OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Follow this link for OPSEC Guidelines:

My husband was in CT for master sonar school and he stayed at the navy lodge.I also stayed there with him for 2 weeks.I used to walk to walmart and some of the other stores while the hubby was in school. No hes hasn't gotten his phone yet.He talks to us on facebook or on his IPOD touch. He wants to get a laptop right now.My son said the freedom was great. He took the shuttle to the crystal mall.He wants to go to the Mohegan sun casino so he can go to the bass pro shop.Even if ur not 21 the casino is huge and tons of shopping and resturants. It is a beautiful place. The shuttle takes them lots of places.I told my son when he got a chance to take the train into New York.Just go with some friends.Sooo much to do and see in New York.

When they are about done with A school they will pick orders. If they stay at the top of their class they get to pick first.Boomers don't port so you don't have to worry about that if he picks those duty stations.Boomers are in GA, and washington state.Fast attacks are in CT,virgina,San diego,Guam and Hawaii. So where he picks will determine what type of boat he is on.I have encouraged my son to pick what he wants. To not come back to GA because we are here.He has an awesome oppertunity to see the world.I have met several guys who have traveled around the world.Being in the Navy you get to travel and see lots of places and cultures. We just moved back from Hawaii where my hubby was on shore duty.We had thought about going to Japan or Australia.Lots of things to see and the Navy pays for you to live there.

Yes BESS is in Groton CT also.Submarine life has its ups and downs just like everything else.My husband is on a SSBN (boomer boat)they are the bigger submarines.Fast attacks are the smaller ones.FA stop at ports around the world.Boomers usually don't port.Boomers have set sechdules for the most part. They work good for the family life.We were married 10 years before he joined so I like having him around. We have email for communication and letters sometimes. There are no phones under the ocean. On boomers they stay under water alot but there are times they have steel beaches where they can come topside and have a swim call. You move up in rank faster on subs.
