Not Necessarily.  Normal Boot Camp is 2 weeks Quarantine, 6-7 weeks training. HOWEVER If he gets caught in the "Ring of Fire" That can add 2 weeks every time. then they look for a Div that was close-ish to where he was in training.  We have seen that it can often add an extra week or 2 to their training schedule.  Since COVID there is no Maximum number of weeks they can be there.  In fact just a few weeks back the ladies on the Main Bootcamp page were talking about a recruit who had been there since March!  There are many things that can happen.  Then you add in A school and who knows how long that can be.  The Best person to tell you their timeline is your SR.(seaman Recruit).  It is rare for a single individual to be at BC for longer than 15 weeks but it CAN happen!!

I know that it is disappointing to hear that it will be a while before you hear but better that you know than wonder.  Please know you are welcome to post on the main Bootcamp mom's page and we will answer any questions you may have as well as offer whatever support we can.  You are not alone in this.  The life of a Navy Wife is a hard choice (I was one once too) but the rewards are so worth it!  Know that there will be lonely times but if you allow those times to draw you together instead of pulling you apart you will have a stronger and better relationship!  I found that while I missed my husband I stayed committed to him.  I also learned to function alone and be ok without having him there 24/7.  There were some hard transitions (Returns from deployment were especially challenging. I had my way and routine and he struggled to fit into it.) But with patience, LOADS of Talking, Writing to tell him what the plan was and a lot of love on both sides we made it work.  We just celebrated 32 years together and we work full time together to!  Do not ever think you cannot ask any questions!! There a lots of helpful ladies on this site!! If we don't have the answer we may be able to steer you in the right direction!

Welcome!! Please read my blog to give you an idea of what the first few weeks may look like.. First Things First-- The Quarantine Edition Up and to the Left is a link to all the Navy Lingo! It is titled Navy Speak and you can find it here. We are here to get you through the “Great Silence” of the next 4 weeks (ish) and the 8 weeks of BC (ish). You will come to learn that No News Is GOOD News and everything is Needs of the Navy. You life will be Hurry Up and Wait and it’s ok to make plans but they are subject to change until after they have happened so it’s best to embrace the Motto: Semper Gumby!! (Always Flexible!!)

The Expected timeline will look like this
Day 0 -- Travel, Arrival and "I'm Here" scripted phone call
Day 1-14 -- ROM (Restriction of Movement/ Quarantine-- Lots of studying and waiting)
Day 15-21 Arrive Onboard RTC and begin P-days (P-days- Initial Processing Days) including 2 days of P-hold (Weekend)
Day 21-- Complete P days. (Initial PFT & Run)
Day 22-- Begin training and mail form letter out. Look for it to arrive around 1-2 weeks later)
All of this is assuming no exposure to COVID with additional ROM
Training typically occurs Monday - Friday but we have heard rumors that Saturday’s are now training days as well.
Normal PIR will be 8 Fridays after departure from Home but it can be less by 1 but it can be extended by ???? (lots!!) It just depends on how many times they get caught in the “Ring of Fire” but do not get COVID. IF they get COVID, Once they are recovered they will not be removed from training again even if they are in the “Ring of Fire”. (so there is that small silver lining if kids get sick)
