All Hands Magazine's full length documentary "Making a Sailor": This video follows four recruits through Boot Camp in the spring of 2018 who were assigned to DIV 229, an integrated division, which had PIR on 05/25/2018.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose). Still limited to 2 guests maximum.
Specific information on this policy change will be provided in the coming days and weeks.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your support.
RESUMING LIVE PIR - 8/13/2021 - ONLY 2 GUESTS ALLOWED
MASK AND SOCIAL DISTANCING IS REQUIRED.
NO MASK, NO ENTRY
**UPDATE - 2020**
Due to COVID there is no public PIR. The graduations are on Thursday, and the video of the graduation is posted on RTC's FaceBook on Friday at approx 3pm. Please keep in mind that a division may need to complete additional quarantine during training which will delay their graduation.
Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass isno longer needed to drive on to base for parking.
Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.
Thanks KDsMom92, yes it is very stressful. I fooled myself into thinking I was ready, I was strong, I was not going to cry. Yes I'm laughing to!!!!!! How stupid was I?? Can't walk by his room without crying. lol I'm a mess. I think joining this sight will help alot. It already has.
thats very exciting he did it huh!! congratulations thats great mine won't have PIR till 3/1/13 which feels like a lifetime. It is also nice to meet you, im jackie and my son is mike, and this is all new for me too.
Hi KDsMom, apparently your Div and my sons Div train together so they probably know one another, just thought I'd introduce myself, I'm Jackie and my son is Mike, this experience is all new for me too but I'm proactive and learning fast. If there is ever anything I can do for you let me know.
Hi KDsMom - welcome! My son just had PIR on 12/21 and is currently at nuke school. So happy you found N4M - it has been a true lifesaver for me! Make sure you keep your phone close by just in case you get a call and it's better if you don't count the "actual" days, but count Friday's! Usually there are 9 of them until you get to PIR. It just seems to make time go by faster.....and remember "No news is good news!". Hang in there - it will get easier. Don't be afraid to ask questions - that's what everyone is here for - to help each other through this. I sent you a friend request...... Have a great day!
