OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Have you joined the FRG facebook page? There are two and both are closed groups . One is called "Family Support for USS Bataan". And the other "USS Bataan FRG". I get WAY more info there than by calling. There is also an email address ussbataanfrg@gmail.com
I usually get response from this fairly quickly, but they will vet you first. Hope this helps.
I will carry your number to get in touch while we are there. my number starts with 770 (since i cant post it all here).
Talk to you soon! Lee
(PS - I'm not reluctant to exchange snail mail - I just don't think there will be enough time to get whatever info you need!)

Well, this looks like the only way I can talk to you is just posting on your wall - don't want to talk too openly on here, but yes I have talked to my son recently. And he has sent several emails asking me to bring him stuff. He had just landed at Norfolk in early June when they flew him over to Italy to joint the ship mid deployment too. Sounds like your son and mine maybe went over around the same time? He is Machinist Mate and I'm not sure he enjoys it as much as he was hoping, but they got him cranking right now. Nobody enjoys that. My son will turn 21 in late December. I've been in Atlanta most of my life, but we have family in Florida, New York and the western part of Virginia. We'll be staying at the Navy Lodge while we are there and will stay thru the weekend after homecoming. Not sure if my kid will have duty or not, but keeping fingers crossed!

Lisa hi! I keep trying to figure out a way to communicate and it seems commenting on your wall is the only way to do so on my ipad. I got your message a few days ago. I'll be heading uo to VA in just about a week and will spend a few days in the Shenandoah Valley before creeping across to Norfolk. I live in Atlanta but the rest of my family lives elsewhere. Joining me on the cruise will be my brother, his teenage son and our aunt. Wish we could take booze! Maybe they will be serving cocktails on the lido deck.
How about you? Where do you live? What does your son do on the ship? BTW my name is Lee
