Hi Pat, Just a note to let you know I am working when valeriejean is having her packing party.  I am closer to Orange County, actually in Riverside County, and close to San Bernardino County Calif.  if there are groups in any of these three counties I would like to know about them.  I am an RN and work 12 hr. nights 7PM to 7:30AM So I would love to help but logistics and schedules have to be worked out.  Thanks for all that you do for the Moms and sailors!

  • Ann-Marie(Proud Mom of Nick)

Thank you Pat, yes I am new to MAS, as, well as Navy 4 Mom's. My son's PIR is 3-11-11.
  • sherrys (Alumni-Ship 02 Div 911)

Hi, Pat! Thanks for the warm welcome to MAS. ;o) I'm a very close friend of valeriejean and we had a great time at our recent packing party in so. Cal.! My daughter just classed up last week for A-school and of course I can't wait to see her again.
  • D~W~G

Thank you so much Pat. Through trial and error I finally figured it out. I appreciate your guidance more then you know. I get easily confused by these sort of things.
  • Ann-Marie(Proud Mom of Nick)

Thank you Pat I appreciate it.
  • debotur

Thank you very much! I just put in a request :)! I'm very much excited even though its just to write letters. Since my boyfriend graduates this Friday he asked me to not send anymore letters because he won't get them on time and its been tough because I feel like I lost all communication with him :(
  • ProudNavyDW&M

I joined the last packing party for St Patrick's Day shipments. Met a lot of people and had fun working with the new recruits at the Recruitment office. Plan to join the local group on May 7th for packing party during Navy Week here in Denver. I am still finding my way around the Navy4Moms site. Thanks for your welcome!
  • MomByHeart

    Hi Pat...thanks for the welcome.

I read what you suggested but I am still a little confused..I went to the website and tried to click on some names, but nothing happened.  And does everyone send items to the same group each month?

I will probably only be able to send letters.  Do I send them to the MAS and then the group forwards them?

Sorry to be so dense, but I just don't get it yet!  :)

  • HisMom

Hi Pat.  could you please tell me what the weather in IL is looking like this weekend.  I will be in your neck of the woods for son's PIR.

    Thanks,

    Liz

  • HisMom

    Thanks Pat,

It sure is nice having someone near GL to give us a heads up.  I am used to rain no big deal as long as I am prepared.

I don't care if I sit in the room with my son all weekend.  The sun will be shining inside.

    Hi Pat,

I'm excited to be part of Molly's group!!!  I will gladly write letters at this time...I'm a teacher so my kids loved writing to my SR when he was in BC. I see you are in Illiinois--I grew up south of Chicago (Oak Lawn area). Loved being back there for PIR last month. Thanks again for the welcome!

    Susan

Pat, It rained three of the four days we were in Chicago.  We had a wonderful time.  Saw a movie (son's favorite thing to do) did dinner.  Did the mall.  Walked and talked.  It was great.  Had to smile at the way my three "children" (one of which is almost 30) were in the back seat of the rental car singing to the songs on the radio just like they did when they were in their early teens.  What  a great time!  Thanks for the help.
  • MomByHeart

Thanks for your answer, Pat!  I was hoping the two years of not getting leave was not accurate.  Funny you should mention Italy as being a really neat place they don't want to leave...that's where my guy is!  He is enjoying sight-seeing on the weekends, so hopefully he will want to come "home" next time he gets leave.  Two years is waaay to long to go without a good, strong hug!

  • Sue H...

Hi..my name is delores...but my friends call me sue...lol...
  • BtownSandy

Pat, thanks so much for the welcome. Before living in Bartlett (which has been almost 10 years now) I was also in Carol Stream (11 years there). I've been reading all I can about MAS and am excited to get started. My daughter just enlisted and leaves for BC on June 27. I figured I'd get started with MAS and hope that one day I will be sending my daughter these very same boxes.
  • JessicaB-Sailor's Sweetheart<3

Thank you! I will go message you my email I would love to see. How long is your son deployed and where to? Also, when a nuke is in A school, do they get any weekends free or days off where people can come visit? Since I'm going to be in College and am not married (and won't be until my school is over) I will have to be flying out to see my boyfriend if we want to see eachother.
  • JessicaB-Sailor's Sweetheart<3

Thanks! It seems like Phase 2/3 would be the best time. I know he is going to be very busy, I will too with College. It's going to be a hard few months for sure.
  • BtownSandy

Thanks for the info Pat. I have requested to join the MAS We Ship Love group and am awaiting approval. I will get to the post office tomorrow for the boxes and forms. Do we wait to ship for the ship days in the message?
  • BtownSandy

That's what I figured. I just wanted to make doubly sure my first time out.

As far as the sun, all I can say is it is about time!!!!! ; ) Have a fantastic day!
  • PAM (GM MOM)

Pat,  How do I get started?  Now that my son will be leaving Great Lakes at the end of the month I will have more time to get things done.  I can not promise that I can send a box every month but, I will try my best.  Where do I send them?  I also make cards and can crank them out by the dozens.  I can send them on a weekly bases if I just know where to send them.  The cards I made for my son while in boot he said were very helpful and encouraging, so if there are those in boot not getting mail I can send on a weekly bases if I have a name and address.

Thank you for the info Pat.  Sandy

Thanks pat, I was told to come to this page to find out what we do to make the pillow cases. I am in Jacksonville and we are getting ready for a packing party and I have said I could do some sewing. But I am new to this so not sure what to do. I saw the video that was posted about the pillow cases. My question is how do I get the fabric to use? Do I just need to buy some or go to the local fabric stores and ask for donations? And is there an exact pattern to use? Do you have any pics of ones that have been done before?

    Thanks

    Julie

  • Diana(PO3/IT3)

Thanks so much Pat! I look forward to participating with everyone!
  • proudmama (Ship 10 Div 257)

Hi Pat!  I have been away from my computer for a couple of days, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner!  Thanks for the "welcome" and I am really excited about helping out and supporting our wonderful men and women!  I am just unsure where to start....can you give me some pointers?? I was a bit late to help with July, but would love to start in August.  Thanks so much for your help!!

How wonderful to know you're coming to Indy!  I remember you as a new sub mom (as we all were).  Can't wait to see you.  Hugs! k.
  • Kaye S.

Hi, Pat!  If you're bringing any food tomorrow to the Packing Party in Indy, please let me know what it is ASAP.  I'm planning my final grocery store trip.  Looking forward to meeting the "real" you!  Hugs, k.

  • Ronnie - Proud Sailor Mom

Hi, Pat.  It was great meeting you yesterday.  Thanks for the nuke and other info you provided - it's much appreciated.  I am constantly humbled by the kindness I see in others on Navy for Moms.  It's amazing!
  • Lisa (A-Mac's mom)

Thank you, Pat.  I am super excited to get involved with Molly's Adopt a Sailor.  I'm a former Navy wife and now a Navy mom.  I've come full circle I guess you could say.  I can't wait to get started!

  • BeckyP-Kyle's Aunt

Hi Pat!  Thanks so much for giving me a shout.  I plan on reading up on everything this weekend and will not doubt reach out to you if I have questions etc... .  One question I have is about the pillow cases that I see everyone talking about.  I am pretty good at sewing so this sounds like something I might be good at doing, besides alot of other things that I plan on helping with.

Ok, thanks again and hope to talk to you soon.

  • jmh2086

    Thanks so much, Pat!
  • Wendy

    Hi Pat -

I haven't had a chance to read up yet but will this weekend !!  I would definitely like to get involved.  I was first active duty, then a Navy wife and now a Navy mom.  Almost like it has come full circle !!  Britton is about 2 1/2 hours east of Grand Rapids.  I have been talking to another mom from GR also !! I was just out that way a few weeks ago for the Allegan County Fair !!  Hope to chat with you soon !!!

Pat---YES to Swansea.  Maybe 18 minutes away from my house.  What do I need to do to help?

I was trying to save coke codes for  Joplin, MO school--but life has been too busy to do anything.  Plus, I've stopped drinking sodas again--the diet ones were keeping me from losing weight.

  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

Pat, am I crazy?  I thought you were a member of Heads at Ease.  Time goes by too fast for me.  But welcome anyway.  haha
  • Sue-Pillowcase lady

Pat thanks for all the help.  Sense your in IL & I'm in Missouri let me know if there is anytime we get together for a packing party or something.  That would be fun.  I had a great time putting packages together for the sailors for christmas lots of fun.  Thanks again you helped me figure it all out.
  • chowchow

Pat I'm only 3 hours from St. Louis that would be so fun count me in just let me know and that is when Jeff (my Navy son) will leave again for a long time over seas.  So I really enjoy doing this stuff that involves Navy packing and stuff.  It is kinda like Jeff is right here.  Sounds silly I know, but so true.
  • elkinsd

Thanks Pat!  I'm excited about joining the group!
  • elkinsd
