JSma2, Welcome aboard N4Ms. You will find the members very supportive & lots of info here. I hope you enjoy N4Ms. I sure wish I had known about this website when my son joined the Navy 4 years ago. Even with my Dad having been in the Marines, my brother in the navy, many Uncles in the service WWII and support our troops for about 5 years with www.soldiersangels.org, I still didn't know much so don't feel alone there. If you haven't joined any groups yet, you may want to click on groups, then in the search box type in things like your state initials, or your sailors location or job. I would type in OR, HI, submariner, nuke, for instance. It will help you find those close to you or going through the same things you are or will be. And the settings on your profile are very important. My son recently deployed and the only way I knew was because I am signed up with www.navy.mil for news and pics daily. I found his sub's deployment on there several days after he left. It was a shock. But these Moms helped me through it. Blessings,

Thanks for the nice welcomes and advice, everyone. We are counting the days and trying to make the most of them before J. is off to OCS. I have found this site, as well as a few others very helpful. We are having a hard time giving him up, but we realize that he is his own man now, and we will be here to support him as best as we can. I am happy to have found a site were there are others who have the same experiences and are willing to share and support. God Bless all our military people and families.
