Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Ship 11 Div 087

My daughter left on 12/08/15. I received a very short letter form her and got concerned because I'd sent her three letters already and from her letter I can tell that she hasn't gotten mine yet. I also noticed that there are only three names on her list for graduation when I need for there to be four because we're a family of 5 including her. So it concerns me to think that one of her siblings won't be able to attend. I'm trying not to get nervous about anything but it's hard.

Naval Aviation is more for the loved ones of pilots and Officers, so you can leave that group. Click on Naval Aviation and then click "Leave Group" in the upper right.

If your recruit has an aviation contract, then join Sailors In Pensacola, FL For A School....Corry Station too!! and Parents of A School Sailors in Pensacola and check out Airman Family and Friends.

Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR, but may fly out on Sunday due to flight availability issues. Plan to leave on Sunday if you are able. See PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.

What is your recruit's rating (job/specialty) or field going to be? There are groups for many of the ratings or fields with "A" School or training in Pensacola.

I hope you all had a great holiday and a happy new year. We are at our 1/2 way mark!! Less than 4 weeks is PIR!! Whoop whoop! I am great full that my other daughter has been home from college to keep me busy! Spoke with my SR and she is doing well. She said she's made a lot of awesome friends! Can't be easy living with that many hormonal women! Hoping to meet you at the meet and greet!! Stay well! And let's hope the weather cooperates with our travels!!

Make at least change 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link).

There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

Another change that I recommend that is mentioned in change 1 is to change the ZIP Code to one that is not easily associated with your recruit.

Since you have a recruit at the RTC, you can change "Waiting to leave for Boot Camp" above to "Enlisted." You can make that change on the same page when you change the ZIP Code.

Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. Start with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and read 1 or 2 pages a day and then go back to them as you need the info.

What is your recruit's rating (job/specialty) or field going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend.

Take care and blessings to you and yours.
