I think the initial breakup was because Jesse felt he could not make a committment to her because of his committment to the Navy. He has to really concentrate on getting his wings and that will take two years. I think the final straw came from his trying to persuade her to go officer instead of enlisted. I truly understand both sides of this argument and Jesse sees her potential; and, as enlisted, they cannot fraternize or have a relationship.  You never know what the future holds and I do believe that Jesse cares a great deal for Natasha. I only hope the best for her.

Thank you for the friend request.  I'm brand new to this site.  My son swore into the Navy back in May and he leaves for boot camp on Thursday.  Needless to say, I'm pretty emotional right now.  I am looking for support here to help me get through his leaving.  I am very proud of him! But of course, I will miss him a great deal. I look forward to getting to know you and other friends on here.

I appreciate the friend request.  My son was in college the past two years, and when he first mentioned Navy, I pretty much ignored it.  However, his interest became more of a passion and now we are proud and can support his decision.  It is still very difficult.  I look forward to travelling this journey with you and the rest of the navy moms.

Hi, I noticed you wrote that your daughter left on Tuesday Oct. 6th? Is that correct? My son left on the same day out of the San Jose airport. It was all a bit overwhelming. He text me this web site so I  am trying to figure it all out. So far it looks like many questions get answered by all. Now the biggest question is figuring out when they have graduation from boot camp. I guess I have to wait for the letter. It's going to be crazy around the holiday..

Thanks for the invite and nice to meet you.  Looking through the other notes, I think I may be the oldest one here......Son has been in the USN since 1989.  His accomplishments have been unbelieveable and I couldn't be prouder!  Hope to meet other moms/family members through this group as we certainly are here for each other.  Keep in touch......

I called my sons recruiter he was able to look it up and give me the address and the ship & div. he is in, so you might want to try that and start writing. My recruiter also told me he can receive letters now... Not sure if that is true? He said they get mail on Sunday's and are allowed to write on Sunday's and expect letters to arrive to me on Wed. or Thursdays.  The call I received was short & sweet just as I read from other moms. "THe Call"  I know we were told if they had a cell phone with them that first eve, he would use that to call me if not they needed a calling card to use the pay phone. I sent one with him just in case. I'm not sure if he will need it for the call he said he would make to me in 3 weeks. I think he's covered.  Ifound a video that shows what the recruits go through at boot camp it was great to see and eased my mind that it was all ok. It began with the airport pick up, did you see it?

There is a lot of chatter on Navy for Mom's group today on what to mail and preaddressed envelopes etc. to save them time. FYI

Hi, thank you for inviting me to be a friend.  My daughter's boyfriend (now her fiance), with whom we are very close, left for boot camp in June 2011, he is now on a ship in the Arabian peninsula. I really believe that boot camp may be harder on the Moms at home than on the recruits.  Just before PIR the sailor recruits go through their final test, Battle Stations 21.  We at home, worried, prayed, had stomach aches, and lit blue candles, but when it was over he called and said it was really fun! And they got to eat pizza after the test!   Boot camp is demanding, both physically and mentally, but being home and not knowing what's going on seems even harder. Navy for Moms is the very best place to find information about everything Navy; from what color envelopes to use when sending letters (white is best, not yellow or your nick name may become "buttercup") to what to wear to PIR (graduation).  Also, know that you are never alone with your stress or your joys.

Hi! My daughter left for bc on oct 4. I received her box & the form letter. She wrote a short note on the back. She says it's already really hard & she feels like she wants to leave, but she will stick it out. Very proud of her courage.

I hope all is well with your daughter. They will take good care of her. Keep writing as we all must. I know it is important that we show them we are connected to them while they are isolated from us. take care, Sparky
