OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Proud Navy Mom

My son, Caleb, left for the Navy yesterday afternoon heading to Chicago. He made the one phone call to me and I missed it. Was very sad that I couldn't talk to him. But at least he left me a voicemail so I have that to listen to. Can anyone tell me what I should be expecting next? I know that I will be getting a box with his belongings in it :( .  Any advice will be greatly appreciated!!

Leanne:  They will not ship out as a division....they will all be going to different A Schools (although some will stay together and attend the same A School).  Since is is a holiday weekend, they could ship out Sunday instead of Saturday (some of them), but Saturday is still the most popular day for them to fly out.

Don't forget to make change 3 (and change 2??).

Since your SR has a contract for Aviation Aerographer's Mate (AG), join Aerographers Mate- AG - Moms and A SCHOOL, BILOXI, MS and check out Airman Family and Friends. You can also check out the Keesler Air Force Base Facebook Page. The Rating Information Card for AG can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/ag.pdf. Your then Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.

Make change 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link). There may be other changes you need to make as well (1 and 2??), so read and consider each of the changes.

Since you have an SR at the RTC, you can change "Waiting to leave for Boot Camp" above to "Enlisted."
