OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hi Julie...sorry to get back to you so late...I was out of town all weekend and didn't see the post! We got our first letter last Thursday on the 10th(?). So did his girlfriend. I know he said he had gotten our letters already...we got his address on the 28th of May I believe and I sent out the first one June 1st I believe...it is all a blur now! I am sure the letters have caught up to him. Just make sure the address is what is on the form letter. I have noticed different addresses on the envelopes that we received. I hope you are doing okay...it sure is a day-to-day thing isn't it? Hope we can meet at the meet n greet at the Ramada.

Hi Julie...I just found another neat group...go to "Boot Camp Moms" with a subgroup of
PIR 7/23/10. Lots of good info and encouragement there too.

Hi Julie...so sorry you haven't gotten any replies...go to "groups" and then choose the group for PIR 07/23/10. We have a lot of activity going on. I have already laughed and cried over the comments! My son, Rory is in the exact same group that your son is. Some on this group have gotten letters already...none of the group on the west coast has yet, which is where I live. Some from Texas and Georgia and Mississippi got personal letters. I did get the "gift" of a phone call from my son on Thursday morningat 7:30 am. He said it wasn't his "real" call but a "business" call to get info for his security clearance for his job! It was so wonderful to hear his voice. I wonder if our kids know each other!? My son is not a "grad & go" as far as I know. His A school is in Pensacola. Please join our group! It's great! Also, there is a "Boot Camp" Group that is pretty good but I still like the PIR group the best. There is a "meet & greet" the night before PIR at the Ramada from 6 to 8 and a bunch of us are planning on meeting each other there. You don't have to stay at the Ramada to come. Looking forward to meeting you! Kim
