Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hi Lisa! It's so good to know that our guys have made a connection while @ Basic. Funny how they had only known last names before Thursday, LOL! It was so nice to see my baby. I was so upset after dropping them off @the base. It hurt like when he first left :`(
Hope to meet up with you @ PIR. Just two more weeks, yay! Stay strong, sister!
Hi! I just threw a party for my son tonight and I can't believe that he's leaving tomorrow! I'm dropping him off at the station in long beach tomorrow afternoon and he'll head up to meps by the airport in los angeles. When is your sons flight?- chris
Be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for the RTC.
Lisa, I see you have changed your Username so that it no longer contains your full name, you also need to change the URL to this page. Make change 2 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link) to take care of that. Also make change 3 while you are there. There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.
Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. Start with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and read 1 or 2 pages a day and then go back to them as you need the info. What is your future Sailor's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend. Take care and blessings to you and yours.
You are the first one I've seen who has a son leaving the same day! So great to find someone else on this site with the same day.
My son has been in DEP for 8 months, chomping at the bit to get there. He's 21, has two years of college. Since he's older and has lived in the dorms, I'm not so nervous about him leaving, but not being able to see him and being so far has me a little anxious.
We'll have to stay in touch.
Best, Chris (Nick's mom)
