OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

You may need these if s/he has bills or personal property that you will need to take care of or if s/he

were to be hurt while at the RTC. You can get the forms to do both kinds of POA for free online and

customize them to your needs and then have them notarized. Craig has a general POA on the

      navydep.com site http://www.navydep.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1596  and

http://www.expertlaw.com/library/estate_planning/medical_power_of_a... has a Medical Power of

Attorney form. You only need a POA if you will need to take care of financial matters or personal

property for your recruit and the MPOA is only needed if your recruit is incapacitated; otherwise, the

HIPAA form or medical information waiver form is all that is needed.

A durable POA that will cover both is best drawn up by an attorney and most will charge less than $50

      to do so.

Keep a photocopy of your future Sailor's driver's license with the power of attorney. Some states must

have both in order to use the POA. Some banks will only accept their own POA that must be signed at

Hey. My son sent me some pictures on my cell phone of the group he was traveling with from New Orleans. They left the airport in New Orleans at approximately 5:30 headed to Chicago O'Hare. Would your son have flown out at that time? he may be in this group pic I have if you want me to text it to you. My phone number is 251-554-7894. Text me and say hey, this is *your name* and you have the pics. I will add you as a contact and forward the pic to you so you can see if your son is in it.

Welcome to NavyforMoms.com. My name is Ronny and my son has been in the Navy since February of 2012. He is currently stationed in San Diego with a Helicopter Squadron. He is an Aviation Structural Mechanic. I hope you find all the info you are looking for here, and if you have any questions feel free to ask. My son is 3rd Generation Navy, so I do know a little about the Navy..:)

If you have a new Sailor who is in Boot Camp, or leaving soon, visit CallsforRecruits.org and I will send you FREE Pre-Paid Phone cards for your SR to use while they are in boot camp. I started that program when my son left for Boot Camp :)

Welcome Aboard and I wish your Sailor Fair Winds and Following Seas.
