I am single Mom of two wonderful children. My daughter Morgan will be leaving July 13, 2010 for basic training and I am going to miss her dearly. We are more than Mother and Daughter, she is my best friend.
I am a senior buyer / planner in Dublin California and love my job. I enjoy singing, swimming, fishing and playing stupid games on facebook LOL.

Morgans Mom,
Hello!! I see you found our group Moms of Daughters 2 and I want to welcome you. We are a friendly, caring, supportive group of moms who are willing to listen, share, and help each other out!! Please feel free to jump in and join our chats - we are looking forward to getting to know you and your sailor!! If you have any questions please feel free to ask - we learn from asking!!!
I do want to talk to you about your daughter's choice of rates tho'. My daughter is a PS and is very unhappy. The rate is being turned over to civilians and is terribly overmanned. She has passed the test for E4 twice but cannot advance. I would seriously suggest your daughter talk to her recruiter about switching rates BEFORE she signs those final papers at MEPS. Send me a message if you want to talk to me about this, or if you have any questions. But again, Welcome Aboard Navy Mom!!!
Morgans Mom,
From what I hear from my daughter all PSs are encouraged to pick a rate to cross train to. I have read a few articles in the Navy Times also about the advancement opportunities for PS and they also always say to pick a rate to change to. They are eventually turning the entire PS rate over to civilian jobs. My daughter is even working on the process to put all service records on the computer servers and sailors will be able to access all their own records on-line. If you go to NavyTimes online, should be able to research some of the articles about the PS rate future. I really don't understand why any recruiter would put a new sailor in this rate. I know they don't always have the info detailers do but that info should be passed down to the recuiters. I don't mean to cause great concern to you and your daughter but I would feel really bad if I knew someone was going in at this rate and I didn't say something. Let me know if I can help you with any other info on this.
It is so good to meet you. Morgan sounds excited about leaving. I think it is always worse on the parents. I know it was a lot worse on my mom when I went to BC than it was on me. Bri is excited but ready to get the leaving part over with so she can get on with her life in the Navy. I hope Bri and Morgan will become good friends.
I'm a single mom too, divorced 8 years. My son is an only, and the sound of an empty nest is deafening! Dogs do help! So excited @ the graduation. I'm kind of slow these days -just broke my wrist this past week. Yesterday was a flurry of planning.
Hello, Sorry it took so long to reply to you, I'm kind of slow at this things. My daughter left for BC on July 13 also, I got a call last Saturday July 13th, only an 8 min call. She sounded very upbeat. How about you any calls yet?
Comment by junjens (DIV 291 PIR 9-2) 1 hour ago Delete Comment Mary-ship, I have tennis elbow and whenever it acts up I do these EASY excercises and all is good. Your daughter probably has been told this, but you could print them off and mail them to her too! Here is the link: http://www.hughston.com/hha/a.seven.htm
