I am new on here and my son leaves on March 9 headed to boot camp. I am very proud but also very nervous and overwhelmed with emotions. I guess the not knowing and wondering how he will be or what to expect is the hardest.

Well when i got his first letter the other day he didn't mention South Carolina at all which is where he's suppossed to do two years of schooling after bootcamp. I was planning on flying there on the 29th and leaving May 1st. I just hate having to communicate with important need to know basis via mail...lol that's crazy! He said they have 12 minutes to make their beds and if their not made exactly right they have massive excersise and when they wake them up in the mornings they say "get the fuck out of bed" I just feel so bad for him cause lord know's i'm not that kinda girl LOL! Especially to be woken up buy someone yelling at me.

Yes I will have to ask Zack also if he knows him...he said that a bunch of people have gone to the hospital and have gotten kicked out and act sick so they don't have to excersise. Yes I will be at his graduation as well...i'm concerned with when I should leave afterwards though...like if Zack will get shipped off to South Carolina for his Nuclear Engineering schooling or how long he has before he goes there? Cause so far I have my schedule for that leaving May 1st. We are getting married in May!:)

Where about from Texas is he? My fiance's name is Zack ellis, we're from Smithville texas and austin area. He passed his first PT test he said in his first letter after the form letter I just received last friday. Have you received a letter from your son yet, besides the form letter? I wonder if he's Zacks friend...he said he's been talking about me to his new found friends. I can't wait to go to his graduation.

You are welcome. Here's the best hint I can give you - boot camp is harder on the moms than it is on the recruits! I lived in fear waiting for that first letter...does he hate it? is he sorry he joined? does he want to come home? Answer is: Friday is his 2nd year anniversary with the Navy. He found boot camp to be easier than he expected, liked the food, thought they needed to do more PT and made some great friends in the process. Your son will get through this but more importantly you will too!
