Hey Angela. Sending messages to all the moms whose kids are in Div. 316. Pretty anxiety ridden this morning. I arrive in Chicago Thursday morning at 10:45. Can't wait to get that call. Until then I hold my breath!! Keep the faith. I am certainly trying to. Prayers being sent your way for comfort during this crazy time.

Hi Angela, I'm sorry I haven't replied to your comment on 8/11, I'm still learning to navigate around this site. I finally got a letter from Joey on Monday the 16th, he had written it on the 8th. He says things are fine in the division although they do have their problems. It's a mix (obviously) of boys and girls. The girls talk to much and the boys don't listen. Half are mature and half are immature. But I'm sure in time they will all come together as a unit. I also finally, FINALLY, got my 15 minute phone call on Tuesday the 17th, at 4:00 pm (Wyoming time). He sounded real good, not depressed or down, he's still excited about it all, says they have no down time and they are busy constantly. He did say the letters make a lot of difference for the recruits and to send pictures. I guess they show off their family when they can. I would say that even though this is a very tough, emotional and physical training for them, it is good for them and they are doing well. Joey is 24 so probably also a little older than most recruits (but I wasn't ready to let go of him at 18!) and I think it benefits him as he was fully ready to take on this new career and life. All our kids will be fine, and at least all us moms have each other. Take care, lots of hugs, hope you get your call soon.

Hi Angela, it's nice to meet someone who has a son (??) in the same ship/division as my son. My son's name is Joey. I am anxiously waiting for his phone call which I hope comes soon. I saw that alot of mom's with kids in Div 309 and 310 got phone calls this afternoon, so maybe they are making the rounds. If not tonight, maybe this week. I would love to hear stories from anyone who has a kid in Ship03 Division 316. Any stories at all! Thanks for all the support here, it means a lot to me right now.

Your note gave me chills. They are fine. All of my friends that have had family in the military say "no news is good news". We just have to have faith. Kyle is my oldest also, plus my 17 daughter started her senior year this morning. Single parent. So it will be a hard year for me. I will also post the few sentences I received from kyle as well. It will be interested. When I got the 15 second phone call, his voice sounded a little shakey and I asked him if it was scary, he said "A little". He just made 23 in April. I know he is a little older than most there, but it doesn't make it any easier. He went to college tryin to get into nursing, but it is very competitive here in New Orleans. He just got impatient, but I think he has been thinking about this for some time. Just so thankful it's not Army or Marines. I would be totally freaked. I know a few who just left and are leaving today actually. Keep me posted!!

Hi Angela, my name is Laurie. My son, Kyle, is in the same division as your son/daughter. So glad to find this site as it has helped me realize I am not the only one on this roller coaster ride. I got my kid in the box and my letter with his three line message, but no letters yet. Hope you are coping well. Glad to know our kids are together. My prayers are with you and your family and child. Let me know if you have received anything or gotten any calls. All these unknowns are keeping me up at night for hours on end. Hope you are well. Keep in touch.
