Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hi Chris,  I apologize for the tardiness in this response.  I did send you a message, I hope you see it!

If you have not received a call indicating that there is a problem and that he may not have PIR, then all is well and he is expected to have PIR as scheduled. There have been recruits many times, and even a whole division at least once, who did not make the "I"m a Sailor!" call for one reason or another. Those who are at risk of not having PIR do make a call, so if you have not gotten that call, then "No news is good news!" See Battle Stations-21 (BST).

Since you have a recruit at the RTC, you can change "Waiting to leave for Boot Camp" above to "Enlisted."

Please do not post the name of any recruit. Go to http://navyformoms.com/forum/topics/thanksgiving-2014?commentId=1971797%3AComment%3A8835135&xg_source=activity and delete to comment in which you posted the last name of the recruit you will be adopting. OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) gives info on how to contact the loved ones of a recruit without giving names.

I'm new to this site and still trying to figure out how to navigate it.  I'm in search of Mom's with Kids leaving on the 20th.  It looks like that would be you.  LOL  I would love to stay in touch. ~Lisa

Click on OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and the Page will open in a new window. Read the Page and follow the directions at the bottom to make change 3 (see the words in bold) so that this page is no longer visible to ANYONE with access to the web. There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

You are very welcome. That is great that he has responsibility while in DEP. It will help to keep him focused and will help develop qualities that will help him in BC and in the fleet.

Yes, he will most likely fly out the day after PIR.

Since your future Sailor will be in the Nuclear Field, you will want to join NUKE moms and you may also want to check out Nuke School Charleston and Nuke A School FAQ. The Rating Information Card for NF can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/nukepower.pdf. Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend when the time comes.

Your Sailor may have Prototype in Ballston Spa, NY; if so, join Moms/Dads/Families with Nukes in Ballston Spa, NY at that time. Some stay in Charleston.
