Then jump right in!  Browse around the site and check out the groups and the information in their Discussion Forums.

Join this group for boot camp moms, where you'll also find a group for your Pass in Review (graduation) date; and this one for PIR Reference Information.

Get a head start during boot camp by joining groups for, and learning about, your Sailor's occupational specialty and "A" School; and later your Sailor's duty station and/or Navy ship and homeport. You can also join groups for your own state, region or home town and interests from getting ready for deployment to care package ideas!

Please say Hi when you join a group, and feel free to ask any and all questions - everyone was new once, and there is no "dumb" question.  This site was created by the U.S. Navy just for you, and we look forward to getting to know you and your Sailor.  Welcome to the NAVY family - we're so glad you're here!!

Welcome!! Please read my blog to give you an idea of what the first few weeks may look like.. First Things First-- The Quarantine Edition Up and to the Left is a link to all the Navy Lingo! It is titled Navy Speak and you can find it here. We are here to get you through the “Great Silence” of the next 4 weeks (ish) and the 10 weeks of BC (ish). You will come to learn that No News Is GOOD News and everything is Needs of the Navy. You life will be Hurry Up and Wait and it’s ok to make plans but they are subject to change until after they have happened so it’s best to embrace the Motto: Semper Gumby!! (Always Flexible!!)

The Expected timeline will look like this
Day 0 -- Travel, Arrival and "I'm Here" scripted phone call

    Week 1&2
Day 1-14 -- ROM (Restriction of Movement/ Quarantine-- Lots of studying and waiting) Unless they are Fully Vaccinated (2 weeks after final shot) in which case they skip straight to Week 3.

    Week 3
Day 15-21 Arrive Onboard RTC and begin P-days (P-days- Initial Processing Days) including 2 days of P-hold (Weekend)
Day 21-- Complete P days. (Initial PFT & Run)

Week 4- First week of training
Day 22-- Begin training and mail form letter out. Look for it to arrive around 1-2 weeks later

Week 5 -- First inspections and tests (Dental May be this week or next... Not Confirmed)(Form letter/ Personal letters usually arrive this week)

Week 6 -8 -- More training, Drilling (Flags and Marching), Fire Fighting training, Marlinspike (Line handling- How to tie up a Ship to the Pier) and weapons lessons, Confidence chamber( May or may not be happening yet, we don’t know for sure).. Warrior training in here somewhere.

Week 9 & 10 -- Stressful!! They have all their final inspections, PFA, Drills, BS21 and Tests. This is the lead up to the end!!

All of this is assuming no exposure to COVID with additional ROM
Training typically occurs Monday - Friday but we have heard rumors that Saturday’s are now training days as well.
Normal PIR will be 10 Fridays after departure from Home but it can be less by 1 but it can be extended by ???? (lots!!) It just depends on how many times they get caught in the “Ring of Fire” but do not get COVID. IF they get COVID, Once they are recovered they will not be removed from training again even if they are in the “Ring of Fire”. (so there is that small silver lining if kids get sick)
I Hope you’ll come and join us on the Main Boot Camp Moms page: https://navyformoms.ning.com/group/bootcampmoms You may have to scroll down a ways to reach the comments but we’d love to get to know you and answer any questions or concerns you may have or just be a support from others who “get it”.

How can I send somone a friend request if their profile is private? And why am I not listed as a member of one of the groups I joined
  • Chipmunk

    Hi Ummi,

I just accepted your friend request.

  • Chipmunk

Ummi, I sent you a PM, look in the upper left corner of your profile page here for Inbox and click on that. You may reply to my private message and I will do my best to answer you later.

Even if someone's profile page is set to private there should be an area to the right side of their icon picture where it says Add as Friend. It is in blue. You click on that and then it will pop up a square where you can post a very short comment about wanting to be their friend.

I answered your other question below in the PM that I sent to you.

Hi Ummi-- Yes.  I live just south of Denver.  I have my whole life except for a 16 year vacation in San Diego thanks to the US Navy and Sony.
Your SR left on my B-day.  I'm so sorry she's in the RCU.  Hopefully she's doing well and can resume training soon.  It's surprising (But not unheard of) that she's still there and not already back in training.

There is a Colorado Navy Parents FB Page that is active from time to time.  I'm on there too.

Ummi-- And you are learning how tough you Are!! I'll be praying for her to heal quickly and be able to finish BC sooner than later!

  • Anna

    Ummi,

I am so sorry I did not get the chance to welcome you to our Moms of Daughters 2 group!!  For some reason my N4Mss notifications are no longer coming to me!! So welcome to our group, feel free to comment on the group page, and keep us posted on your daughter and where she is in her career path!!

  • Anna

    Ummi,

That is so awesome that you got to hear from your girl!!  So happy she is doing well!!  Will you be able to attend the PIR ceremony??  I realize you're pretty far away.

  • Anna

    Ummi,

I'm so sorry you won't be able to attend the PIR.  I haven't check on it in awhile but have you heard if RTC still live streams the graduation??  I know it's not the same but it will give you some idea of what it's like.  Just know that each company lines up behind their number and they are in numerical order.  Depending on where the camera is you may be able to see her company.

  • Chipmunk

Ummi - I replied to your private message, sorry for the delay.

  • Anna

    Ummi,

Wow you don't have to apologize to me for taking so long to answer a post!!! I am so happy your daughter passed everything and graduated from boot camp!!!  And how lucky are you to be able to see her in the live stream!!! Yes, it would make me get all teary also!!

So what is next for your girl?? Is she going off for A school?  What job will she be doing?? Let me know how she's doing!!!

  • Chipmunk
