Ahhh.... Your comment on reupping on your contract was what threw me.  Yes, Reach out to anyone you know your SR may have talked to or written to.  A week before PIR means, he'll go back in training near the end, he may have an extra week just to get back to speed but it shouldn't be much depending on why he was pulled.  The tears are understandable!! You thought this would be "When it was all over" but it's not and the honest part is it won't be for a long time.  That's the bad news.  The good news is that you don't have to go through this alone!!  This is an amazingly supportive group and we are here whenever you need us.

So do I understand Dawne that you are also a service member?  Thank you for your service.  Do you know yet if he ended up in RCU before/ during or After BS21?  That will make a bit of a difference as to how they handle this.  HIPPA prevents them from providing any answers but I do hope that you get a phone call this weekend to update you as to what happened and what is next!  I really think it's the "Unknown" that makes it so hard to handle!  If they could just call and let us know what is going on and answer all our questions then we'd be all good! We may still be concerned but the Worry would be manageable.

Lol!! - Yes, this site is still "old-fashioned" and so it does not always work as well on a mobile device.

Well that proves it! I commented to myself.

Thanks so much. Yeah, this app is wonky on my phone. I'll get on my laptop in a bit. I'm a teacher, so I don't really want took at it at home BUT you all have been so nice.

Dawne - I see that Tootie reached out to you on the RCU group page and is your friend now. I am not a member of that group, so I can not post on that page, but I do know that another mom was able to send word puzzle type books to her daughter. I would double check with your son first, but no, I do not think they are able to pursue any online classes or academics of that sort. They are probably able to study their BC book, but there would not be any interaction with computers or accessing the internet to my knowledge.

Dawne - Welcome to the BC Mom group page. I saw you had joined but did not get an email notice that you had posted on the discussion in that group. This site is a lot easier to navigate on a computer, so if you are on a mobile device, we generally recommend that you put your phone into desktop mode.

When you go to the BC mom page, there is a lot of information there, scroll down past that, scroll down past the discussion where you replied, and then go to the Comment Wall area. That is the place where belovedbyHim is suggesting that you post a message so that other members who follow the group will see your question.

I did reach out to one of our other members, Tootie, to see if she could connect with you. Her son was recently in RCU. Take encouragement from the others. Take heart with the information you have read and received and know that you are not alone. Some of the SRs will recover and head back to a new division, others will be sent home and may have the option to enlist at a later date, It just depends.

Dawne -- I have no words of wisdom but I also suggest you post on the BootCamp Moms page.  I know that we have at least one mom there who's SR was in RCU with stress fractures.  They may be able to offer more support since I don't know if they are on the RCU Page.
Please know that this doesn't mean they will be separated.  They may not call right away but they should be able to earn calls home just like anyone else.  How long has your SR been in RCU?

Dawne, I saw you had posted in the RCU group. You might want to go ahead and post in the main Bootcamp Mom and loved ones group as well. More members post there, or at least follow it and someone that has been there/ done that, might be able to offer you some encouragement. We had a mom whose son recently left RCU and went home to finish recovering and is planning on getting stronger and reapplying.
