OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Yes, I'm afraid that is right. We talked about that when Chelsea was home over Christmas and I asked her if there were any cute guys on the ship. She said that it wouldn't matter anyway because most of them she can't even talk to. What good is it to be surrounded by a shipload of men if you can't even talk to them, I say :) I can understand not having a relationship or even a friendship together, but not being able to speak to one another seems a little over the top to me. Of course the same goes for making friends with the girls. Luckily, she has a great roommate in Kristina and also has a few other good friends. Kind of limitting though.

oh, my sailor says they are not allowed to talk to officers. Is that right? She's an ensign, yes?

Hi Elaine. Don't forget to go to the discussion part of the USS Blue Ridge group where it says, "what your sailor does on the Blue Ridge" or something like that, LOL!
