    Welcome to NAVYforMoms.com!

Head to “Settings” on the main page right away to add a profile image (no last names visible, please) and complete your Profile. Then - and this is important! - read these Community Guidelines and this Operations Security (OPSEC) Checklist, for the safety and privacy of all our Sailors.

Then jump right in!  Browse around the site and check out the groups and the information in their Discussion Forums.

Join this group for boot camp moms, where you'll also find a group for your Pass in Review (graduation) date; and this one for PIR Reference Information.

Get a head start during boot camp by joining groups for, and learning about, your Sailor's occupational specialty and "A" School; and later your Sailor's duty station and/or Navy ship and homeport. You can also join groups for your own state, region or home town and interests from getting ready for deployment to care package ideas!

Please say Hi when you join a group, and feel free to ask any and all questions - everyone was new once, and there is no "dumb" question.  This site was created by the U.S. Navy just for you, and we look forward to getting to know you and your Sailor.  Welcome to the NAVY family - we're so glad you're here!!

Rosanne - Welcome to the BC Mom and Loved ones group. I am one of the moms that sticks around and helps to welcome our new members. WE are glad to have you join us. Be sure to click on the group to the left here, go to the group page, scroll down past all of the information, past the discussion area and then you will come to the comment wall. If you haven't posted anything there yet, be sure to come say Hi. This is where we do all of our daily chatter.

My son has been in for 5+ years now, feel free to ask your questions in the group and we will do our best to answer you.

Rosanne - there is a lot to learn and a lot of information on the BC Mom group, especially in all the pages of information that Lemonelephant put together several years ago, most of it still fairly accurate.  Please do not hesitate to ask questions. The best place is in the comment wall on the group page. There are several of us in various stages of Navy Life that get notified when a new comment pops up. Some of us are able to reply sooner than others. Also, there are the new members currently with SRs (seaman recruits) at BC.

This site was set up by the Navy for the moms, and it runs on an older server that is not as up to date with new technology. It is easiest to navigate on a computer in my opinion, but if on a mobile device, we recommend that you put it into desktop mode.

Your profile indicates that your loved one is waiting to leave for BC, we can answer those questions in our group as well.

As much as we have people who post a profile picture with themselves and their loved one, we encourage you to pick a random picture, make sure your profile page is at least set to members only, and remember that most pages on this site are able to be viewed publicly.

Here is the link to a discussion of mine that might be helpful - How to send PMs (Private Messages) to friends on N4M & some OPS...

Also, if you are not aware, anything with blue letters are hyperlinks to other information. Sometimes I post links that way, other times I just copy and paste. Be sure to scroll back through some of the recent pages of the comment wall and read what things have been shared. We do repeat ourselves a lot, but it will give you a feel for some of the new members who are currently active.

Welcome!! Please read my blog to give you an idea of what the first few weeks may look like.. Welcome to the Navy... Everything will be ok!  The First part is some things to do before your SR leaves IF you Can, It’s NOT ESSENTIAL! Up and to the Left is a link to all the Navy Lingo! It is titled Navy Speak and you can find it here. We are here to get you through the “Great Silence” of the next 4 weeks (ish) and the 10 weeks of BC (ish). You will come to learn that No News Is GOOD News and everything is Needs of the Navy. You life will be Hurry Up and Wait and it’s ok to make plans but they are subject to change until after they have happened so it’s best to embrace the Motto: Semper Gumby!! (Always Flexible!!)

Rosanne -- I'm glad my blog has been helpful.  Reach out here or on the Boot Camp Moms page if there is anything we can help with.

Good morning Rosanne, I hope you are following along with our chats on the Comment Wall on the BC Mom group page. Please don't hesitate to reach out and post any questions you might have. That is the best place to ask and know that hopefully someone will be able to reply if some of us regulars aren't able to be around this weekend.

And if your question gets missed, please don't hesitate to ask again.

Rosanne, that is fine. There are a lot of members who never post anything and just read. It is also a lot of information to process, so one day at a time. :-)

Thanks for posting!! Two letters, if I recall? And a phone call, and a long one! That is awesome!

Once you start having communication and keep yourself busy, the time does go by a little faster.

Remember to change your sailor status to Enlisted now!!

Hi Roseanne, after speaking with my daughter today, I think that we were neighbors!  I hope that we were not too loud at times.  Your anchor was so nice.  Good job on that!
