Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Did you take the pictures from your son's PIR? I'm wondering what kind of camera you used. (I'm getting a new one in time for my son's PIR.) Thanks for sharing these!

Kathy, you might want to join the Machinest Mates group also. However, I think the Great Lakes A School Q&A is the best group available for our sailors in the GLTC....Catch you later....

Kathy, That is a keeper for sure.
Please check out the Groups tab at the top of the page. You will find a lot of great information and probably some moms whose recruits left at the same time as Corey did. Have you gotten his box (the cives that he wore to boot camp...shoes, etc) yet? You will have a generic letter giving you info with that box if I remember correctly. You wll also want to write letters of encouragement and start planning for his PIR (grad from bootcamp).

Since he is at boot, I am assuming based on your comments, write him a letter asking that the first time he calls, if possible, make it when you are not at home...voice on answering machine, I left Andrew's two messages on my answering machine until he came home from school. His comment, 'Why are you keeping these messages"...'so I can here your voice when I need to'..."oh, MOM"...but it works.
