Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Leaving for Bootcamp August 1st or 2nd, 2012

I keep seeing running lists of dates that kids are leaving and I really wanted to connect with other people whose kids are leaving at the same time my son is.  So, if you have a child leaving either August 1st or 2nd, post here and let's keep each other up todate on progress.

Carol,

My son leaves for Great Lakes on the 9th.  He will actually leave the house on the 6th since our St. Louis Cardinals do a DEP preshow and the boys will actually do their final swearing in before the game.  So even though I say good bye on the 6th, I'll get to see him again on the 9th....which makes me feel a little better.

Since our boys are just a week apart....I guess we'll get the same information

Thank goodness for this website...it's helping my insanity level.

My son, Steven, flies out from Pittsburgh on the 2nd.  MEPS and final swearing in is on the 1st.

i have not heard anything about a final swearing in but now that people keep mentioning it, I am going to ask my son.  Of course it may be that he does not want me there for a second goodbye...

He might not know. ;) The recruiter even told me a different day than when I originally asked months ago. We got it all cleared up now though! I've been really glad for this site because I've learned a lot I might not have otherwise known! And mine is swearing in the same morning he leaves. Moms and family (and GF) are welcome to attend at least here that is. Get the address and the time. The recruiter also had tips for parking and arrival time.

My Son leaves for MEPS July 31,st and does his final swearing in August 1st at 8 am. Family IS allowed to be present..... From there he will be bussed directly to the airport, no idea when his flight leaves, but just in case someone doesn't know this.... the airport WILL grant family a special pass to allow you to go past security to the gate to wait with him. Just make sure you bring ID...

My son leaves home for Illinois July 31. I don't know if that is when he is flying out. My son doesn't even know. "

Hi Navy Moms, my son leaves Aug 14, they do some final testing and he swears in Aug 15, then will fly from Little Rock to Great Lakes... From what I'm reading, you can go to the swearing in part on the day he leaves for boot camp.... I will be saying my good bye when the bus comes to the recruiters office to pick him up and they head to Little Rock.... After bootcamp, where are your Sailors going? Mine will be going Pensacola for A school....

The recruiter will know for sure! Ours has a whiteboard with all the ship out dates...

Hi JonsMama My son leaves on the 2nd as well. From Oklahoma City.

I can't believe it is almost time!!! What an amazing range of emotions to feel all at the same time.

I will check in with my sons recruiter today about plans but we are down to the junior man in the office.  Our senior officer, who I really liked, has moved on to a new duty station. 

 

I think in the end I will leave the question of the final swearing in up to my son.  As it is, regardless of saying goodbye at the bus or before he flies out I will be in tears.   As a single mom of just one, I feel like this is the double whammy. 

So does anyone else here have a huge family that wants to come to graduation?

Oh, I also forgot to add that he is going on to Pennsacola for A-school. 

When we foudn that out, I suggested that since he was going down there, I could move as well and we could live on the beach.  He told me "It is so not cool to take your mother to the navy with you".
