved to Texas?
And YES, right with you would love a get away with hubby - ALONE !!!
this is short, I am doing well. knee replacement surgery was November 18th. I was already bending knee at 85% when I left hospital. Had a slight set back though - when the staples came out - I had some bleeding and my doctor wanted NO bleeding. So knee was placed a brace as NOT to bend . Brace off now and I will be starting over with physical therapy. Thankfully, I have a cute guy PT - his name is Jake. Yes, I am motivated !
Chat later. Nap time hugs
Hey - I have such a Low Gossip Tank - check in Navy Moms
Hello ladies. I joined this page because my sailor son is about to get shipped to Atsugi NAS and I was looking for folks whose sailors were stationed there. Or to help me understand what life for him will be like when he gets there in Feb. He'll be there 3 years and we aren't expecting him to visit until he's done there due to the cost of the travel.
What should we expect? Anything? He's E5 Master at Arms.
Welcome Henry's Mom. Your son will love Japan. As an E5 he is a seasoned sailor so I am sure he know many things about travelling. He will find a cell phone and plan in Japan and you can use many application like WhatsAPP for free phone calls and texts. We have a rule here that no one can leave and you must share gossip about yourself and your sailor (just kidding). We are a fun group of ladies. Ask any questions. We are here to help.
I have been MIA since the summer but reading all posts. We had a scare this summer. They saw a new dot in my sons MRI. For those new, my youngest is a 5 year survivor of brain cancer. Two months later it disappeared. We go again in January to confirm that it is nothing new. All of my sons including my sailor and family was able to visit for Thanksgiving. My grandson is getting big. He found a pad of paper and tape in my office and proceeded to post notes all over the house. I took them down with care and placed them in a box in my closet. My husband thinks I'm nuts but I will re-read them one day when I am missing them.
I think T-Lynn will be dancing with Jake soon! I suggest to skip the twist. Blondie, what a great idea to book a trip with hubbie. My kids are doing their own thing this Christmas and I was thinking of the same thing.
Hello to all my Japan Moms! Welcome Henry's Mom! You have found a great group of ladies, jump on when you have a moment and keep us updated.
It has been a while for me, lots of things have happened in my life. My boss passed away suddenly on November 22, and my life has been absolutely crazy since then. He had hernia surgery on November 8, and just had not bounced back from that. The surgeon told his wife, that while in surgery he saw something in his abdomen that was concerning and he had biopsied it and would give her the results at his follow up appointment. She took him back on the 21st, and he told her that his entire abdomen was basically covered in cancer and he was in the final stages. Yes, it was an huge shock!! She called me that afternoon and I about fell out of my chair. She said she was lining up hospice care for him. She called me early the next morning on the 22nd and told me he passed away shortly after midnight. It has been very devastating to say the least. I am still working, we are trying to tie up loose ends here at the office, and nothing is fast when you are dealing with the judicial system. I am thinking I will be here at least until the end of January, as I have 1099's that I have to mail on every real estate transaction that we have closed. We also are trying figure out what to do with files in the office, and everything else that is here. Her son and daughter-in-law are still here with her, and helping her with so much.
I trying to get my Christmas decorations out. It took me 3 days (working on and off) to get my tree up! Y'all, I have never dragged that task out that long! It was sitting in the middle of the floor, so hubby was ready for me to wind that job up. I still lack a few more little things, and he keeps telling me "what goes up, must come down"! I know that and I will be so aggravated at myself for doing this much when I am taking it down. Once I get started, I just don't have good sense! LOL! I got up this morning at 4:00 and worked on it until I had to get ready for work. I hope I wind it all up this afternoon when I get home.
I hope you all are doing well, we are good. Hubby is busy with 2 kitchens and he is about to wind them both up. He has another one that he has to draw out and then meet with the folks to make sure that he has it like they want. Since he talked to her she has added several more things. I tell him that is what women do!
T-Lynn, I hope you are doing great. Sounds like you are, especially with the cute therapist! LOL! Don't get too froggy and overdo it.
Kim, so thankful the new dot disappeared, and happy you had your sons home for Thanksgiving. I love that you saved those sweet notes. I have saved everything of my kiddos. They don't want it and will probably trash it all when the time comes.
T-Lynn, maybe this will hold you for a little while!
Amazon will now ship directly to FPO boxes. It is well worth the Prime fee to be able to ship during deployment or when stationed overseas. During my sailors last deployment I shipped him a jar of peanut butter one day and a bag of nuts the next. I used to have box that I filled with goodies once a month and paid the USPS flat rate discounted for military. It used to be $11.50 per month. Now it is around $20.00.
Hello All--this is the most crazy, fun, energetic and fabulous group of ladies I have ever had the pleasure of knowing!! I don't post much but follow and love reading about your lives. Mine is boring in comparison, but don't want it any of the way.
I was able to see my son a few months ago as he and about 60 others escorted a fellow Sailor's remains back to his home. He had dies in an accident, not military action, however that did not matter. I was unaware of the Seals program (?) to send a lot of fellow military buddies home with the deceased to honor him and his family. I don't know all of what went on, but there were several celebrations with the military guys and the family. I don't know all of what went on, but my son't friend had photos of the casket after the seals had all pounded their tridents onto the top so they could all remain a part of each other (as I understand it). It was amazing to see the brotherhood in action. I sit here tearing up just thinking about it, and hoping I never see any of this fellas in this capacity at my home. I know it had to make the fallen sailor's family proud and I certainly hope it helped in the grieving process. Gold Star is a strong family unit.
Back to happier thoughts!--my savior will be home for Christmas! He is coming after a long TDY before returning to base. I'm finally getting him to send pics (with him in them) more often! Already 12 years since he left for bootcamp. DANG!He's letting his hair grow out a bit recently. He's had a buzz cut since 2nd grade--now has about 3" in length, and cut in a modern style. I'm hoping to go to HI to see his place in March--got refundable tix just in case the Navy decides I don't need to see him that soon again.
cont'd...I had to cut and paste the remainder of my life story, didn't realize I went over 4000 characters!----
My daughter is in a seemingly good relationship now. She is twice divorced after those 2 decided to show their true colors. Still working on herself, but has come a loooong way--so proud if her. I guess I still step over her boundaries sometimes, but she's actually teaching me how to set some! These new generations and their thought processes confuse me sometimes! I'm old enough to just figure either deal straight out with it or let it go. No need to play games. She and her Dad both enjoy riding motorcycles, so they, and her new beau, get out to do that as often as they can. It is really dangerous here in Jacksonville on bikes, so sometimes I go and sometimes I stay at home. If I ever saw an accident involving her, I don't know what I would do.
Got to see my 4 yr old grandson for a couple of days in mid Nov. We all met in W NC Mts for a long weekend. He only gets to see us once or twice a year, so most of the visit is reintroducing. As he gets older, hope this changes. If we don't go N, we don't get to see him. I know it is their life, but when my kids were small, my husband and I made the effort, to get the kids to grandparents as much as the other way, so I am heartbroken it is only 1 way here. But I am glad my other 2 don't have kids. This world is a basket case.
Mom will have been living with us for 2 years this coming March. All is well! lol So may told us not to do it, but I really love having her here to talk to and be around. I was Army as well as my husband, and we have always lived away from family, and sorta isolated ourselves/stayed independent. (Again, we were the family that travelled to see relatives until my husband put his foot down and said he wanted our family vacation, not our vacations being spent going to see relatives.) And I wished we had done it sooner!! The roads go both ways, so if family want to see us, they can come down as easily as we can travel up.
But all are healthy here and still glad to get together! As I said, my life is pretty boring, working in the operating room 3 days a week, and splitting the remainder of the week with chores, doctor appointments and trying to camp in our popup when we steal away. Hubby and I took 2 weeks to SD for our anniversary. Black Hills, Crazy Horse, Badlands....all the touristy stuff and had a blast.
Stay warm, stay safe and if ever there is a plan to get together, please post it. If at all possible, I would love to meet y'all. We had a small group in NC of Navy Mom's that got together a couple times a year, and that was amazing!
I am in Jacksonville FL if anyone gets this way! I'll try to post pics form my son's visit.
And yes, I actually had to get a second gossip tank. If I hadn't, I would not have all the gossip from Chris.
Chris you are so right for this group!
Miss !!!!!! Are you trying to join the Energizer Bunny club? First off - hugs for the loss of your Boss. Gentle hugs to his family. But you are back to being you - busy and fun.
Kim !!!!! So good to hear from you. And vibes feel good about your son. I have seen alot of Pink Flamingoes of late - naturally I thought of you. You being here must have been the sign i would hear from you. Good .
Blondie out there?
Well Chris, you fit in. Looking forward to hearing more from you too.
Welcome Aboard henry's Mom. Just jump in the water - like Chris did and enjoy .
Sorry this is choppy, I still get tired. Especially because grandson just had to bring the flu from school. And yes, I got it. Kncock me on my backside for 3 days - but I still doing my required exercises. Now I have some new ones.
Jake wanted me to lift my leg straight up and point and flex with my tie. I was told this would be so hard. And then Jake handed me over to his assistant he is training. The next thing I heard was from the assistant of : "Jake?'. Jake looks up and goes: "Ok , give we need a new plan". I had my leg straight - up - flexing ankle and toes and was just 6 inches away from touching the wall behind me. And calmly said; " like this?". Basic dance exercise. Did i say PTs was fun? If not , I am having fun.
But I have to get ready for grandson coming from school, finish dinner, change clothes to go see Jake.
But the next time I get on, I'll share what I did. I will leave you with these words: " I am OK and so is the house".
So enjoyed catching up and meeting new friends! Welcome to all the newbies! Prayers for all those who are in need, ya all always in my thoughts and prayers. Happy dance for all those seeing their sailors and/or spending time with family.
I've been pretty stressed and tuckered out since the 1st of Nov. BUT I Survived! Nov. 22-27th was the Longest but went the quickest! Worked the 22nd until 6:00 pm then Trip to St. Louis MI to Texas and back to Ohio. Worked 5 long days. Did month ends and opened up Dec. and drove back to Columbus for the weekend. Then worked a 6day week, 10-11hour days and on Sat. after work threw a Birthday Party for my 2nd son. (his birthday was in Nov.) Hubby ran to the store for me or it'd never would have happened! Hubby working long hours and weeks also as his boss was out of state for a family emergency. Then another busy week for the both of us, busy at our clinic and hubby trying to get concrete poured and roofs dried in, siding on...all before weather stops them.
This past weekend was our couple get-away and Boy did we need it! Went to Amish country for their Holiday Special. Had a Great, relaxing time!!! Started out Sat. morning at the Pine Tree Barn, A restored 25,000 square foot historic barn home to award-winning shopping and dining overlooking the beautiful Killbuck Valley, lakes and 100-ace family Christmas tree farm. Onto BayLobster Cafe and Fish Market for lunch, Yum! scallops, crab cakes and lobster mac and cheese. Skipped the wineries ran out of time. drove another hour checked into our inn (now it's 2:00), Everything in Amish country closes at 5pm on Saturdays and doesn't open on Sundays. :( but only time we had to go. Did some shopping and scavenger hunts, ate at Mrs. Yoder's smorgasbord. Wonderful food! Then ended the evening at Han's Place Winery, a country bar with live music and lots of wine! Did a couple flights, I mean we were at a winery. Brought some home too! LOL Sunday was Church and another smorgasbord this time breakfast, no one goes hungry in Amish Country! Then drove 2 hours back home to Husband's Family Christmas, missed lunch but we brought dessert - Amish pies and cookies (yes, I took the easy way out)! Then onto my family's Christmas, well half of them, other half will be Christmas day. Took wine and cheese balls with crackers/breads (again from Amish country). I told husband easiest cooking I ever did LOL. Laundry and bed. Up at 5:30 and at work by 7:30 and my Crazy day/week began. Everyone wants in before their deductible reset on Jan. 1st. or seeing our Nutritionist for stocking stuffers or just to stay healthy with holiday/winter season., buying gift certificates for our massage therapist who is booked until next April. We are closed the 23rd-26th so I'll rest up then, yeah right!
Well, this is way too long and we're busy it's taken forever to write this, too many interruptions but I am at work. So will try to get back later this week.

HI
Just an update.
Not Japan. I give up.
Well, I need to split hugs all
hey my gossip tank is low - check in ladies!

Hi.
Haven't been on Navy For Moms in a long time.
Our son is an RN on Okinawa. He's been there 1 yr...1 yr down, 1 yr to go.
It's been a rough year for him and us. He just went through a divorce before he deployed. We're doing our bit for our country and are serving as his dog sitters for 2 years. LOL.
Thank you for having me on this board.

T-Lynn- happy that Emma is feeling better!

Howdy Pan Moms!
Hugs and loves

Thank you Mississippi Mom. After our son finishes in Oki (rules say I can't say where he's going), but we might be caring for his dog another 2 years? She's a lab and is 8 yrs old. Not sure their life span?
Yikes, Wendy, can't believe your son took his dogs with him. Did he have to keep them in quarantine until the government said they were healthy to integrate into the population?
Everyone have a restful Labor Day weekend.

Enjoy your weekend, Navy Mom Hugs

Henry's Mom

Thanks in advance!

HI
Welcome about New Moms!
Need to split - hugs all

1st.
Gotta run, Hope you all have a Fantastic day

HI
Good day Navy mom Hugs !!!!
Hugs

Hope everyone is doing well.

Hi
Emma loves here her day care and Riker is really into Cub Scouting.
chat later hugs

Hey gotta go. just wanted to say Thanks and update you.
take care

Hi All
Blondie, what events you and your family have been through.
Need to get along here. Hugs all

Gotta run.

Hope all is well. Take care everyone!

HI
The Laundry Fairy - she moved in.

up date on my CRAZY life!

I think I've lost it. LOL

Hi All.
Oh Blondie - you are a blessing

Thanks

Good Morning Ladies.
Any Suggestions ladies?

Take care and stay safe to each of you.

Henry's Mom and all:

Chris, Forever Ray's Proud Mom
cont'd...I had to cut and paste the remainder of my life story, didn't realize I went over 4000 characters!----
My daughter is in a seemingly good relationship now.

Hi
Talk about answering a Roll Call !!! Thank you.
Hugs
