hi krmoore, welcome! I have found these sites so helpful! My son left on March 2. I can't tell you happy and relieved you will feel when you get your first letter. Unfortunately, it won't come until weds or thurs next week. The joy it brought was immense. You will also receive what others refer to as your "kid in a box". This is all his belongings...right down to his underwear! There will also be a form letter with a little note he puts at the bottom. It gives you his address and PIR date as well as other pertinent info. Again, you won't receive it until next week sometime. The feelings we have as moms are so confusing! Obviously we are so proud of them, yet we miss them so very much. It is the total isolation from them that is the hardest. Never, as mothers, have we been asked to not speak with our children for such an extended period of time.
We will get through this, until then May God Bless them and keep them safe and strong!
Wow, what are the sea cadets? I guess he has known what he wanted since he was you ng. I am happy for him! I am from NY. My oldest son is married with 2 girls, my next son is in Iowa with his partner working and James is in BC. That leaves me home with my youngest, Sarah. She will be graduating in June. She actually went to take the test for the army, but thankfully has changed her mind. Do you have other children?
