Made it back to the computer for some Me Time and yes, my gossip tank is low again. But Blondie - great start of filling it up!
Blondie - I am so glad you and hubby your weekend!. It sounded wonderful and best of all - I love how you cooked all those special things for your family Christmas! I have made a note to myself - copy Blondie's idea and go to Amish country to get baked goods - then go and purchase cheese balls and wine - but drink some wine first! Got it.
Christmas here was quiet and I was happy about that. I needed it to rest up for I am doing more now with my knee in therapy. I am happy to say - I am way ahead in doing motions than other replacement knee patients. All I can say - I was blessed and I say thank you. So now I am back to driving, grocery shopping and fingers crossed that my right knee can be done in February. Yes, that is early but that right knee is not hold well at times. But if I do get it done - I will have a match set!
Ok as I promised, please remember my words: I am ok and so is the house.
About 2 weekends before Christmas, my grandson was upset I did not put any decorations. And that was just wrong. So I gave in - he came down and help me decorate some. Well, it was now evening and I only had my nativity to put up. It is very special to me. My daddy purchased it for me at the Ben Franklin 5 and Dime. I was 7 years old and in second grade. Well, each statue I have for the set is wrapped in Christmas napkins because they are thicker and I felt safe for the statues to be in. I had the set up - unwrapping the each statue and when i had unwrapped the 10th one - suddenly there was this bright flash of light and I felt heat too.
Sit down now ladies- Iooked to the right to see the pile of napkins on fire! And the flames were about 15 inches high - and about 3 inches from the 60 year old carboard navtivity - with old fashion tinsel on it. I started screaming : "Help - help - fire Fire".
Ok - here is the scene - me screaming for help - smoke detector with the NEW batteries in it and I was almost right under it - didn't go off. Adult kids had invited friends over with their 2 kids. So Adult kids in kitchen - above me - laughing and talking - no they did not hear me. Why? The grandkids all 4 of them were louder than their parents. Hubby was in teh back storage and didn't hear me until the second time I screamed for help.
But by then - I realized - no one was coming. I heard the words: " Pick up teh pile of fire from underneath." So I did. I carried teh fire and burning napkins to the bathroom sink.
I walked 10 steps to the bathroom sink - with out stretched arms so my t-shirt would not catch fire. I walked without my cane too. I dropped that pile of flames into the sink and turned on the water. by the way - as I walking to the bathroom with fire - did you know fire can walk? I didn't until I saw it walk up my left index finger! Yes - walk - like with legs!!!
Now - hubby had heard me scream fire the second time and came running out of the storage room with a tin lid. He figured that scented candle I had burning had caught something on fire. So he was going to put it out! Except - he could not find any fire at all. That scented candle - I blew out. No smoke in teh room and no smoke detector going off. No burn marks on teh counter where the fire had been. And mostly - he didn't see me!
He finally heard me sigh and came to the bathroom door. and saw teh fire in teh sink and finished putting it out. Now I was not scared - I was angry - NO ONE HEARD ME ?
REALLY ?????
And the reason he didn't see me - as I turned into the bathroom - he came out of the storage room and ran pass me in the bathroom. Sounds like a comedy show I know, but it happened. We figured that one of teh napkins I was piling had touched that burning scented candle and it took off in a flash.
Now my finger - no redness - no burn - no blister. But I know it was burnt - I felt teh hurt ! So I soak my finger for hours in ice water. And after 5 hours of that - not even a mark on my fire. It was like it never happened.
Well, of any of you are thinking about gifts for me - marked scented candles off you list .
Ugg did it again! Wrote a long reply and lost it. hmmm
SO GLAD you're okay! What an experience. I did sit down but then Jumped back up. LOL Don't know how I thought I was gonna help you. I knew this was earlier and that you were fine but instinct kicked in. LOL Get yourself a fog horn! or intercom geez! Yes, fire walks, it also could have lost pieces as you walked, blown into your face, the whole basement could have gone up! SO GLAD, you don't know how Happy I am Everything turned out okay.
We were snowed in and blizzard conditions from last Thur. until Sunday. Hubby followed me home from work @ 7pm Thur. night and we stayed put! No plows all day Fri. couldn't see to plow. Sat. night just before Church they plowed BUT we were still on a Level 3 and it could blow back shut before we even made it to Church , leave alone back home. So we stayed put. Sun. they plowed us out and we made it to Christmas Mass. Today (Thur.) Our tempts. hit 52! WE are staying home this weekend too! Everyone is sick, snows melting, flooding....No way I'll stay in with Hubby. :)
We did lose water in Kitchen, boy was it COLD! Didn't get above Zero for 3 days and wind chills were minus 34. Hubby lost his TV, it just died no picture, then the sound went... Bought him a new one yesterday. Merry Christmas! I got a massage and went to the doctor, BP again. too much stress. Ex-Navy girl stranded in airport for 26 hours....But everyone SURVIVED.
Giggling Blondie - I can see you jumping up too. great ideas - a fog horn. Put it my my birthday list.
Yes, that was some weather - glad you too have things back to normal at your place. (Gee, did I really say back to normal at Blondies? Does any Pan Mom know what that is at Blondies? ) We hit 56 today !!! And this weekend going back down . Wow.
T-Lynn, you are going to have to start a book. It should start with your Thanksgiving Turkey story, and then add your burning napkin story. I am so thankful that you and your family are all okay, but I would be lying if I said that I didn't chuckle a little bit. You paint a very vivid picture and I could see you on the move with that new knee! I am also so very proud of you with all of that progress at therapy. You are a very driven person.
Blondie I was thinking of you and all of the Northern Navy Moms during all of that weather. It was 0 here in the South and with that wind, it was brutal. Hubs went to the shop and worked on Friday, I didn't get out of the garage. I was having to coax our little dog outside. I did visit my 2 aunts on Saturday and gave them Christmas happies. Our daughter flew in from Phoenix on Monday night about midnight. We had a long day, and the airport that she flies into so she can have a direct flight, is a 2 hour drive. We also got snow that day, so the roads were a little icy in places, but we made it fine. While she was home, it was non-stop, but we loved every minute of it. We took her back to the airport Friday. She had to be there at 5:30 a.m. After we got home, I had big plans, but hubs and I both ended up taking a 2 hour nap (something I never do), and then got up and worked a while in the house, hubs worked in the shop. He came in to rest and kicked back in the recliner and I did too, so we both took another nap. I think we were both just absolutely exhausted.
I worked Saturday taking down my tree, made a dent in the other decorations, but then the bowl games got me. I came home from church yesterday and worked a while taking down the rest of the decorations in the house, but decided it was too warm and pretty so I went outside and rolled up all of the extension cords, and got the decorations down from the front porch. All I lack on the outside is lights in the trees, and I can do that anytime. You can't see them from the street, so I am not worried about those. I did finish taking every thing down inside, just haven't got it all back to the basement. Hopefully I will get that done tonight. I am back at work today, and it has been one of those "hurry up and wait days". Most people took today as a holiday, so nobody else is working. We are making progress here, but it is slow.
I am glad you got a giggle Miss. I laugh too. But mostly my family just said: " Sounds like something you would do." and No More candles!" I just realized - no more candles - I won't age !! No candles on my birthday cake - I'm stuck at 67.
You are stating to sound like blondie - " Hurry and wait" and " I have to cook, decorate, work and get a nap in there somewhere". Take those naps and enjoy
Today has been busy here. And the weather is not nice. Damp, rain, and cold. so my knee hates me. It swelled up for therapy. And my right knee is doing totally copy sympathy pains. I am not kidding. It copies what the left does. Even pain at 11 pm and again at 2 o 3 AM. Trying hard to keep moving forward so the right one can be fixed too.
Sailor was hoe for his grandmother's Serrano's funeral.. Vic's mom passed quietly. then sailor had to fly back on that Wednesday when the computer had it hiccup all over the 48 states. His flight was delayed 4 hours - and when that flight finally reached the connecting flight - well that connecting flight took off as he was landing in the delayed flight. But the airlines said no worried - you are booked on the Friday 10:30 Pm flight. Sailor said no good. , so they then moved him to teh Thursady 1 PM flight. Sailor then took out his military ID. Airlines then stated he coudl be on stand by for a 7 PM flight. And if 5 persons did not show up - he could get on. HE GOT ON IT !! And his luggage made it too.
Now today - I had both grandkids - no school or day care. Then hubby gets home and shares that he will not be working for at least 2 weeks or longer. Why you ask? Because his boss went in for a check up on his heart and that boss was placed in the hospital ! Tomorrow that boss get a pacemaker! And that same boss forgot to sigh the paper work for Victor to sigh off on any work coming and going from teh business. So now work. And if that boss cannot come back to work - the boss is in his 80's - the boss's kids take over and the business is gone. Its Monday! Keep you posted on how things go.
Hi ladies! Trying to get to know you all by reading the posts. My son is due to land in Japan in a month or two. I am trying to understand things he will need to know.
He's shipping a computer to himself. I am wondering if the power is the same. 110V? or does he need a line conditioner? Does he need converters?
Will his US based phone work there? or should he just get one in japan? He's supposed to be there for 2-3 years. He's currently on my phone plan but we can get his suspended due to the stationing overseas if we want to- that's what I am trying to find out.
As an E5 he's under the impression he'll get an apartment. Would that be on base or off? He's headed to Atsugi NAS. Still trying to figure out what to get him for Christmas, which we will celebrate when he arrives here after his training....but don't want to load him down for his travels, so will likely ship anything he'll need.
Any ideas that you have will help me understand. He's been to Japan for a week layover while heading to Diego Garcia, loved it and is happy to be stationed there. I'm just trying to understand what we can get him to make his life there easier.
Thanks for your help.
T-Lynn, maybe your husband's boss can sign some paperwork after the pacemaker installation IF he's allowed to do so? Especially since he's the owner? A friend of mine just got one inserted and has been doing well after a bit of recovery. It's just not a fast one.
You are doing better than me with the removal of Christmas decorations. Mine are still up all over. My goal is to get them down by the end of the month, else they'll be Valentine's decor too.
Our weather has been the same up and down. More rain then snow, then it freezes. Oh well. Luckily our snow melted slowly, no flooding. And no major shoveling, I'm calling it a Win so far.
Miss and T-Lynn glad you got to see your Sailors! And everyone made it back safely. T-Lynn Sorry for your family's loss.
Henry's Mom, He'll need to get a phone over there, the base should have them. Yes, as a E5 he'll most likely live off base. My daughter was there for 3 years and LOVED it. We visited for 2 weeks and fell in Love with it also. Very Clean and Friendly.
Finally got all my decorations put away also. Had to we celebrated Christmas this past weekend with my kids and my siblings and Dad. Friday Hubby went and got Connor, Boy has he gotten BIG (tall). Big breakfast with daughter, SIL and 2 grandkids arriving and Hubby's sister. Dogs Loving all the attention! Lunch was with all my siblings and their families. 30 of us I think. Lots of noise! Came home around 4 and made supper for my Son and his girlfriend and Connor. Connor was asleep by 8pm. LOL Sunday morning Church, groceries, Lunch and then packed Connor up and took him to his Dads. Ended up taking them out for supper didn't get home until after 7pm.
Laundry, dishes, shower and bed. Monday came way to fast and early! Hubby didn't get home until after 8pm last night. Wonder what tonight will bring???? Dogs are all wired up, not sure what to think. Too many days at home and people in and out.
I think we're staying home this weekend.
Time to close up the clinic and do books so I can head home.
After listening to all the life stories, I'm glad I didn't decorate this year (although to say I've decorated in the past few years would be stretching it also.) I lost the incentive after a few years in FL due to many factors-warmer weather, no grandkids, storage in the house "encouraged" me to give most of decorations to my daughter who lives in town and loves to decorate. I go there. But, this year, Mom, who lives with us for the last 2 yr, got sick while traveling back to OH for a funeral. RSV took her for a ride, and not a fun one. So I just put the few decorations that she put up in her space away.
Henry's Mom, send your son with as much as you can! The cost to mail is extraordinary. With his military ID he can take additional luggage on the flights. If he has orders, he can take 5 sea bags, if I'm not mistaken. That is what my son has said. He will love Japan. My advice to him is to take time away to see as much of the country as he can, My son saw most, but regretted he only saw the Northern part for the winter festival that is held there. Also, look up what is "unique" to the various areas for tokens to bring home. I say tokens, but they are not always inexpensive. Another tip my son had was to shop around, don't buy from the tourist shops as much as possible. Brown sugar from Okinawa is amazing. Japanese mayo is different from here as well. The only other hint I want to share is my son learned minimal Japanese to get around, travel, shop a bit, but realized he could have done more if he had learned more of the language. O-and try to visit if you are able. My husband went and they climbed Mt Fuji, not a winter sport, and my daughter and I went during cherry blossom season. That is timing as well.
T-Lynn--OMG ROFL. Glad all ended well, and hope your knee is no worse for wear. and I agree, there should be a Navy Mom book with all the issues we face, but it would be a never ending story and that title is taken...
Gotta run for now, Mom headed into 3rd week in hospital and have to stay on top of staff to get things done. (That's why Im an OR nurse btw. A bad day in surgery is better than a good day on the floor.) I tried to stay just a daughter, but when I asked for results of tests done, the response was "Doesn't she have a my ****chart?" You can see results there sometimes faster. DANG!!!
I do hope to travel to see at least most of you here. I would love to meet. Mom and I are supposed to be taking a cruise in Sept that Leaves NY, stops in Boston, and Portland, (I think) and several Canadian ports ending in Quebec. But y'all ore on my bucket list.
Also, don't get worried on how Blondie accomplishes so much. Honest - its her life style. She has more energy that the Energizer Bunny. If she really slowed down - we all here would be worrying ! But hey blondie - do make some me time.
About things your sailor might need: Its winter - LONG JOHNS ! From teh USA. Why? We have the sizes that fit our sailors. A large in Japan is not a Large to USA size ! also, do your sailors have their passports. Honest - those things are so needed. Help them get it if they don't.
When it comes to packing those boxes, we learn to stuff every corner, pant leg, socks with stuff. And to mail a month before the holiday. If you want to mail cookies - ask Blondie - she is the pro.
Otherwise doing fine here. Cleaning - chasing teh grandkids. And now I am becoming an Assistant Wolf Den Leader for my grandson. The last time I did that was in the 1980's ! Just can't get out of it.
This is one picture was taken by a Pentagon Newspaper . The ship the USS patriot was being inspected. The sailor at the helm is my sailor. My sailor is now a Petty Officer.
At least driving this ship - he won't get a speeding ticket.
Chris, I wished I'd known you were coming to Ohio. I live in Northern Ohio. Sorry your Mom is ill, 3 weeks in hospital is Wow! Prayers going up. After our Sailor left (2007) Until we had Grandkids (2011) we didn't decorate either. Now it's hit or miss, if we're gonna be home we do a little, if the kids will be here we do alot! lol (PRIORITIES)
T-Lynn always enjoy the pictures. The reasons I don't slow down: 1) I can't life is crazy busy and meant to be LIVED 2) afraid if I slowed down or stopped I might not get started again! and 3) so many people depend on me.
When shipping to any foreign country check the restricted list!
Finally going to see those Grandbabies this weekend!
Next weekend taking my husband to a dinner/comedy night. Does that count as me time? I might even shave my legs! LOL On the 13th taking off half a day and taking the dogs to be groomed. Probably not me time. Did you ever try lifting a 98 # dog up on stand while a 93# dog is barking and trying to get your attention? I usually come home wet and very hairy! but enjoy Loving and Cuddling the sweet-smelling boys for weeks afterwards.
Ex-Sailor in TX is seeing Ohio weather, I have to chuckle. Tahlia is loving, No School! Except Nana's not here!!! :)
Hubby says, it's a WE time! Shaving is optional. LOL
it's a dress up and leave home date night. hors d'oeuvre at 5:30, Supper at 6 and comedian at 7:00. Unless the weather warms up ALOT even if I wear a dress I'll have leggins on under it. But I always feel more adult/grown up/Fancy if I shave my legs.
Leaving for Columbus in 1 hour and 17 mins! Can't wait to see those Grandbabies, it's been 3 weeks! Talked to Tahlia last night, she wanted to know what my tag said. hmm I'll be watching the mail box closely. Call lasted 2 mins. and 14 seconds. LOL She got her answers and said, Okay goodbye!
Hope you all have a Sunshine weekend and lots of hugs. Our high is 15 today with wind chills below zero But I know my HUGS will warm me up!
You ladies have been busy. I have been keeping up reading but not responding.
First. I hope none of you live close to that train derailment in Ohio/Pittsburgh. That sure is scary. Please check in Ohio moms.
I live near Philadelphia. Still a little bummed about the super bowl results.
My husband has been in Florida for the month with my sister and another couple. We rented a house. I fly down Saturday and will drive back with them. Chris, I sent you a friend request so I can send you a message.
Today my son has his MRI and I drive down to Maryland tomorrow to get the results. Please say a prayer.
Work has been really hectic the last two months. It's almost time to hang up my hat. I sure can use this 2 week break. Everyone needs to post an update so I have reading material on the plane.
Kim, praying for great results for your son. I am so glad you are heading to Florida! I hope you have a great time and lots of R & R. I understand exactly what you mean about “hanging it up”. I just told my hubby that I am totally enjoying being off. I do have a job prospect, but it will not be full time until late summer. I am tackling some projects that I have been putting off forever. My sister and husband thinks I will be a hermit by the end of the summer. LOL!
TLynn, sounds like a fun Valentine’s Day for you and hubs. We went out for lunch and had a great time.
It has turned cold in the South! It was 75 this week and I was loving it. We had some spitting snow this morning. I am so ready for Spring!
Oh Kim - how good to hear from you. I too hope for the BEST MRI results. And that you are having the a wonderful fun/restful vacation !!!! Hugs.
Miss - i thought you were retired? I must have missed something in a communication. But I have been doing that of late. Seems what I read and what my brain decodes has been two very different things. I blame it on the weather. If I blame my age - I'll have to admit getting old and not maintaining that I am a Recycled Teenager.
BTW, I am officially 68 now. BD was 2-23-23. And I had dinner out with a free dessert. And gambled! I won and I lost, but what fun!!!
Glad your weather is better Miss - it is cold - damp - and an over cast of gray - STILL ! Its been weeks of this. Kinda dulls one's spirits. But the Spring birds are flying in and there have been 4 different species of birds checking out the nest in the Maple tree near our deck. Spring is here - just need to feel and see it.
Good news form sailor - he has moved into the Officers Bachelor's Barracks, so he is saving money now. But no letter from step granddaughter stationed in Pensicola. I know she must be busy - so I should write her.
Otherwise doing good with new knee - I see another doctor on March 31st to see about he right knee. Just think I will could have matching new knees soon. Then I can really mess with those x-rays units at the airports!
Need to get - still have things to get done before grandson gets home from school.
Miss, if you get all your projects done come this way, I have Plenty of projects.
T-Lynn, Glad to hear you had a Wonderful Birthday and that you're doing so good with that new knee. Praying the other one is Soon and just as quick a recovery. Congrats to Son.
Our weather is on a 3 day rotation and NOT a good one. More rain then snow this winter, we'll get a good sunny day about once a week then the winds come and the temps. dropped and UGGG YUCK!
Texas family is Finally communicating more. Talked to daughter for 2 hours and 15 mins. last Saturday, just like old times! Tahlia sent me a voice mail about broke my heart. Nana, I MISS you and Want you to walk through my door right now! (with all the drama too, even stomped her foot.) LOL and then she says, oh well, it was worth a try, I LOOVE you Nana. I sent a package out for her on Monday, so can't wait till she gets it. I miss that girl something fierce. Sadly all her long weekends are spent with her Dad. And he gets her for her birthday. We had discussed flying out for the weekend, now we'll have to try for after her birthday. So hard with both of us still working. Boss is taking off Memorial day weekend BUT she'll be with her Dad. We might just have to wait till the 4th of July :( Might get to see my other 2 earlier then I thought. (YEAH) Also adding 3 more! Connor's Dad is marrying a nice lady with 3 kids, helping them move into their house this weekend. Also going to a Baby shower for a nephew/Godson another Great-Niece is on the way!!! Jane (adopted daughter) is due in late April and Sara (adopted daughter) is do in early May both are waiting to see what God Blesses us with.
I think that is all for now, Office is humming, I have 3 practitioners in today. So, I'll say Bye for now
Blonde, if I get all of mine done, I will head your way! You would fire me, cause you would be running circles around me! Excited for you and all of your expectant grands! You may have to share some with me. I hope you get to make that trip to Texas soon. She will be happy to get your package, I’m sure. Please say a prayer for my oldest sister. She fell last week in her yard on some concrete steps and cracked her shoulder and broke 3 bones in her wrist. She is going back to Dr. tomorrow. I am going to help her get dressed to go. Bless her heart, she is really bummed that she is going to be down for 6 weeks. She loves working in her yard.
T-Lynn, Happy Birthday! Sounds like a fun day! I am just taking a small break, and am planning on going back to work. I am trying to get some things done here at home before I start a new job. Also, we are planning a trip out West to see our daughter and son-in-law. We like to take about 2 weeks. We had some storms last night and are expecting more tonight. We didn’t have any damage, just lightening, wind, and mega rain. My son had lightning to run in to his TV and security system. He said that the lightening hit a tree in his neighbor’s yard and caused his damage. Hubs told him yo be thankful that it didn’t hit all of of their appliances. I hope all of you are well. Will try to send a picture of one of my projects.
This was my hubby’s gun cabinet that was no longer in use. I painted it, got new glass cut and whaaalaah, I now have a quilt storage cabinet. Most of these quilts are my Moms, with the exception of a couple that were my Grandmother’s and one that my Great-Grandmother pieced for me. Some of these are older than I am. I am so happy that these are displayed and no longer in closets.
Blondie - congrats two my grandbaby girls !!!!! Those babies are going to be loved. And Congrats to Connor's dad and new family. Looking forward to hearing about your trip to Texas!!! what a darling - she even stamped her foot!!!
How beautiful - Miss !!! those ae loving quilts. And I would have never knew that was a gun closet. Sending Reiki to to your sister and if its ok a healing spell this evening too. The Moon is going full and the best time to ask for help.
Here we have a sunny day - wow is that rare! And we have robins too!! so Spring is coming.
wish I had some gossip - but i know I will get some soon.
Need to get along - I have a Have to List that I HAVE to start.
Ohio is back to it's normal spring. Rain, ice pellets and snow all within 6 hours and then 82 the next day! a couple rainy days in the low 50's and this morning 33 with snow and now hail.
Allergies are running rapid! Spring colds and sinus infections...
Hoping to get Tahlia for the whole week of Memorial Day!!!! Still waiting on her Dad to decide. Daughter is heading to London for work. Beyond Excited but Hubby keeps warning, Joe has a habit of changing his mind at the last minute just to make things difficult. :(
I TOLD Daughter give him a deadline. She responded he's aloud once a month, but we shouldn't have to wait all month to see what he does! MAKE a schedule! If he takes her for this week tho, it counts as 1 of his summer visits.... UGGG, Now we wait and see.
My news is hard. My hubby has been critical ill for 3 weeks
He coded blue on May 24th. But he turned around and now can sit up - walk - eat and best of all talk with me.
But he is still in the hospital. more test are needed. When I have time I will explain more - Just my Pan Moms hugs and positive vibes sent to my hubby
T Lynn, sending you many hugs and lots of prayers for your hubby. So happy happy he is better, and prayers for the Doctors to figure it all out. Lots of love, sweet lady. Please keep us posted.
When I have time - I promise to share details. It just has been unbelievable what all happened. almost last him twice , but those doctors didn't give up and either did my hubby.
so hugs to all
And thank you for the hugs and prayers - and the Blue Candle Blondie - it worked. hugs
Blondie a Freeze? Did you any newly planted pants die? How odd of weather.
Hi Well, I made Me Time so I could get back on her and share the REAL to Life Soap opera I had. Right now, my hubby is doing better. Getting stronger, but its going to take time and I have to remind him of that. He missed shooting at the club, but I am hopeful by August he can start up again. The black powder rifle he uses is heavy. good thing - he can use it for physical therapy - lifting and holding in place until the flint lights the powder.
Vic had no symptoms until the day he went into the ER.
April 23rd. Vic had been to a Cub Scout "Clean Up the Bike Path". Its an Annual Spring Community Service Project of pack 418. So Vic and Riker were buddies. they both came home - tired and hungry. Vic ate the left over meal from Friday evening. He then told me he was tired and needed a nap - 1 PM.
By 2 PM the throwing up started every 20 to 25 minutes. This continued every hour until around 9:3- PM - Vic said: "I think I need to get checked." My reaction - had been arguing with him since 3 PM to go to get checked- was Really?" My daughter in law and i took him - we were on our way to a downtown hospital, but Vic said: " Please get me to the nearest hospital, I can't take this ride." Those were his last words that made any since - until May 1st.
He spiked a a fever of 102 and that ER doctor i credit with saving him. He know Vic had an infection, but what? But he did start him on a wide based antibiotic. And fluids - Vic was dehydrated from all the throwing up. But my hubby started not behaving like himself - argued, tried to get off the bed and get out . Finally at 4 AM he was admitted to the ICU. Now his heart was not beating right and too fast. Blood pressure would drop and rise. A breathing was getting hard.
That evening - He was having more trouble breathing and his heart beat was faster, now his stomach was so swollen he looked 9 months pregnant and he got so made he tried to get out of bed .
then April 25th, that early morning the hospital called - have to vent him. Do I give permission? yes 10 minutes later my daughter in law is screaming that the hospital called again - GET there code blue. During that 10 minutes - vic had thrown up water from his stomach as they tried to vent him. They had to pump 3 litters from his stomach - but now he had inhaled the fluids into his lungs and his heart stopped. 10 minutes of CPR.
When I saw him next he was in a coma and his body so swollen and so many IVs. And he had 7 doctors. His organs were shutting down. He had so many blood, urine, stomach cultures and blood test and all results coming back saying he was as healthy as a horse.
That same evening -Alex arrived. navy and Red Cross got him home.
Next day - more test - all saying he was healthy - but now stomach and kidneys lungs failing. All we could do was watch . but that evening Riker - grandson became ill and the doctor was in the room when that phone call came in to daughter in law. That doctor overheard adn told her - get you son here to this ER NOW! riker came in - fever and results - Strep A. Ok antibotics for him. But the results os Riker's test were sent up to Victor's doctor - tested Vic and FOUND Vic had strep A in his skin. One area of his stomach looked a huge rash/hive - the size of a soccer ball. And the skin had spilled , so fluids were seeping out. Finally one strong - CORRECT antibiotic could be given to help fight the infection.
After 4 days - finally they found out what Vic had ingested a parasite - Giardia. Now the correct antibiotic could be given.
His started turning around in 12 hours. And now he was becoming awake. But on Friday April 28thth - the vent was coming out when Vic ;s right lung expelled a huge solid mass of mucus - that blocked his vent . NO AIR and Vic had his lunged suctioned out as he was awake. the doctor put him back into a deep sleep.
The next few weeks I will try to condense. I am feeling shakey now as I type.
Finally on Monday May 1st - vent out. Still all the antibiotics. But awake. but now he had an infection in his lungs and pneumonia. By the end of the week - now bladder infection and a bacteria in the bladder. So more antibiotics. Only thing gone was the Strep A and the Giardia . And the next week, they found a spot on his pancreas - his hemoglobin was dropping and he had to have a blood transfusion.
AFTER ALL THAT - he got better. And he was released on May 13th and home. Best Mother's Day present ever!!!!
i said it was a soap opera or as my dil said: "this is an episode out of the TV series House".
Still at this time - no we have no clue where he got this parasite. Or how the Strep A got into the skin.
Vic is having physical and occupational therapy.. 8 weeks to get his strength back. Maybe he can go back to work - not sure. But we will make it. The thing is - he is here with me.
He has no memory of those 3 weeks. I answer all his questions. He is starting to want to see his friends.
Well here we are to now. Living moment by moment .
I can share two funnies.
When i first saw him after he had been vented - they told me to talk to him - that he would be able to hear me. I knew his subconscious could. So i told him i loved him and that this little episode he is doing is NOT getting him out of our 45th Wedding Anniversary Party. He now says he doesn't remember getting married! Hey, I believe the loss of 3 weeks but not the last 45 years !
And one of the days he came awake for a few minutes, we had a fight! For real - you can even ask teh nurse. He wanted me to release his straps to she could take out he vent , I told him no and that I loved him. then asked him to marry me again. He shook his head no and signaled with his thumbs for me to leave. It took 3 more days before he said he would marry me again. He was in and out of being awake, so we were told to try to keep him thinking. He stills says he doesn't remember getting married.
And he STILL NOT out of having the party !!!
thank you for listening. And teh hugs - I felt them hugs back.
Lilianna turned2! Where did the time go?! We went down last Thur. June 1st (her actual birthday) and stayed 4 days. We put together a outside little tike play house., blew up a new pool with slide and toss games, so many attachments! Got out her water table and filled the family pool. We were Very Busy :) Took her to her 2 year check up and took JoeJoe (Joseph) shopping. We went somewhere else also hmm can't remember. LOL Geez, it's all a blur...I remember we took 1 car so Papa climbed in the 3rd row seating by way of hatch.... We grilled out chicken and corn on the cob, hamburgers another night.... big breakfasts... Had little kids party Sat. afternoon. Sat. night I took my daughter out, just the 2 of us!!! Got our nails done and scheduled another appointment for 3 weeks. for medi/pedis Why not?! Sunday afternoon came home to dogs, yard, garden and laundry. Real life!
Mon. I went back to work and dealt with 104 pts/clients! Each twice, checking them in and checking them out, taking money, rescheduling... Besides answering phones, selling products, posting mail and direct deposits.... I ended up working 11 hours. I remembered to text hubby and tell him I would be late and supper menu so supper was in the oven when I got. home. A couple of shots of Tequila, watered plants and vegged out on the couch. Back to work this morning, I got a lunch today and it's considerably slower this afternoon, I only have 2 practitioners today instead of 3.
These 10 and 11 hour days are Killing me! I'm too old for this.
I did it again, was in a hurry and sprayed my hair with static guard instead of hair spray! At home I keep them in different places but here at work I only have the 1 place :(
My brain just turned on, putting hair spray in bathroom under sink!
Hope Everyone is busy having Fun. Have a Great weekend!
Blondie - Blondie - Blondie As usual - you are making the energizer bunny look bad and the bees are protesting because you are busier than they are! You forgot to share - does the Static Guard work as hair spray?
Kim HI !!!!!!
Retiring - Yippee !!! Enjoy enjoy enjoy !!!
Update on Victor. He should be able to return to work next week. Still will take time for him to regain muscle, but he is trying hard. But still says he can't remember those 3 weeks and tried to say he doesn't remember getting married either. that's a no go ! I got pictures !
Otherwise all good here. Just taking each day as it comes and naturally still in Cub Scout activities. Riker will be going to his 2nd camp and I'll be teaching sessions there too. But for the first time - , I'm feeling this will be my last one. It could be i am just tired form all that has happened. And I do have a second knee surgery in october.
I finally got back on. Had to change that password again. this makes - I forgot how many times . But this site should know all of us by now!
Updates: Hubby is doing well. he is working and shooting his black powder rifles again. Not hitting target like he would like, but he can hold the rifle up. We had a Rendezvous Saturday. Not many people showed up ,but those of us who did had a great time. Grandson had blast! he even warned the others that the clay oven's bottom platform had caught fire. He smelled the smoke and found the fire and came running. then a very dear friend who is a Master Stinging Nettle weaver came. He is now legally blind and a friend of his brought him out. I had offered to get him, but he said he was going to the Milton Rendezvous in Wisconsin - same weekend. It was so good to see him and get hugs. Plus, I brought my nettle weaving I was doing and he said I was doing a good job. Our grandson went along and he had a blast. He even sounded the warning that the base of the clay oven had caught on fire! Later, I won the lace parasol . Been trying for 3 years to win one too.
Rain here, so this tells me Autumn is approaching. Have all my Halloween decorations up too. And now counting the days to the next knee surgery - October 3rd.
Plus I have to get over what granddaughter shared from day care. She gave it to her brother - then mommy - then daddy - now me! Soar throat to VERY sore throat. Either chills or fever or both.. Best friends with toilet and coughing. wonderful At least my hugs are safe to share here
Heard from sailor, he will be attending a family event on the USS Washington later this September. His stepdaughter joined the navy and is stationed there. She called him to please come out. He is and in uniform too. I'll share the gossip.
T-Lynn
Hi
Dec 28, 2022
T-Lynn
part 2:
And who has teh next story?
chat later hugs

Bought him a new one yesterday. Merry Christmas! I got a massage and went to the doctor, BP again. too much stress. Ex-Navy girl stranded in airport for 26 hours....But everyone SURVIVED.

Happy New Year to all!

T-Lynn
Happy New Year all.

Part 2
Now today - I had both grandkids - no school or day care. Then hubby gets home and shares that he will not be working for at least 2 weeks or longer. Why you ask? Because his boss went in for a check up on his heart and that boss was placed in the hospital ! Tomorrow that boss get a pacemaker! And that same boss forgot to sigh the paper work for Victor to sigh off on any work coming and going from teh business. So now work. And if that boss cannot come back to work - the boss is in his 80's - the boss's kids take over and the business is gone. Its Monday! Keep you posted on how things go.
Well, hugs all Happy New Year too

Henry's Mom
Happy New Year!

Blondie

Chris, Forever Ray's Proud Mom
Hi All,
After listening to all the life stories, I'm glad I didn't decorate this year (although to say I've decorated in the past few years would be stretching it also.) I lost the incentive after a few years in FL due to many factors-warmer weather, no grandkids, storage in the house "encouraged" me to give most of decorations to my daughter who lives in town and loves to decorate.

HI
No worries, have not lit any candles - all safe.
And for the new Moms - HI and welcome aboard.
Sorry this is short - have to finish dinner hugs

Getting too busy here gotta sign off for now.

Blondie - if you have to share your legs - Its Me Time Date!
But if it was just you and tv and snacks and Wine - no shaving is required.
And we all here know that there is no way you would slow down. Except our new Moms. Its in your genes, there is no slow gene in your body!
take care hugs
And hugs to all

HI !!!!!!
Hugs.
Sending positive vibes - Hugs

Kim, hope all is well with your son.

Gotta run, at work and phone won't stop ringing!

I knew I could be here and feel the hugs. Thank you
I hope to be back on soon. I need time to get his physical and occupational therapies set up. And still blood tests to keep an eye on his hemoglobin.
I still can't believe what happened. It is right out of a soap opera. At least like the TV series - it had a happy ending.
Wish all a good week hugs

He had so many blood, urine, stomach cultures and blood test and all results coming back saying he was as healthy as a horse.

part 2
He is starting to want to see his friends.

part 3

Wow! So glad it has a Happy Ending!
Starting my count down to VA Beach!!!

HI
Hey need to go. I need hot tea. hugs
