Still no call

Posted on April 21, 2013 at 9:26am 4 Comments

It's been 25 days... I've received two letters but still no phone call.... He sounded much better in his second letter than his first... I expected that he would hate it at first, but then get accustomed to it and be ok... He said my letters help him so much!! I cannot stress the importance of writing them because if they cannot call, that's all they have to get through boot camp. Don't get me wrong...I cling to my phone all day and when the call doesn't come, my heart breaks... But I'm holding… Continue

Letter

Well, I received a text from my sons girlfriend...she received a letter today from my son. He said he hates it there and he misses everyone bad. I'm sure I will have a letter at home...I know it's not easy for them and that he will hate it. I just know I'm going to need a box of tissues tonight... :(

Ughhhh...

Week one over...

Well one week has passed since I sent my son off to the Navy. It's been a week of ups and downs. I received his box yesterday but no other information as of yet. The hardest part is not hearing his voice or seeing his smile... I just try to remain positive, knowing in 7 weeks I will be the proud mother of a sailor!!

Hey Paula!

Thanks for the friend add! I'll ask my son if he knows yours. As far as I know they haven't started classes yet, which is frustrating for him to say the least. How's your son adjusting?

I'm praying as 199 & 200 begin their Battle Stations. May The Lord have mercy upon them and give them strength, wisdom, grace, and peace--and peace and grace for their families!

Hello Paulawillsmom thank you for adding me as a friend. My son is 20 years old and is in Ship 02 DIV 928. He is a staff recruit. He holds doors for the Cheifs during the PIR. I probably won't get to see him he said. These last few weeks have definitely been harder w/o the phone calls, but I knew kind of what to expect. I had been in the Army many many moons ago. But it's different being the parent. However I have been Lucky to receive letters weekly. While they might have only been a paragraph or 2, while my letters have been 15 or pages front and back. He has been nice in these letters and I feel we have become closer. He says that my letters have kept him going and he loves me for all my support. He also said that all the Recruits are doing well but are tired. He felt that they may have come in as individuals but he thought they would leave as teammates! Navy Family! So I'm sure your recruit is very busy. He probably is in the band or drill and they are kept extra busy, stay strong. Almost there. We will help each other! Can't wait to meet y'all.

Btw, my son is in Ship 02 Div 928.  It seems that it's separate from the others, and I don't understand why.  The other divisions are 195-204, and then there's 928, also, the other divisions say brother division, and his doesn't.  I hate the not knowing what these things mean lol!  I still haven't gotten a call, or a personal letter, just the form letter.  I can't wait to hear from him!

Hope yours is doing well! :-)

It's sooo funny, I got my letter right after I made the comment asking, what letter...lol.  I got it Saturday!

I got his graduation date, and address, at first I thought it was going to be a letter from him.

But, I'll be there for his graduation, May 24th!!

Welcome to NavyforMoms.com.  My name is Ronny and my son has been in the Navy since February of 2012.  He is currently stationed in San Diego with a Helicopter Squadron.  He is an Aviation Structural Mechanic.  I hope you find all the info you are looking for here, and if you have any questions feel free to ask.  My son is 3rd Generation Navy, so I do know a little about the Navy..:)
If you have a new Sailor who is in Boot Camp, or leaving soon, visit CallsforRecruits.org and I will send you FREE Pre-Paid Phone cards for your SR to use while they are in boot camp.  I started that program when my son left for Boot Camp :)
Welcome Aboard and I wish your Sailor Fair Winds and Following Seas.

Hey Paula,

I'm the mom you met at Fedex...we were picking up the boxes at the same time.

What letter?  I didn't even know I was supposed to receive one?
