Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Buttercup,

I see you recently joined the Moms of Daughters 2 group and I want to welcome you!!  I'm glad you found us. So your daughter is in boot camp now? Come join the chat in our group - there is usually someone on every day. We are a friendly, caring group of moms who have daughters in all stages of Navy life - from newbies to those whose daughters have been in for several years - from officer to enlisted!!! We support all our sailor girls and each other as well. Not just during the bootcamp days but the weeks and months following, as they go off to school, first duty station, or first deployment.  Let us support you when you're missing her, lend an ear when you need to vent, and celebrate with you when you want to brag!!  We look forward to getting to know you and your sailor!! Again, Welcome Aboard!!!!

Hi ~ Now I get to apologize for taking so long to reply!  We have been very busy lately so I tend to jump on this site quickly just to see what people are saying and then get off.  I always forget to check for messages. :)

My daughter is doing well also.  She really wanted to do this.  I never would have thought that I would have a daughter in the Navy.

Do you have other kids also?  I have 2 boys, 1 older and 1 younger than my daughter.

Are you going to be at PIR?  Where do you live?  We are lucky in that we live in Illinois so it makes it easier for us to go to PIR.

I wonder if our girls have met?

I will try to remember to check my messages every time I come on the site.

Make change 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link). There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

I see you have joined NUKE moms and you may also want to check out Nuke School Charleston and Nuke A School FAQ. The Rating Information Card for NF can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/nukepower.pdf. Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend when the time comes. Your Sailor may have Prototype in Ballston Spa, NY; if so, join Moms/Dads/Families with Nukes in Ballston Spa, NY at that time.

Join the group, DEP-Leavin' for Boot Camp in January, to connect with others with loved ones who left the same day and may have PIR together. You may want to check out Mom’s of Navy Daughters, Mom's of Daughters 2, and Women in the Navy.

Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. Start with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and read 1 or 2 pages a day and then go back to them as you need the info. Take care and blessings to you and yours.
