Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

http://usmilitary.about.com/od/enlistedjob1/a/yn.htm

usmilitary.about.com covers a lot of material...some of the pages maybe a little old, so I would take the info given, and then ask your questions of a recruiter to verify.

That is great to hear.  Then thank you for your choice to serve!!

Creo list...google search US Navy Creo List http://usmilitary.about.com/od/navy/a/creolist.htm

This one is three years old...but it gives a good explanation...then search for a more recent version...some things are hard to find...but if you keep looking you will find them.

If you are considering making Navy a career, look into rates that are not over-manned vs ones that are.  You will have more opportunities in the under-manned rates.  You will find these rates by looking at CREO lists.  My best to you and to your GF... and Thank you both for serving and considering to serve our country.

Welcome aboard!  Do you have specific questions?  This is a great site to learn about the Navy.  Check out the DEPper's page, Boot Camp groups...which all contain a wealth of information.  We have an Indiana group page here, also.
