I didn't notice the paperwork you mentioned the first time I opened the box, so I went back and I did find something with my daughters name on it. If I remember correctly, you mentioned your daughter's name is Lora? My daughter is Bria :)! I believe your daughter is who my daughter mentioned she met at MEPS. Bria did tell her father and I her last name started with a "C" and they may be rack mates. Usually who they leave with is who they end up staying with. I guess we'll find out in time :). If you were there that day we probably saw each other. I was with my husband and two young children and my father-in-law. We were sitting in the back row of chairs against the wall. Facing the tv.

It was difficult opening this box, everything was just thrown in there and shipped home.

I'm keeping it together as much as I can. One week down, haha :)!

She didn't take anything with her but the clothes on her back and it's all in this box.

I guess I totally did misunderstand you, my apologies. Well I'm sure they are somewhere there together :).

When I received her "I made it safe" call, I was shocked at how brief our conversation was. She said she had 2 minutes but I'm pretty sure our call lasted all of 5 seconds!! She said she had to go and that was it. That's when I became emotional, for the first time during this whole experience. I haven't heard from her since. She spoke so quickly on the phone but from what I picked up, the box will come in a week or so and we won't hear from the recruits for a couple weeks.  My daughters recruiter was able to give me her address today. You should contact your daughters recruiter to get her address. From what I understand from the recruiting office, their first letter will come in 2 weeks. This is a new experience for me as well and it's awesome that this site is available to answer questions.

this link has some really great info!! There is a video that details what recruits go through at RTC. This site helped to ease my mind a little. It really does a great job of explaining the process from the moment they arrive at o'hare to arriving at RTC.

I'm looking forward to talking with you more! I'm glad we can give each other support, it's comforting to know I'm not alone.

The day my daughter shipped out, I was able to see her briefly before her swear in and then immediately following the swear in we said our good- byes but she did mention that she had met someone and they would be in the same barracks.
