Was proud and encouraged it
The Navy offers opportunities that...
I am very proud of my son. He will graduated boot camp the 19th. He is a Mechanical Engineer already graduating Ohio Northern and will be going into the Navy Nuclear Engineering program.
Good Morning Kimber, Thank you for the friend request. We live in the Chicago suburbs so you will be coming to my neck of the woods for PIR. Friday is supposed to be cloudy and 59 degrees. When your sailor gets to Goose Creek he will get assigned his room and given his INDOC (indoctrination) address. INDOC usually lasts 1-2 weeks and then they "class up" and the work begins!! I have a couple of great pictures of the barracks. Private message me your email address and I'll send them to you. If you think of questions, don't hesitate to ask. Again welcome. Pat
Kimber, Sent you 2 pictures. Looks nice, doesn't it? We were at GC in Nov. for Jeff's graduation from Power School. Advice for Thomas??....don't get behind. When they have mandatory study hours (ALL studying is done in the classroom building) in the evening, there are instructors there to help. If he needs help, ASK!! Hope you like the pics!!
Kimber, Welcome to Chicago! You are going to have such an amazing experience tomorrow! Be sure to take a bunch of kleenex! And give your sailor a big hug from me and thank him for his service. Pat
While driving through Indiana on the way back Thomas called. They were dropped off at the airport at 0300 They were to the USO and slept about 4 hours. Their flight left for South Carolina at about 3:40pm I hope they made it safely. I just got home in southeast Ohio. Blessings to all of you ~
Hi Kimber, PIR was pretty impressive, wasn't it? Sorry about our Chicago weather, sometimes it is just the pits. Well, Thomas should be settling into his room by now. He will really appreciate things being a little more relaxed than basic. Now he should have 1 or 2 weeks of INDOC (indoctrination) before they class up and start hitting those books!! So glad you had a good time and are home safely. Talk to you soon. Pat
Hope you get to make your road trip! It's great. I'm close to St. Louis if you need a stop over place. My ice tea is northern tea (not sweetened--lol!) YOu will love the Charelston area if you have never been there before!
Here's the BEQ where your nukes live at first. Remember this is almost 2 years old, and the reference to the books is because all the guys read them to have something to talk about with the gals when they were in town. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEQkn6gKC8k&feature=channel
Hi Kimber, Just wanted to say hi. I've been really busy and am catching up with friends. How's your sailor liking Goose Creek? My sailor is in Prototype and had a 4 day weekend so he came home last Thursday nite. We had a great time just hanging out with family and friends. He flew back on Mon. and I always feel a little down for a couple of days when he leaves. Hope all is good with you. Pat
I haven't been on in a while. I am dealing with my older son who has Thyroid Tumors. He just had a second Ultrasound and will be scheduled for a Biopsy. To update you with Thomas... I was down in Goose Creek over Memorial Weekend. We had such a good time. Thomas is looking good. He has dropped more weight and is down to HS weight when he played Football. He took us to Patriot's Point which was awesome. I would recommend everyone visit. The Medal of Honor museum is awesome.
I got a call from Thomas. My phone rings Anchors Aweigh ;) He graduates this coming Friday with honors from A School. He has applied to OCS and waits to hear on that. He will next begin Power school but I don't know when it will start. I would like to go down for his graduation but he said A school is not that big of deal. Thomas has a Birthday July 15th and I want to surprise him somehow.
