OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

A little about me:
I'm a mom to two boys, wife, and an elementary school counselor. I enjoy running, hiking, being anywhere there is water, cooking, baking, and eating.
I am here to support my

Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy career?
Waiting to leave for Boot Camp
When I heard “Navy,” I...
needed to learn more about it, was proud and encouraged it
The Navy offers opportunities that...
We could otherwise never afford to give our son. He's not only getting a career, he's getting valuable experience, and he's helping others in the process. All without ending up drowning in debt.
Our Navy experience so far...
has been positive and maturing.

Good Morning Rebecca, my apologies for my delayed welcome to N4M. I recently had a notification that you had joined both the BC Mom group and the Nuke Mom group. I am a member of both of those groups and I do my best to send a personal welcome to each new member as soon as I am notified that they joined, but life has been busy.

I am glad that you found us and I encourage you to go to the BC Mom group, scroll down past the information, past the discussions and when you come to the comment wall to post a hello there. We have several new members who recently joined and it is helpful the more people saying hello. Also, the more questions asked, or posts, the more likely those of us "seasoned" moms will see your comments and reply as well.

My son is actually finishing up his 6 years and is now working on his processing out of the Navy, and will hopefully be starting college soon, but I am still an active member on this site. I also have a DIL in the Navy and so I will be sticking around.

I see you are from the KC area. By chance a Chiefs fan? MO is my hometown state and I have had family in the KC area as well. Feel free to reach out to me or anyone else on the Nuke Mom page also. Be sure to scroll through a few pages of our recent comments there as we had a new member ask some questions as well.

I prefer to use my computer for this site as I find it easier to navigate on the large screen, but if you are on a mobile device, we generally recommend that you put it into desktop mode when viewing.

Welcome to NAVYforMoms.com!

Head to “Settings” on the main page right away to add a profile image (no last names visible, please) and complete your Profile. Then - and this is important! - read these Community Guidelines and this Operations Security (OPSEC) Checklist, for the safety and privacy of all our Sailors.

Then jump right in!  Browse around the site and check out the groups and the information in their Discussion Forums.

Join this group for boot camp moms, where you'll also find a group for your Pass in Review (graduation) date; and this one for PIR Reference Information.

Get a head start during boot camp by joining groups for, and learning about, your Sailor's occupational specialty and "A" School; and later your Sailor's duty station and/or Navy ship and homeport. You can also join groups for your own state, region or home town and interests from getting ready for deployment to care package ideas!

Please say Hi when you join a group, and feel free to ask any and all questions - everyone was new once, and there is no "dumb" question.  This site was created by the U.S. Navy just for you, and we look forward to getting to know you and your Sailor.  Welcome to the NAVY family - we're so glad you're here!!
