    Prayerwarrior,

I see you recently joined the Moms of Daughters 2 group and I want to welcome you!!  Sorry I didn't get this welcome to you sooner, but I've recently been involved in a move!!!  But I want you to know that we are a close, friendly, supportive group of Moms and look forward to getting to know you and your sailor.  I see you are new to N4Ms and your daughter is in boot camp now?  Please feel free to jump in and join our chats.  You can ask any questions you may have, talk freely about your feelings, fears or concerns, or just chat about life.  We are all in different phases of our daughters Naval careers and we are always there for each other!!!  Let us support you when you're missing her, lend an ear when you need to vent, and celebrate with you when you want to brag!!  Again, Welcome Aboard!!!!!

    Prayerwarrior,

I used to work in a school system also!!!  I was the office secretary first, then worked up to Principal's secretary.  I know how hectic school jobs can be!!!  And not just those first new days!!  What grade do you teach??  As far as the ribbons and such - as I understand the ribbons those are for the moms to be able to recognize what ship/div their sailors are in so you can meet other parents that were in boot with your daughter.  Not sure about the coins because they didn't have coins for boot when my two enlisted went through.  None of them are mandatory tho.  Your daughter will get official pictures taken during the last couple weeks and you may just want to wait to get those and maybe the bootcamp "yearbook" called the Keel.  There is also a video of PIR that you can purchase.  It's a matter of what you want personally.  Command coins are something sailors will collect throughout their Naval careers.  They could be gifts from someone for a special event or they could be command coins, like from a ship.  She could get a coin to give to you as a gift.  My officer daughter gave her Dad and I a command coin from her commissioning at OCS.  Hope this answers your questions.  Let me know if I can help any other way.
