So far the recruiter seems nice, but the info is very slow and I need to know more. When is PIR? Where is he?
I bet our sons were on the plane together. Mine also stayed overnight in San Jose then flew out today. We had to say goodbye in the recruiter's office before they drove to San Jose. It's so hard! I'm keeping my phone by my side, hoping I get that 30-second "I'm here" call that other moms have mentioned. I just want to hear his voice.
Did your son call you on the trip to GL? I'm sure Emily was with your son. She said there was 8 recruits in the same California group that went from SJC to Dallas to Chicago. She called me and we texted while in Dallas but then her phone died and she borrowed a phone and made a call to me to tell me she got to Chicago.
I just hope and pray she's doing ok. I know they don't let them sleep until late tonight after being up since yesterday morning, that's grueling! I'm feeling better about it since she left than before she left, it was so so hard and I cried a lot before she left but now I'm at peace with it.
I'm going to PIR in Sept and I don't know for sure but am thinking it's on 9/14 since one member here said her daughter went to BC last week on 7/11 and her PIR is 9/7. I'm going with my husband and son (Emily's twin brother) and my kids' dad.
Hey there! Got your message to group about the airports. The easiest to navigate is Milwaukee and prices sometimes are cheaper (car rentals too). Check out Southwest Airlines if that is available to you since they have no change fee and 2 bags check for free. I had to change my reservations when my son was there...didn't have them with SW....sigh....Furthest airport is Midway in Chicago. Lots of traffic in Chicago depending on time of day. But remember....if your sailor will be flying out to A School, they will be flying from either Ohare or Midway. We tell the ladies to try and book return flights late Sunday if possible in case their sailors have flight plans changed (happens). That way they have more time together. Most of those flying out will leave the day after PIR.
So sorry you are having a problem with the site. I have been on it since 2009 and didn't understand it at first either, but stayed on it and learned pretty quickly. After you hit Add a Comment, "refresh" the page and you will see your comment stay. I find that if I post, then leave the page and come right back, I don't see it yet. But it does refresh on its own pretty quickly and it is there. I have never posted a comment that wasn't there. So don't give up! We veterans did not start the FB groups...many of those lades are going through bootcamp now...not sure if they check our page for info and then take it back to FB, but we hope that for ones who want to be on FB too, that they also stay on N4Moms. We N4Moms veterans are finding that there is lots of misinformation being floated around on FB because they aren't checking info with ones who have been through this already.
Welcome to the group and hope that you stay! If we can help you in any way, please ask us. FTLW, ellen, Lala, Betsy and I are the regular N4Moms veterans on the N4Moms PIR sites...but others drop in with great info. Please feel free to message any of us if we can help you.
