He left on Tuesday I got his box that Friday. It was pretty rough. Just sat there and stared at it till my daughter got there. We opened and went through everything. I put it all back in the box the way he had it and it still sits right there by us. He is my youngest so I have an empty nest now. Luckily my daughter is due to have my first grandchild Oct 10th. Unlucky thought that his uncle wont be here. They will get to meet at PIR. I AM SO EXCITED.

When my son was going through the recruitment process he  said the felt like an old man. I am sure he is really feeling it now. lol.

I holding up ok but it sure seems like he has been gone longer than a week. That's funny because we didn't live in the same town and usually got together every other week for dinner. I guess it's the not being able to call or text him.

Have a good week!

You are very welcome. What is your SR's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend. Take care and blessings to you and yours.

Hello Kim,

My son is older than most, 29. He didn't want his mom there for all the 'leaving stuff' so I missed it. Kinda jealous about that. We are from Waxahachie, TX although my son lived in Dallas. He had already done 2 years in the Peace Corps in Nicaragua so I am used to waiting for letters. Luckily he writes beautiful letters.

Thanks for friending me. I'm not sure I know how to do that. I need to wander around more.

Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR when the time comes. When did or will your future Sailor ship to the RTC? Take care and blessings to you and yours.
